One of the best things about using the Messages app in iOS 8 is the quick reply interface. Sadly, third party apps don’t have access to the quick reply API, so they are limited in this regard. Wouldn’t it be nice if one of your favorite messaging apps got access to real native iOS 8 quick reply? That’s the exact premise behind Nuntius, a brand new jailbreak tweak that brings true native iOS 8 quick reply to WhatsApp.

Once you install Nuntius, it just starts working. Obviously you’ll need to have WhatsApp installed and be signed in, but once you do, you’ll see the quick reply interface as soon as you receive a message from a friend.

There are no options or settings to configure for Nuntius, in fact, there is no preference panel for the tweak to be found in the stock Settings app. This tweak is a true semblance of plug and play.

If you’re a WhatsApp user, it’s hard to find a reason why you wouldn’t be excited about Nuntius. The tweak is currently in beta now, so it can’t be found on the default Cydia repos, but it can be had by adding the following repo to your list of Cydia sources:

Once you add the repo, simply install the Nuntius package from developer sharedRoutine to begin using it. What do you think about having native iOS 8 quick reply for WhatsApp?

  • Shawn

I would jailbreak again if they brought this to Hangouts

  • Fikri CanCankurtaran

Why do you hate Whatsapp that much? It is simple and great for multi-os real time messaging. I don’t understand this hate.

    • blist

I agree with you. I use WhatsApp every day and love it! Yet I can’t find better alternative who can change my mind.

    • Diego Milano

Where’s the WhatsApp hate? Did I miss something here? It’s not in the article, at least…

      • iamzaidan

        Watch the video

      • Diego Milano

Oh, I see now! Believe me, I totally missed the video when I saw this article.
Maybe Jeff and his fellow guy on the other side should ask Facebook why they bought WhatsApp then, considering “it’s terrible”. πŸ˜‰

  • InfinitePlusOne

Want to jailbreak but my most important apps won’t work. Bank apps.

    • Grakiao

What do you mean they wont work?

If you mean they detect jailbreak and don’t let you use them then just get the flex app and disable that so you can use them normally…

      • ThoseCurves

how do i do that ? it will be so damn helpfull. i tried xcon but it never helped.. i have now downloaded flex. how do i proceed to disable the detection ?

      • Grakiao

Check in the cloud section for your app, if it doesn’t appear there you are gonna have to make it yourself.

      • InfinitePlusOne

Yeah once tried flex previously so many ways, and few others as well. None of them worked.

Does WhatsApp have to be running in the background for this to work (as with other tweaks, e.g. Couria)?

    • Ali

      Try IMN

      • MrDDify

IMN isn’t fully compatible with WhatsApp yet.

  • Cesar D

there should be quick reply for every app. for facebook messenger this sounds awesome

    • MrDDify

Check IMN it works with facebook messenger and there is a beta version which works with Whatsapp but the WhatsApp part is still beta

  • Tell it.

All tweaks of this type fail for 2 reasons.

    1. Needs app to run in background. FAIL
    2. Doesn’t include QC FAIL

    • MrDDify

Who doesn’t have chat tweaks like this running in the background? everybody does that.

      • Jeffrey

        And no.

      • Diego Milano

    • FΔ±rat Γ‡iftΓ§i

QC functionality is in the works. Check the dev’s Twitter account for more info.

OT: Is it true that BiteSMS is dead?

    • Damian

      • Kim Olsson

WHAT?! Source?! Ive been really looking forward to this on iOS 8 πŸ™

      • MrDDify

This has been common knowledge for a while now

      • Damian

The bitesms team promised it would be updated few weeks after jailbreak, it turned into months

Then they said they lost developers and have no plans updating it as long as they have no developer

Overall their approach is pretty shitty to this whole situation

The source is the entire loads of discussion on reddit

      • Kim Olsson

Ah, Ive missed the part about them losing developers, crap. Thanks for the heads up though!

      • Damian

MessageHeads is the closest you can get to BiteSMS

      • temioslo

thanks for the tip. Message Head is totally raw app and recommend very.

    • Clinical

Yup. Bitesms is no more. RIP BiteSMS

      • temioslo

yes bitesms is dead πŸ™ but there are some who know a similar app that bitesms???

    • temioslo

yes bitesms is dead πŸ™ but there are some who know a similar app that bitesms?

  • Ali

IMN does this, along with kik. But this might be free, so that would be a plus!

    • Matheus Lisboa

IMN is not fully compatible… It has tons of bugs on whatsapp

  • Jose Medina

Whtasapp is way better that Imessage… Photos are sent faster voice note quality is wayyyyyy better ans easier and also group chats…

    • blist

You can do group chats on iMessage as well

      • Jeffrey

WhatsApp is just better man. It just is.

    • Diego Milano

Keep in mind WhatsApp has a higher rate of compression for both messages and -particularly- for any media file being sent. That’s one of the reasons why WhatsApp sends images and videos way faster than iMessage, however notice the quality degradation upon delivered.
I praise WhatsApp for what they do with audio messages though- iMessage’s audio messages are a JOKE.

      • Jeffrey

My neece has 1.2 gigs of WhatsApp chats alone, you can scroll and scroll until after 20 minutes of scrolling you finally come to the bottom of the chat list. A few weeks ago she had no storage left and I said delete some unimportant chats. So she started deleting whole chats, only the ones that weren’t important anymore. After literally 30 minutes of deleting numerous chats she finally came to an end with deleting. I looked at what her WhatsApp chats took in after and only 40 MB was deleted. What my point is in this long boring story is that WhatsApp chats take, like you said, almost no storage at all, unless you have 400 chats open…:P

    • Diance

agreed with the voice message. the quality is terrible in imessage

  • Jeffrey

WhatsApp for life. Every country has ‘it’s own messaging system’. Not literally but I mean, in a lot of countries 80% of people with smartphones use WhatsApp. In other countries 80% of the people use Viber and in other countries 80% of the people use text messaging/iMessage. ‘Murica is one of those last countries. I’m personally from The Netherlands where WhatsApp is widely used (about 100 of my 115 contacts in my iPhone use WhatsApp) but when I ask an American guy from my age group if they have WhatsApp, they say ‘What’s WhatsApp?’ and say that they only text or iMessage. ‘Murica is just so far behind on schedule on that kinda stuff…

  • Jeffrey

This tempts me to jailbreak again. I use WhatsApp on a daily base, as a matter of fact, it takes 45% of my battery life, but I promised myself not to jailbreak again. Don’t ask me why, I don’t know why either but I just don’t want to jailbreak anymore:P

  • noracuts

Does anyone know a good Quick Compose for sms messages?
I tried Messages+ but it didn’t play nice with Auxo 3.

  • NekoMichi

If you’re wondering about the name, it’s because nuntius means messenger or news in Latin.

  • iPhoneRocks

I played around with this tweak for a while, it is a good promising tweak but as it is still in beta it does have a few hiccups. Firstly, upon quick replying to a message that is received the notification badge from the app icon and notification alert in notification centre still remain; so its basically not marking the messages as read. Secondly you can’t quick reply from the lockscreen and thirdly sometimes the messages don’t send when quick replying. Hope the dev for this tweak sees this comment and improves on these issues πŸ™‚

  • Jesus

I went ahead and got INN. Got the the pacage that works with what’s app. Doesn’t work a lot of the time and it won’t let me record audio which is what most of my friends use, so yeah. But agree here. The audio from what’s app for messages is a lot better. Real downer that apple couldn’t get this kind of quolity of audio in messages. Almost the reason I use what’s app.

  • Varun Soi

Very useful but still there are some message sending issues after replying 3,4 messages!

  • Melma

Imessege=ilazy, the fact is Whatsapp has way better/faster service #simpleAsDa

  • Razick Rilshad

Viber already has the quick reply

  • Jeroen Claassens

+1 to Sebastien for the messages LOL

  • Khaled Al-Rammah

Tryed it. Not sending any thing. May you have to be running whatsapp in the Background for it to work πŸ™

    • Khaled Al-Rammah

Nope not sending any thing. Nooothiiing!

  • Sohail Wahab

Can I have it for Facebook messages please!

  • Mattias Nilsson

On a sidenote. The shortcoming of Whatsapp comparing to iMessage and Facebook Messenger is that the whatsapp conversations isnt synced to other devices (eg iPad and computer).
