ReachApp Landscape

ReachApp is a groundbreaking new jailbreak tweak for iPhones and iPads that we covered earlier. Unfortunately, it’s not available on the default Cydia repos like ModMyi or BigBoss, so it wasn’t eligible for our 2014 tweak of the year awards. Despite that, ReachApp is definitely one of the best tweaks that I’ve used this year, and certainly one of the most practical depending on how you use your device. Although it’s not available on the default Cydia repos, you can get the beta version on your iOS device right now.

To get Elijah Frederickson’s ReachApp tweak on your iPhone right now, simply do the following.

Step 1: Open Cydia

Step 2: Tap the Sources tab and tap Edit in the upper right-hand corner

Step 3: Tap Add and then type the following repo address in the address box:

Step 4: Tap the Add Source button

Once you do those things, the “Elijah and Andrew’s Planet” source will be added to Cydia, and you will see ReachApp available for install.

Obviously, ReachApp is still in beta, but from my experience it works very well even in its early stages. If you want to see what true side-by-side multitasking looks like on your iOS device, then look no further than ReachApp.

Be sure to watch our video preview of ReachApp, which highlights why I think this tweak has so much potential:

Although there is still no solid ETA for the tweak’s official release, rest assured that iDB will be providing a full review once the tweak touches down on Cydia.

In the meantime, tell us, are you using ReachApp? if so, how are you using it, and how are you deriving benefits from its use? Sound off down below in the comments section with your thoughts and experiences.

  • Fozy

Weird but whenever I try and change the volume on my phone (with this tweak installed and invoked) it instantly reboots. Anyone else experienced this? To what I have used though it is a great tweak. iPhone 6 Plus!

    • M L

Happened to me also until I removed ‘Stealth Cam’ tweak, which used the volume buttons.

      • Fozy

I don’t have that tweak, the only volume button tweak I have is StatusHUD 2. Maybe that could be conflicting?

      • M L

I have that tweak also. I really love it, that’s why I am hesitant to uninstall it 🙂 even just to try lol

      • M L

Ok removed and it no obvious volume crashes now. Did notice the keyboard was in landscape mode while I was in portrait. Strange

      • Fozy

It does seem like StatusHUD 2 conflicts with ReachApp. Such a shame cos I love both lmao

      • Rechain

StatusHUD 2 is buggy on iOS8, it’s crash the iPhone to safe mode when changing volume in apps. Only works on springboard at the moment. Hoping for an update.

      • Peter Marsters

I switched from StatusHUD2 to StatusVOL2. Issue gone

  • CS

Ran this on my iPad Apple maps and pandora open. Drains battery way too much for use on an iPhone unless plugged into an outlet

    • Hmm, hopefully that will be fixed as beta testing continues. I haven’t noticed the battery drain. Does it only happen when running two apps side by side, or as long as it’s active and installed?

      • CS

When it is running I notice thr battery drains quite fast. Like the other commenter said, probably because I was running two apps that require a constant cellular data connection. I will try running apps that don’t suck up as much power and see if I see improvements..

    • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Well Maps and streaming music are battery drainers anyway…Hence why turning off location services are always mentioned in the ways to improve battery. So with those two open at the same time? I mean to me it kinda makes sense.

  • Blip dude

Wait, this actually works in Landscape?? Otherwise, I’ll just have to pass.

    • sharp44MAG .

      Yes it works in landscape.

      • It does, but it is much buggier in landscape. It’s an awesome tweak though, with so much potential it’s not even funny. Can’t wait to see what they do with it.

      • Delfos Sambucetti Arturaola

Jeff do you have it running on your iPhone?

  • Golicza Alpár

Works well on 4 inch devices with UpScale/LittleBrother and ReachAll.

    • demigod cosmo

I have upscale and reach all and I can’t get it to work. iPhone 5

  • Billy

How do you invoke the tweak? I double tap the home button and my app switcher (Auxo) shows up.

    • sharp44MAG .

You have to double tap Touch ID not the home button to invoke it.

      • Gameboy213

I wish I could say that worked for me as well but it doesn’t.

      • disqus_L3x9WfMg8i

What about those of us without a touch ID device…

      • zeekfizz

        Doesn’t work then

      • Nesly Lacroix

if you use ReachAll, you don’t need TouchID.

      • Saadsami

        By doing what?

      • Nesly Lacroix

By defining a gesture besides TouchID to activate.

      • Saadsami

Oh lol I knew that . Don’t know why I asked. That was embarrassing. Thanks anyway. 🙂

      • Diego Milano

What if your device does support TouchID but you are not using it (meaning you don’t have it enabled)? Would it still work by double tapping the home button?

    • zeekfizz

      double tap, not double press

  • M L

One thing, that is a big let down is that when you do it with Safari, none of the safari navigation buttons show up. I tweeted the developer and he is aware of it. No indication if it is going to be resolved or not.

    • I’m sure it will, after all, it’s beta. Give it some time, and I think you’ll be pleased by what you find.

      • M L

I am sure. I also find the double press on the touch id very inconsistent on my 6 plus.

  • Jake Dai

I’m really glad that this tweak supports ReachAll, so now I can run two apps at the same time on my old iPad and without using Touch ID. Really amzing stuff.

    • Jake Dai

  • Nesly Lacroix

One tip for ReachAll users: you can set it to go down 50% by default by turning on override and sliding the marker to 50.

  • Diego Milano

Jeff, just a little suggestion for you, this is constructive criticism, actually: some of your video reviews are becoming a bit “too long” while you don’t really cover much functionality itself; instead we get to hear you too much and it seems a bit frustrating as I end up having some questions that are not answered in the video (eg. what happens if the switcher is invoked?, can I play videos on one or both screens simultaneously or while using AppReach, and if so, what if I use the control center media buttons to pause or control the music or video, which one would be affected by these commands?, etc.)
Again, nothing personal, just that five minutes of listening is not very beneficial if not used wisely. 🙂 I hope this doesn’t hurt anyone’s feelings, just being honest.
Great and very promising tweak! Kudos to the developer and amid the aforementioned, good review!

  • pablo

It could be more usefully if I can choose three taps, because I use a lot double tap in order to reach the top options from the screen.

  • Bob

I’m happy with stock iOS tbh. Jailbreaking just causes issues imo. With iOS 6 it was necessary, now it’s just meh.

  • Jay Phillips

I am hesitant to try any new tweaks. The last few I’ve paid for and tried were completely useless. They conflict with some other tweak I have running so that icons disappear, overlap, or the tweak can not be exited or easily removed. I suppose I could remove all of my tweaks just to try the new one but what’s the point in jail breaking if you can only run one or two tweaks at once without hosing up your phone?

  • Dillon Kirton

    Grizzly bear nice!

  • Mohammed Khaled

This feature would be awesome on an iPad. Is it compatible with one?

  • Abdullah Safdar

Can we put reachability view on older devices… ? Please tell me anyone..!

  • Vijay Pal

how to make it work on iPhone 5?

  • RafaelMelo

I have an iPhone 5, how can I use this tweak? It is not mention anywhere

  • Saadsami

Does this like, not work on iPads?
If it does, how on earth do you use it?
It’s enabled, but I have no clue what to do to get it working.

  • Mitchell Saunders

I’m getting this error. iPod touch, iOS 8.1. How can I fix it?

  • Ygor Mattos

I have an iphone 5 and does not work the Reachall, someone help me !!!!!

  • Ygor Mattos

    Help me !

  • SkyMatix

I have it on iPad and whenever I try to use it (in landscape), it splits the screen in an horizontal way and I cannot load any other app to put on the “right black screen”

  • benard kadima

i have an iphone 5s…this doesnt work
