Lifeproof NÜÜD for iPad Air 2 is waterproof up to six feet deep for an hour

Lifeproof Nuud for iPad Air 2

It is more likely that you will accidentally drop your iPhone into a body of water than your iPad, but it is not entirely impossible. If you are hanging out by the pool with your tablet and accidentally fling it into the water, you would be out of luck.

That is, unless it is protected by Lifeproof’s NÜÜD case. This completely sealed off covering keeps out dust, snow, and even water at six-feet deep. Plus, thanks to the thin display covering, you can still use your iPad Air 2 as if it were uncovered.

Just like the company’s iPhone 6 Fre case, this is built specifically to keep out the elements. Whether you are skiing in the Alps or down at Lake Havasu, you can be sure that water will not be an issue.

It is designed to fit snuggly to your iPad Air 2 with “screenless” technology for uninterrupted touch screen use. It is rated to protect for as deep as two meters for as long as an hour, so you can take pictures of the fish while snorkeling in Hawaii.

All of the ports are sealed off. You can open the Lightning port and headphone jack seals for additional use. The case uses a special membrane that is compatible with Touch ID.

Since the built-in speakers must be completely sealed in to be waterproof, the NÜÜD has a special Sound Enhancement System that gives your audio a boost. The back-facing camera is protected with a special AR-coated optical lens for clear pictures.

It is also rated by the Military Standard 810G-516.6 for protection against drops up to four feet.

The Lifeproof NÜÜD case is not yet available for the iPad Air 2, but you can preorder it from Amazon for $130. It is expected to ship between one and three months.
