German automobile manufacturer Porsche has become the first car maker to reveal a premium vehicle in a video game.

As reported by AppAdvice, an update to Electronic Arts’ Real Racing 3 contains the worldwide reveal of the Porsche Cayman GT4, a sports car with the distinctive mid-engine layout, marking the first time a real car has been unveiled through a mobile game.

Offering more downforce, traction, capacity, thrust and power than any Cayman has ever had before, the new Cayman GT4 is now available in the latest Real Racing 3 update.

“Be the first to take the wheel of Porsche’s latest marvel, the Cayman GT4,” EA teases. “Start the challenge now, only in Real Racing 3.” The game contains specific challenges designed around the new car.

In addition to the Cayman GT4, Real Racing 3 has been refreshed with other new vehicles as well. As a bonus, you’ll also enjoy more than a hundred new events and new gifts in celebration of the game’s second anniversary this month.

The newly added vehicles include the Spadaconcept supercars Codatronca TS and Codatronca Barchetta from Italian manufacturer Spada Vetture Sport.

Download Real Racing 3 for free in the App Store.

The massive 1.47-gigabyte download is provided on a freemium basis with In-App Purchases and requires an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad with iOS 6.0 or later.

All i can see, EA is earning loads of $$$$$. 😛

    • I don’t know why they don’t make a pro version without the freemium rubbish. I’d pay big money for a good racing sim without any in-app-purchases.

Only reason i see is they tried making a paid racing game and failed. ( Didn’t made enough profit. ) I was referring to RR2. It was a paid racing game and if you remember it wasn’t updated every month for nearly 2 years like RR3 because EA was not getting enough revenue from it. So they tried making a freemium game and see now, their frequency of updating RR3 shows how much profit they are making. I think if they ever make RR4 it will also be a freemium too.

sounds cool.. but we should not this is not the first time a car manufacturer announced a car this way like the article says.. Nissan did Simular with the GTR in Gran Turismo (2 I think it was). Still cool though planned to buy a ps3 just to play that game 🙂 hope this is as awesome
