Top 10 Cydia Sources

The default Cydia repos hold the majority of the awesome jailbreak apps and tweaks that we all know and love, but from time to time, you’ll need to use a third-party source for certain Cydia packages. Some third-party repos, like Ryan Petrich’s beta repo, are one of the first things I add after jailbreaking my iPhone. Other repos aren’t nearly as necessary, but still nice to have available.

In this post, I’ll share with you 10 different third-party Cydia sources that you can add to Cydia to gain access to additional apps, tweaks, and themes. I’ll also showcase one tweak from each repo that makes it worth consideration.

Note that this is a highly curated list, and I’m purposely omitting repos that house pirated tweaks and apps. I also avoid things like myrepospace, as it doesn’t have the best reputation. So while 10 repos isn’t as much as 50 repos, chances are, you’ll find at least one quality release on each repo that I recommend that you’ll derive benefits from.

10 Cydia Repos

  • Chewmieser – http://apt.steverolfe.com – StatusVolX/FreeFall
  • Elijah and Andrew’s Planet – http://elijahandandrew.com/repo – ReachApp
  • HASHBANG Productions – http://cydia.hbang.ws – Pheromone
  • Cydro Repo – http://repo.cydro.us – Cydia Timeout
  • Karen’s Pineapple Repo – http://cydia.angelxwind.net – AppSync Unified
  • Pw5a29’s Repo – http://pw5a29.github.io – New swipe selection
  • Ryan Petrich’s repo : http://rpetri.ch/repo – Tons of stuff, Activator
  • tateu’s repo – http://tateu.net/repo – vAlarm
  • team Kodi – http://mirrors.kodi.tv/apt/ios – Kodi
  • 46&2 Repository – http://repo.fortysixandtwo.com – Wink

Keep in mind that most of the listed repos contain other compelling packages, and most are updated from time to time to upgrade existing packages and add new downloads.

If you’re going to add this many third-party repos, I definitely recommend using CSources2 in order to manage them. This jailbreak tool makes managing repos infinitely easier than going about it solo.

What’s your favorite repo on this list? Are there any repos that you think should definitely be listed here that I omitted? Drop me a line in the comment section and let me know.

  • throttle clutch e brake

    Nice

  • Dason Priya

This is just a list of repos. The information is useless unless you explain which items inside the repo are useful and why.

    • Did you even watch the video, in which I did just what you were asking???

      • Cesar D

        what

      • Dason Priya

Yeah you forgot that your comment system emails the original comment before you edit it.

If you treat all your readers that way I can see why your ad revenue is shit compared to other tech blogs.

Maybe you should drop 30 on Yahoo Search Marketing.

      • Dason, I didn’t forget. I just thought about it, and decided to change it. But trust me, I didn’t forget. I meant what I said. Rudeness is a two way street, sir.

      • M_Hawke

Geez, Dason, what’s your problem? Yep, Jeff said this article was to list the different repos so he listed them. You want to know what’s in them? Load them up and browse through them yourself. You only come off as childish and unappreciative.

      • Mr_Coldharbour

Hey Jeff, been tweeting you and leaving comments about an issue with the 8.3/8.4 TaiG jailbreak but never got any feedback from you. I was wondering, are you experiencing a bug with Notification Center where when you turn off Today/Tomorrow Summary and then reboot/respring they reappear again? Would you mind trying that (remove Today/Tomorrow Summary from NC, then reboot, and launch NC again and see if they reappear)? Because quite a few jailbreakers on 8.3/8.4 on TaiG jb are experiencing this. I really appreciate it if you just responded and possibly give us any indication on what might cause it and if any fix exists. Thanks, much appreciated!

      • oohwah

I have the same issue, it’s not the end of the world but it’s a bit annoying…

      • Mr_Coldharbour

The issue is caused by Activator. Someone on Twitter mentioned that, tried uninstalling Activator myself and rebooted several times and the issue never reoccurred again. Tweeted and emailed Ryan about this days ago, let’s just wait and see if this issue is addressed.

    • Terence Wright

Are you that unmotivated that you can’t be bothered to look through the repos yourself?
Maybe jail breaking isn’t for you.

  • Cones1r

Pheromone tweak warned me about half of these repos. So they don’t get installed. Should we worry about it?

    • throttle clutch e brake

Jeff’s done videos on more than one tweak within all of these repo’s believe it or not..
So that answers to any skepticism on security concers

    • It’s because the repo isn’t using https://

  • I used to use kodi when you could stream TV channels on it but they got blocked eventually. Anyone know if that’s currently possible? I’d go back if it were, I loved the app.

    • Waleed madibo

It is working and i am using it right now on my ipad 2 jailbroken on 8.4

    • Rowan09

      Yep sport devil and Phoenix

      • Are those default?

      • Rowan09

No you’ll need to add super repo for Phoenix and download Sportdevil zip file to add the repo.

      • Ok thanks

  • GuyWithTheThings

Soooo I guess nobody here is gonna make an article about Asphaleia being updated?

  • dnice

Appsync unified isn’t in Karen’s repo

    • Timothy

      …Yes, it is.

  • Manuel Molina

Why not repo hack your iPhone dot org. This is the best one.

    • GuyWithTheThings

Well Jeff did state that “I’m purposely omitting repos that house pirated tweaks and apps.” Come on, dingus! He wrote the article for a reason.

      • Manuel Molina

Hack doesn’t just have pirate tweaks and apps. It has a lot of tweaks you can’t find anywhere else that aren’t from Big Boss. And let’s not be blinded by the fact that many people have pirate repos on their device, but it doesn’t mean they are pirates.

  • James Bogdanski

looks like the elijahandandrew repo is completely down

  • jilex

Isn’t the appsync package for installing pirated apps?

    • ‘Ariff

That’s what it’s generally used for but the main reason it’s there is for developers-to-be.

  • Lucus Bendzsa

I remember that Jeff done 50 compatible jailbreka tweaks then fifty more! Do it with this‼️‼️‼️

  • On a sidenote, asphalea 2 has been released so I’m hoping auxo 3 will be next on their list to update

  • hhumbert

Nice. Helpful video. But some of us like to read and not get stuck in watching videos in realtime. A 3-6 word quick description of the featured tweaks would be great. But again, very helpful video.

  • leart

every time a new firmware is out, my ipad has to go through the shit of downloading 1 gb of shit without my permission , fk you apple

  • Noam

hey Jeff can you give us reliable source for packages?

  • Jaiven Po’okela Morris

I remember those good old days… I also remember when blackra1n only too 30 seconds to jailbreak!

    • Sandesh Dhuri

I remember one JB process, where you go to the JB site from your iDevice then hit the “Jailbreak” button and done! it was Amazing!!!!!

  • Mr_Coldharbour

90% of why I jailbreak is for Activator I can’t use an iPhone without it, feels so gimped without it! And yes sure, also be on the lookout for any Activator updates, I emailed and tweeted Ryan about this so it should be addressed. Hopefully.

    • oohwah

I took it one step further, I did a total restore, I was able to get rid of the Today/Tomorrow Summary, then jailbroke it with the Taig 2.4.1 jailbreak and it still wasn’t there, as soon as I installed Activator and the iPhone re-sprung the Today/Tomorrow Summary reappeared and I could not get rid of it, so you are right, Activator is the culprit… once again not the end of the world 😉 P.S is there any way to get rid of the annoying big date in NC? I can with Hideme8 but that program is buggy so I don’t load it… any other way???

      • Mr_Coldharbour

To hide the big date in NC I believe BetterNC was a tweak that let you hide / customise certain aspects of NC. But I’m not sure if it’s working on iOS 8. I believe the dev hasn’t touched it beyond iOS 7. You might want to do a check on that before installing.
