BBM for iOS (app icon, small)

Following last month’s preview of a major new update to its BBM for iPhone messaging software, BlackBerry today released BBM featuring an improved support for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus alongside additional iOS 8 compatibility updates and other enhancements.

There’s a new timer option and you’ll also notice certain improvements for the message retraction feature and refinements to timed pictures and messages.

“You can’t help but notice the sleek and modern design updates like a flat UI and attractive transparencies,” BlackBerry says. “These adjustments make BBM look sharp across supported Apple devices.”

In addition to a refined look on iOS 8 and improved layout for the new iPhones, the refreshed messaging app now makes it possible to send stickers in group chats.

Timed messages, which let you set how long contacts have access to messages and pictures shared in a chat, can now be viewed multiple times until the timer expires.

Another nice-to-have: you can now set the message sending timer to 60 seconds, lifting the previously set limit of fifteen seconds considerably. In other words, you can now allow your friends to see your timed messages and pictures as many times as they like before the 60-second timer expires.

This is what the app looks like on an iPhone 6 Plus.

They can stop. Generally speaking…no one cares.

theres no need for BBM anymore, its just awkward to add people. why not just use whatsapp or viber that integrate with your phone number

    • Believe it or not, some chicks don’t want to have an immersive chat with you just ’cause you have their number. They’d rather you require a pass (ie BBM pin and them accepting your invitation) to do that.

  • BBM does the things that Whatsapp and others DON’T…

    • EetChit

That’s right, it allows third parties to SPAM you inside the app. How awesome is that?

      • Matheus Lisboa

i get spam on whatsapp too sometimes…

      • EetChit

I wouldn’t know. Like bbm, no one uses it. Hangouts and/or imessage or just plain SMS is the way to go.

  • Alberto Espinal

Damn I want that feature in my whatsapp or imessage!

    Does blackberry exist nowadays? :/

    • EetChit

Really, only in the delusional minds of the weak.
The rest of the world has rightfully moved on. I believe they’re down to 0.3% world marketshare now. For some reason (mostly nostalgia) bbm continues to hold on however.
