charlie rose tim cook

Apple CEO Tim Cook is making the media rounds this week, following his company’s big product unveiling event on Tuesday. He’s spoken with ABC, The Wall Street Journal and several other outlets, and today he has popped up in an interview on PBS’ The Charlie Rose Show.

It’s a two-part interview, with the first segment airing today, and PBS has just posted a handful of clips from the conversation to YouTube. In them, Cook talks to Charlie about a wide range of topics, including Steve Jobs, Apple’s Beats acquisition, and its future plans for TV.

Again, the full first segment of the interview will air later tonight on PBS, with the second part airing on Monday night.

He sounds human. I like Tim. Something about him seems real. He isn’t this untouchable figurehead.

    • jack

who cares. all I care is great breakthrough products, which cook isnt delivering. i dont care if he “sounds human”. I want SJ’s genius in my next iphone

      • Look again at these products, at the videos and how their marketed, at how in depth there strategy is, and how much we care enough to comment about all of this, and realize that apple is getting growing and continuing to create groundbreaking products. They created a groundbreaking product in the iPhone, in the iPad, in the macbook air, and so on. You can’t break the ground of whats already broken ground, only add to it. They’re slowly adding to it. I believe the apple watch is the next groundbreaking product, and in 5 years people will again be looking at the 5th rendition saying “aww come on apple” even though, they love what apple has created.

Apple watch – studies the market of previous made smartwatches and then released it. Same goes with iPhone and iPad. iPad is basically a bigger iPhone, now they have taken things seriously for optimizing bigger screen with multi screen. I don’t care if they took the idea from others. “I only care that users are getting it and all the users should get the good features across all platform.”

      • joshalfie

        You don’t know jack 😉

  • becoolyolanda

he’s genuine, yes – but repatriate the dough bro…

  • MagicDrumSticks

A good person, but a shitty CEO

    • Bill Mcintyre

How is he a bad CEO?

      • Chun-Li aka ThunderThighs

iWatch and iPhone 6 and + says it all.

      • Jeffrey Feuerstein

I can agree with the Apple Watch part, the announcement just totally blew away all my hopes and dreams. The Apple Watch is one of the worst products Apple has ever made.

      • Rupinder S

You may think that, but I kind of like it now.

      • Jeffrey Feuerstein

Yes, it’s my opinion. And I know a lot of people have the same opinion. But you can like it of course.

      • jack

hmmm.. no. iphone 6 ugliness is. iwatch was ok as the 1st gen

      • Jeffrey Feuerstein

Nope, I personally think the iPhone 6 looks freaking hot. The fact that the Apple Watch is first gen doesn’t mean it should have an absolutely horrible design.

      • vifish

Cool! Do you already have apple watch to say that?

      • Jeffrey Feuerstein

What, are you really saying that you need to own a device to judge it’s design? Don’t act stupid.

      • joshalfie

It’s interesting. When Apple introduced the iPod, the iPhone and the iPad they were met with similar criticism. And look at where they are now.

I take your opinion as a good sign 🙂

      • Mikasa Ackerman

Record sales = Horrible CEO. Ok…

You may not like the product. But, all that matters are sales… And he’s getting them.

      • MagicDrumSticks

Record sales is due to Steve Jobs’ legacy. He created a brand name for Cook to ride off of.

      • Mikasa Ackerman

Yep, brands just last forever as long as they have a good strong brand name, even with a horrible CEO. Nokia remembers this well, huh?

Listen, if Tim was as horrible as you say, he wouldn’t still be the CEO after all these years still posting good numbers for the company.

You may have some anger towards Tim, but that doesn’t make him a horrible CEO.

    • Steven Honey

A shifty ceo would be one that runs the company into the ground. We have yet to see that.

      • jack

they could go WITHOUT a CEO for years without “running the company into the ground”

  • Chun-Li aka ThunderThighs

He destroyed what Apple is. All you Apple Fanboys can go ahead and kiss this mans feet I won’t. Had all intentions to get a iPhone 6 even though the 5 size was perfect for me. But for them to drop a 32 for a 16(wtf? Binary law all f*cked up) is beyond ridiculous. Seeing how everyone just months ago complainng about the protruding camera, back panel attennas to now calling it gods gift is pathetic. Let’s be honest iPhone 6 doesn’t offer nothing amazing for the prices they already haven’t offered for the 5S. When the 6S comes out people are going to be mad because it will have all the shocking features that should of been in the 6. Tim has screwed up what Apple should of been. Innovative but recently Apple is just money hungry. Yeah Steve was a d*ck but Atleast he wasn’t laid back and tried to push the boundaries unlike Tim is.

    • Peter

They didn’t drop 32 gb for 16 gb. They dropped 32 for 64 to add 128

      • Rupinder S

        Exactly!

    • Rupinder S

Pretty smart move when you think about it. Now instead of contemplating whether you should get a 16 or 32 (twice the space), you debate 16 vs 64 (four times the space). Obviously the 64 will get more sales than the 32 would have. You can’t be mad about something not happening that was rumored to happen. It’s not as if Apple promised us to drop 16 for 32.

    • Mr.Coolfreak

      It’s a business…

  • Indian Food

Damn, all his shit is still in his office and his name still on the door. I can’t imagine what it feels like walking past that every day.

  • Jeffrey Feuerstein

He just totally gave away that Apple is very busy with the Apple TV and that they’re trying to reinvent the TV (interface, experience etc.)! So excited, I just hope they won’t design it like the Apple Watch…

  • Andrew Breyen

Does anyone know when on PBS??? Is it the Charlie Rose Show??

    • Jeffrey Feuerstein

Yes it is the Charlie Rose show. The interview is split in two parts, part one airs ‘later tonight’ and part two airs monday night.

  • Matt Taylor

Someone should ask him why Apple won’t spend a further $9 per unit to double the pathetic 1GB of ram!

  • G-HaB

Tim Cook is a money makin brotha. Keep innovatin cuz

  • GuyWithTheThings

I wonder if Steve is up there, and if he can fast forward through time to see where his company will end up.

  • Usama

Its called the apple watch to have room for the name iWatch for the tv set.
