Good news for those of you who are still experiencing issues with the TaiG jailbreak. A new beta version has been released to address issues with users who are getting stuck at 60% during the jailbreak process.

Users who are already jailbroken will likely see a TaiG Untether update soon on Cydia once the 2.4.1 beta period ends. Check out the rest of our post for the release notes related to the release.

Release notes:

1. V2.4.1 fixes the issue of getting stuck at 60% based on users’ feedback, optimizes the jailbreak process and improves its stability.

2. V2.4.1 is a beta version. If not necessary, you can use the previous version to jailbreak.

You can download the TaiG 2.4.1 beta from our downloads page.

As we suspected when TaiG first released a beta version of its tool with version 2.3.1, this looks to be a continuing trend—release a beta first, and then promote the beta to final once multiple users have tested it.

Again, if you’re already jailbroken, there is no need to use this tool. Just wait for an update to the TaiG Untether package, and apply that once released on Cydia.

Are you still experiencing issues with the jailbreak tool? Did this update help?

    • Mr_Coldharbour

What are you on? iOS 8.3/8.4? I’m on 8.3 jailbroken on TaiG 2.3 and I can update and install App Store apps just fine.

      • Eni

i’m on 8.4 i hate to restore again

    • Ds

sign out and sign back into the app store. i had the same problem on 8.3 and 8.4 after jailbreaking

      • Eni

        just restored, thanks anyway

    • Arjan Vlek

Are you sure that it is jailbreak related? If you have a billing issue Apple will block your account until you pay all your open bills.

      • Eni

yeah sure. no lol all good with apple payments 🙂

    • Fanboy 

Same issue, could not update any apps. I simply did a soft reset and it worked! [Hold down power button and home button until iPhone turns off and restarts]

      • Eni

        Tried, didn’t work

    • Murat Koçyiğit

I had the same problem.delete ”taig AFC2” and try again. My issue has been solved by this.if yours continue check yor tweaks that are not compatible with 8.4 and delete them

    • alpha tango

had the same issue… turns out I wasn’t logged into app store… on 8.4… so far so good..

    • Stayce

am frustrated as well, this 2.4.1 beta, wont allow me to update or download anything in cydia.

      • Eni

        Never use beta man

  • David Ruiz

My only issue and I think is a BIG ONE is that even after a clean restore to iOS 8.4 (no music, apps…. just nothing) after jailbreak it took almost 1 GB in documents and data! this is insanee

I’m on a iPhone 5S 16 GB model, so this is a pain in the ass

    anyone with the same problem?

    • Anthony

Was about to updgrage to ios 8.4 but sound like people are having problems look like i’ll stay on ios 8.3 jailbroken cuz i have no problems on ios 8.3 so far

      • Unless you require Apple Music, stay on 8.3, better battery life vs 8.4

      • David Ruiz

I’ve no battery issues on 8.4, everything is running fine.
I have this problem since 8.3

    • Mr_Coldharbour

Try going to Settings > General > Usage > Storage, and see if there’s any sitting or redundant update like a software update laying around that you can just delete. Otherwise, I started on a fresh restore on iOS 8.3 on my iPhone 6 64GB and even before jailbreaking with TaiG I had almost 400MB of used space, must be system file iOS related things. After the jailbreak I had an extra 100-150MB eaten away, must be the jailbreak portion eating it up.

      • David Ruiz

Try this before, but is no “Other” data, is “Documents and Data”… even try iCleaner Pro after jailbreak and nothing.

I’m out of ideas, I’ll try a clean restore and then jailbreak with this new one, wish me luck !

      • Mr_Coldharbour

A clean restore should fix it. Also, try to avoid iCleaner Pro, it has been known to just break things afterwards. At least for me I remember using it just to clean some temporary junk and nothing else, next thing I know I can’t toggle off per-app Cellular Data access toggles anymore. Good luck mate.

      • David Ruiz

Yes the clean restore fix it, but as soon I make the jailbreak the space is occupied again. If lose space is the cost for the jailbreak so be it, but this never happen to me with other jailbreaks, and trust me, I try jailbreak since the first iOS.

The bad thing is that looks like I’m the one with this issue x)

  • Keith S

Still can’t get past the 20% issue, even after all that “downgrade iTunes” fix

    • Ángel Javier Esquivel

Try on a 32-bit PC or Virtual PC

      • Keith S

        Ok, I can try that

      • mrgerbik

To be more specific, a 32bit Windows OS – dosent have to be a 32 bit processor

  • Rex

OT: Anyone using El Capitan PB? It’s so snappy and fast. I’m using an i7 MBP and the difference in speed of everything is just beautiful like it’s way way way faster….

  • Off topic -> I installed a bunch of tweaks the other day, and it completely changed the app open/close animation. Now apps simply fade in and out. Could anyone help me out with which app it is? I went through my list and I can’t make out which it is. I didn’t install springtomize btw.

    • f96lrs

      barrel ?

    • mrgerbik

      Cylinder or barrel maybe

  • Malik shahzad

I will wait for Taig 100.1.0 version for jailbreaking iOS 8.4 :):)

This blog post from Jeff only validates my previous comments on the earlier JB announcements, namely:

    1) after many years of jailbreaking, do we finally have a JB developer (TaiG in this instance) starting to follow some sort of basic testing protocols. By simply classifying this release as “beta”, it helps inform the general public that this code is still in testing, may contain flaws, and is not final code. And the reality is that until a JB developer *truly* follows some sort of internal alpha and beta testing for their jailbreak, you can effectively classify all previous releases that have been released to the public as “alpha” or “beta”.

    2) we’re starting to see a little bit of a slowdown on maintenance releases (bug patches) by the TaiG team with this JB, where they aren’t coming out with a new version every day. Similar to previous jailbreaks from other developers, that usually means the code is starting to stabilize given the reduction in bugs. But I would still recommend giving it a week from the date of the latest release before spending the time & effort to JB your device. If a new JB patch hasn’t been released after a week or so, I have found over the years that its usually a decent (safe) time to JB, and not having to worry about major flaws.

My comment and the previous comments I made on the other announcements were to inform those who are new to jailbreaking, as I’ve seen this problem repeated over & over throughout the last 6-7 years. I’m not trying to be smartass – but thanks for the extremely helpful reply.

      • M_Hawke

Are you just joking? Otherwise your post is bizarre.

  • TwinSon

I keep getting that Apple Driver isn’t installed issue and I have tried to do this on my Work PC, VM on my Mac, and the PC at my parents. Anyone have a fix for this?

    • REECON_

I am having this same issue… is there a fix?!!? 🙁

  • nvog

    THANK GOD !!!!!!!!!

  • lukemul69

Im still having issues where my virtual machine (parallels) will not let iTunes or TaiG detect my iPhone. I tried windows 7, 8.1 and the new preview. Nothing. been trying for 5 days now driving me up the wall.

  • Mark S

Great now release one for 40%. Because after 15 times I finally jailbroke. This thing is hella buggy and VERY random in its execution.

  • Mark Loftus

Little help… Trying TaiG 2.3.1 on Win7 computer. Turn off FindMyiPhone, turn off Passcode, run TaiG as Administrator. Consistently (with all TaiG releases), getting “Apple driver hasn’t been found. Please download & install iTunes” iTunes 12.2 is installed. Downgraded to iTunes 11. Both gave same error in TaiG. Any ideas?

  • Daniel Kleinberg

I had issues with Taig 2.3 and 2.4.1 versions. Could not Jailbreak an iPhone 6 running a fresh start of iOS 8.4. I did try on two different computers: the first one the jailbreak colapsed at 30%, and on the second one I got a message error saying that Apple driver was not installed (but it was.. and recognizing the device)
I had iTunes installed, I removed it and install it again. Didn’t work as well.
I have been jailbreaking my iPhones since iOS 4…. I have no idea what is going wrong this time.

    • Todd Young

Did you follow the usual steps?

      1) Download 8.4.ipsw

      2) Shift+Restore

      3) Point to the IPSW file

      4) Restore

      5) Setup AS A NEW PHONE

      6) CLOSE iTunes

      7) Launch jailbreak as Administrator

      8) Setup Cydia after JB

      9) Restore from your last backup

      10) Install your tweaks

      Turn off Find My Phone

      Turn off Password

      Sign out of iCloud completely

Put your phone in Airplane Mode (but turn on WiFi)

      Disable your antivirus

      • Daniel Kleinberg

Did everything as you said, except for one thing:
I did a fresh iOS 8.4 installation directly form iTunes. I didn’t download the firmware from the downloads section. I just restored the device from iTunes. The firmware was downloaded by iTunes.
Everything else I did by the book.
Do you think this might be the problem?

  • Stayce

    please i need a fix, i don’t wanna restore

  • nvog

FYI, I managed to jailbreak with the new taig 2.4 beta (I think same thing applies with 2.4.1) using the following:

    1. Turned off locations, password, “find my iphone”, wifi and data, and turned on flight mode.

    2. On PC (windows 7 64bit) using latest itunes, I turned off firewall and antivirus programs (If on, the 1105 error hits at 60%).

    3. Applied jailbreak (run the app as administrator) within 2 minutes, WITHOUT HAVING TO WIPE OUT APPS & SETTINGS (no full restore needed).

Regardless of how Conan feels, he doesn’t run TBS. Even if he did decide to take a holiday this week there’s nothing to stop them from bringing in a guest host. It’s probably just a coincidence they’re on reruns this week.
