Pangu Yosemite icon

As promised, the Pangu team has updated the Pangu iOS 8 – iOS 8.1 Untether package in Cydia to version 0.4 today. The update includes a fix for random application crashes on 32-bit devices—iPod 5, iPhone 4s/5, iPad 2/3/4 and the original iPad mini—particularly with Safari.

The update follows version 0.3, which was released over the weekend to fix an overheating issue in jailbroken 32-bit devices. The update was pulled shortly after it hit, due to users reporting “mild to serious issues” with the package, but the issue was resolved and it was re-posted.

Even if you have a 64-bit device, or haven’t experienced any crash-related issues on your 32-bit device, it’s still recommended you update, as you [typically] want the latest version of Pangu. Be sure to save any work before you update, because the process does require a reboot.

Unfortunately, there’s still no word on when an OS X Pangu tool will be available. The Pangu Team did say on Friday, however, that once it has ironed out the issues in its current release, it will focus on a Mac utility, so the good news is that the software is still in the cards.

  • Singularity19

Both my iPad Air and iPhone 5S are running ios 7.1.2. Should this be reason enough to jump on 8.1 while the jailbreak is still unpatched?

    • Utrarunner5

well this doesn’t really affect you that much since both of your devices are 64bit.

      • Bugs Bunnay

unless someone typed in a comma on a 64 bit line and poof! 64 bit users go into boot loop!

    • JustMeJip2

im with the same question, should i ? i think i will.

    • Mark

yes, you get the latest ios 8 version and the jailbreak-at least for me has been flawless. there is no reason not to unless you know or rely on a tweak no yet compatible for ios 8. MIght as well before 8.1.1 or 8.2 comes out.

  • Frank Anthony

Am I the only that is tired of checking iDB lately due to the continues notification of Pangu Jailbreak. iDB should change to ALL-THINGS-PANGU Lol 🙂

    • Just scroll past Pangu-related articles and you’ll be happy again 🙂

    • Slifur

Dont be an a$s dude. You do know that pangu jailbreak has a lot of bugs, that’s why every little update is important for us who jailbreak their device.

      • Frank Anthony

Calm down a$s free dude 🙂

      • Slifur

Im good. I just cant take those people whining in every little things. So, yea.

      • Frank Anthony

        I wasn’t whining either…

      • pegger1

You imitate a whiner really good though.
If you don’t like the Pangu stories, don’t click on them, and definitely don’t comment on them.

      • Haha, great come back to the whiner…

      • mrgerbik

        Chill.

    • Mark

that’s because this is a big issue right now. it will calm within a few days. go to bgr if you don;t want too much jailbreak news.

      • Frank Anthony

I know it is.. I only pointed how i felt at some point.. But iDB is still the best follow by others.. so yeah, i will always stick around even if the Pangu notification still come 🙂

  • Merman123

    These guys are on fire.

  • Saulo Benigno

Fixed for me the photo/camera access on other apps (like Whatsapp). Nice 🙂

  • Wowzera

iOS 8 wifi problems hold me to stick with 7.1.2…
Apple still didn’t solve that issue (I experienced that on 8.0, but could still downgrade) and on forums lot of people still complain about that, some of these people recently upgraded to 8.1 to JB and think the problem is related to that, but let me tell you: it is Apple fault, because you will experience that even on stock iOS 8.

    • Aadish

Yep! You’re right. I was on 7.1.2 and now I feel I jumped the gun too soon. I have a 5s and I have been experiencing a lot of wifi issues. But again, other people aren’t experiencing such problems as much as I am. So, you can try your luck or be content with 7.1.2.

    • Nesly Lacroix

Like you, I am following the JB with great interest as I waiting to JB my 7.1.2 5S. I using my iPad 4 as a test device and had been mostly happy with it. Except for the Safari problems. I am now updating to 0.4 to see if it fixed them. I will jump in once Auxo 2 update comes out and there is no outstanding issue with the JB.

  • TwinSon

Side note, has anyone had an issue connecting their iPhone 6/6+ via Bluetooth to any devices? Mine refuses to identify my RMBP (Mid 2014) even tho My Mac sees it just fine. Annoying because I can’t use the handoff feature because of it.

    • Chris Buck

No issues on two iPhone 6 with bluetooth connecting with car or a bluetooth speaker for us.

      • TwinSon

this is crazy, just tested bluetooth with my 6+ and a coworker’s 5S and neither one of them found each other and shes on 7.1.2 and im on 8.1.

      • Chris Buck

I admit I’ve never tried to see someones iPhone with the bluetooth setting, just speakers/car/ear piece and all working for me on pangu 0.3.

    • Phil Randle

I have a RMBP and iPhone 6, you don’t need to have to Bluetooth connected to the RMBP, just make sure that it is switched on, on both devices.

Then make sure that handoff is switched on it system preferences under general on the RMBP and inside settings/ general on the iPhone.

The iPhone will automatically recognise handoff for apps, to use phone calls and text you will get a notification when you open messages to ask if you want to push them to your mac.

You don’t need to pair the devices together manually via bluetooth, this isn’t required.

  • Montgomery Tyler

even though there is so many bugs, they are fixing the problems. Got to give them credit for that.

  • Bugs Bunnay

    post all your problems here!

  • Nuno123

    Now Safari acts normal! Finally…

  • cydia keeps randomly freezing for me (before this update haven’t noticed it yet since) only way to have it working again was to do a reboot although clearing it from multitasking tray fixed it temporarily, anyone else or just me? not a big deal especially as i have no other complaints whatsoever (ios 8.1 iphone 6+)

  • António Fernandes

I believe one of these jailbreak updates messed whit my appstore and now i am not able to download or update any app on appstore, i get no errors but the circle keeps going for ever but no install. Tried signing out of my apple id but no luck

    • Dave

Had the same problem , ended up restoring and fresh JB with 0.4 , working fine up to now

  • Marvin

    This is a pointless comment

  • efe_eme

Perhaps this comment is not as important to many of you and miss among other comments, most do not read it, it may be criticized but anyway just wanted to say that I sell pies

    • Dan

      meat and potato ?

  • Guillem Pascual

Is it just me or there is no 0.4 update? Has it been taken out again?

  • rokemz

I have iPad Air 16 gigs wifi And I use the last tool of pango with ios 8.1 with the fix 0.2 of pango not 0.4 the last one so I don’t no if it’s relevant for you.

But if you restore from back up and you don’t have trouble with the rebooting so it’s fine but if you have so this is the fix for The problem.

    1. Select new iPad.
    2. don’t Restore from you’re backup stay on fresh copy.
    3. Insert you’re Apple id and all you’re data will come back with out apps and pictures “Parttical restore”.
4.now restore all back form your iTunes Manualy. Apps, pictures and so …

That do the trick for me and now everything is okay.

  • Chocolatewe

I want springtomize to be updated 🙁

  • 12345678

For some reason, when I updated to pang 0.4, watchspring tweak caused my iPhone to go into safemode. Before updating, the tweak was working fine. How could I make watchspring work again?

  • Vince Reedy

Anybody have issues with iBooks? It has completely disappeared from my device (air1), and does not appear in the App Store. I am on 8.1 jail broken.

  • Lurker22

Suggest waiting for Pangu 1.0 at this point…

    • Todd Young

      LOL. Yeah, no doubt.

  • Khalid Tahhan

No issues so far with this update..

  • MrNabmas

my safari on iphone 5 still doesnt load any webpages! 🙁 ive tried the fixes but they dont work , someone help?

  • CryptoCoin420

Only issue I still have even with this update is my stock music app crashes every time (it was doing it on the old version as well). Deleted all my music and re-synced with iTunes and still does the same crap. Any ideas?

    • Burner1234

If you are using mewseek it causes the music app to crash…

      • CryptoCoin420

Thank you so much! That was the issue.

  • Todd Young

Frequent updates usually implies we aren’t close to a stable version yet. If the Pangu team had completed more internal testing and with the JB developer community BEFORE releasing this JB to the end-user community, we probably wouldn’t be looking at the number and severity of issues associated with this one. Once we have a few weeks of no updates, chances are its a stable version. As for updating your phone, you can give it a go after backing up your device to iTunes, and if you run into problems, you can always restore.

    • MICKEYBLACKEYES

So do you suggest that i should update to this latest version? My phone is pretty stable right now.

  • Mark D

My iphone 4s still crashes everytime I access the camera 🙁

  • Jake Barbour

fixed everything for me except on the clock when you hit alarm it crashes everytime on my iphone 5, but other than that its great

    • Jens Pfingstl

My alarms doesn’t work. They deactivate after a short vibration.

      • Jens Pfingstl

Did a reboot – in flight mode – that solved the problem.

  • lonely soul

There is an issue with Pangu jailbreak .. I have almost restored, my iPhone 5s and ipad 4, 8 times and every time i shut down my iPhone or iPad i am stuck on the apple logo …have updated to 0.4 of the pangu tool but of no avail. I have tried the volume down trick, light sensor test and plugin into the electricity nothing seems to work. Any body who can suggest a solution to this…. 🙂

  • Yash

Does jailbreaking cause device lag ? I have an iPhone 5S running ios 8.1

  • Riptide

How to install updates on an already jail broken iPad?

  • Jens Pfingstl

Alarms on iPhone 5 8.1 didn’t work. Reboot in flight mode solved it.
