buy iMac with Retina 5K display

Following today’s announcement of the iMac with Retina 5K display, the machine is now available for purchase on Starting at $2,499, the base iMac with Retina 5K display model comes with a 3.5GHz Quad-core Intel Core i5,  8GB 1600MHz DDR3 SDRAM, an AMD Radeon R9 M290X with 2GB of dedicated GDDR5 video memory for superior graphics performance, and a 1TB Fusion Drive.

Of course, the machine can be upgraded for screaming performances, but the basics should just do for anyone. Anyone that can afford it of course.

This new iMac is currently only available online and is scheduled to ship within 1 to 3 business days. These shipping estimates are likely to slip if the machine proves to be popular. It’s fair to assume that the new iMacs will be available in stores in the next day or two as well.

This is pretty much my dream machine here so I’ll be quick to buy one. What about you?

    • Ian Leon

So how much is a kidney worth now?

You’re right. The slogans they are using for these Keynotes don’t even make sence. Like the one with the Apple watch should have said something like “All in good time” or “Time for Something New.” Today’s event should have been called “Looking at things in a new way” not “Its been way too long.” I mean it has taken them a long time to update the screens on all of their devices. I’m a huge apple fan but some of these other companies are passing them by on screen resolution. I mean don’t get me wrong, 5K Retina is a start for the iMac but the mobile devices need to pick it up quicker. They are just updating the iphone 6 plus to 1080p this year. Really?!!

I agree with the general point but the Apple Watch one, anything that said time in it is pretty obvious. They’re only fun if they’re mysterious.

  • Is this Fusion Drive another way of saying SSHD?

    • R4

I dont think so. Apple use PCie based flash storage which is significantly faster than regular SSD so itll probably be faster than SSHD.

Well I never liked my ferrari.

    There you go Sebastien! #shutupandtakemymoney

I’m actually impressed by the 5k iMac and the pricing. They finally made something that out values it’s competitors.

  • thomas

was hoping they announced a retina macbook air, oh well

    • Andrew Roth

Early next year. There will be an event for the Apple Watch release info, new Macbooks, and a new Apple TV. I’ve lost hope in a new iPod. :p

Now if only Apple sent out press units…

  • Hussain Alsanona

Basically, I think they have another update for the mini early 2015. IMO

  • Noah Mospan

All I wanted was a retina iMac without the crazy price hike.
