iPad Air 2 iPhone 6 bacbook air icloud drive

iCloud Drive is a new integrated cloud storage solution for Apple devices. It’s available on both iOS devices running iOS 8, and Macs with OS X Yosemite installed.

iCloud Drive taps into your existing iCloud Storage to act as a central hub for all of the files stored in iCloud. Watch our video walkthrough after the jump for additional insight…

The big difference with iCloud Drive as compared to previous implementations of iCloud, is that a). It’s easily accessible from the Finder. b). You can upload any type of file to iCloud Drive just as you would with any other folder in Finder. c). iOS devices and Macs can both access and share stored files.

Think of iCloud Drive as a natural evolution of iCloud, and as a potential Dropbox replacement. There’s even a Windows client for those of you who like to use Windows machines.

Have you experience iCloud Drive yet? If so, what are your thoughts on it thus far?

I have used the the iCloud drive for quite some time, I think it is a good way to share any type of files between apple devices. But the storage is a limitation.

      because it is not there

  • Rodolfo Aguiar

Which app do you use on the iPhone to access the files?

    • Logan Harrison

      Hi,
No specific app (at this time anyway). A document created in Pages and shared through it in iCloud Drive will be accessible in Pages app on your iPad/iPhone. Same goes with the other applications you set up iCloud Drive to work with. My understanding : third party apps on iOS will need to be updated by their devs to let you access iCloud Drive and use stored documents/files.

I understand what you are asking buddy.

Jeff what app are you using on the iPhone to access iCloud drive? That info would be nice

Is there an icloud drive app for iOS???

  • Coolex

He is using Documents 5, install it from App Store, press the cloud icon at the bottom, then at the top is a text ‘iCloud drive’, press it and there you access your cloud files or your own custom folders.

Honestly, Its sorta frustrating that there is not an iCloud Drive app for iPhone. I would like to be able to visit the iCloud drive items i have saved on my phone just as I can do on my macbook. I dont know why it is not there.

Can anyone please explain how iCloud photo library works?
my understanding is all photos are uploaded to iCloud, you buy storage options considering the amount of photos you have and they show up on all devices and they won’t take up local storage but will use cellular data or wifi on the iDevice to access them?
