iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus

Apple just posted the intro video of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus. If you haven’t seen it during the live event, now is your time to catch up on some alone time with Jony Ive, walking you though the magnificence of both devices.

Thoughts?

  • Chris Jackson

Is the “contract free” iPhone 6 factory unlocked?

    • Yes. If you don’t buy a contract iPhone it is unlocked.

      • Damian

whats the price for unlocked with no contract?

      • Anthony Antunez

Currently on the website though, the contract free iPhone is the T-Mobile one. What if I don’t want T-Mobile, just an unlocked iPhone?

      • ɑղժɾҽա

No, it is locked to T-Mobile.

  • Jonathan

    I think I’m drooling.

    • Im upset those actors get the hold/use the phones and we have to wait almost two weeks lol.

      • Martin

        Lucky ducks :S

    • Kenrick Fernandes

Jonathan really? You impressed with it? It’s basically a 5s with a nfc chip and a larger screen. There are no major improvements. If the specs from china mobile are to be believed then the 4.7 comes with a 1860 mAh battery which is what???? 300 more than the 5s battery. Come on.. the battery life on the 5 and 5s is sh** already.

      • Jhonatan Kendall Del Rosario

        thanks to explain them again…

  • Ваше Онтатиле Масвибилили

Well they did it again. Cant wait to get one. Let the iPhone 7 rumours begin…

    • Brian 

iPhone 7 isn’t coming out for another 2 years..

      • Ваше Онтатиле Масвибилили

        My bad

  • Andy

Why is there no 1080p slo-mo? It looks like all smartphones use 720p for it.

    • Probably because it would demolish the battery life in a few minutes.

      • James Gunaca

And take up a shit ton of storage capacity. Even at 128GB, recording video at 1080p 60fps is going to take up an incredible amount of storage.

      • Thats true too.

    • kaliente

They said on the Keynote loud and clear – 1080p slow motion videos

  • Martin

iDB, a wallpaper post next plix plox 🙂

  • regkilla

ill just keep my iPhone 5s.

    • Marcus

I’ll probably keep my iPhone 5s until the iPhone 7 which would be somewhere in 2016.

      • Jeffery Leo

It will be an iPhone 6s Plus 😀

    • Kenrick Fernandes

You my friend have made the best call ever. Keep it. The new 6 is just a 5s with a nfc chip and a larger screen which you can very well LIVE WITHOUT.

  • Nuff Said

What Jony Ive basically said at the start is that they needed a shit hardware design to go along with their shit software design.

  • Micaiah Martin

I guess I can’t really say much till I get to see it in person, but WTF is up with the protruding camera lens? Not cool Apple. It sticks out like a sore thumb. Why couldn’t they of held off on making it thinner so they could keep the lens flush with the back panel?

    • Jason Jones

I agree in a way. Not only could it have been a touch thicker to make the camera flush, but it would have allowed for an even larger battery.

That being said, I don’t believe it protrudes very much. Sure it looks like it does, but if you think about the fact that the phone is less than 7 mms thick, it’s maybe a mm at most.

      • Micaiah Martin

Yes, but you are still going to see it..and feel it. So it’s going to not only look awkward, but feel awkward. Which is my point. I’ve never questioned Jony Ive’s ideas for design, till today.

      • Chang in Charge

lol you definitely won’t feel it how often do you hold your phone and cover the camera lens

      • Micaiah Martin

Well not when holding it per-say. More like when in motion. Ex: Relocating the phone to my pocket, vice versa. Handing my phone to people, and vice versa. Picking up my phone, and setting it back down, etc.

I have a 4S now and the camera lens is practically flush as well. More flush than the iPhone 6 (or at least looks like). Yet, I still feel it with everyday use.

      • Kenrick Fernandes

Also we will have to be very careful while placing it down on the table. The protruding camera on that damn thing might just get insanely scratched

      • TeChNoStyLeZ

yes if your damn table is made out of diamond lol

    • mlee19841

Yea. That cam lens throw me off. From the leaks. I said to my self. They are going to have a flush surface. Guess not. The leaks were spot on.

    • @dongiuj

I can imagine catching the lens on your trouser pockets. Annoying….

  • Chris

It’s quite pathetic that Apple still uses the it’s thinner than ever before as a MAIN selling point. Just pathetic.

    • gittlopctbi

Yep. Once you get to a certain thinness, it really doesn’t matter anymore. I mean, you DO have to hold on to the thing! (I’d rather have awesome battery life than a thinner phone.)

  • InfinitePlusOne

Anyone got a link to watch the thing again? I missed it coz of work, now cant find any links

    • Rowan09

Go on the Apple website it’s there.

      • InfinitePlusOne

Didn’t work on chrome on windows. Safari keeps crashing when I try to load the website on iPhone 5. Got no other devices

      • Andy

Kinda ironic that we can’t view Apple’s keynote on Apple’s own web browser. It just crashes…

    • David Gitman

you didnt missed much…the event sucked anyways.. laggy and a chinese lady was talking

      • Matt Taylor

        Lol. My thoughts exactly

      • Yeah, the Chinese crap really aggravated me, I kept refreshing the page thinking it somehow mistook me for living in China -_-

      • Kenrick Fernandes

You are living in china. You just don’t know it. The chinese took over secretly a long long time ago.

  • Jim

The contract free phone says T-Mobile. Wonder if it will be t-mobile only, or will work on Verizon?

    • Rowan09

The t-mobile version is the unlocked version (GSM), you’ll need to get the Verizon model which comes unlocked by default for international usage.

      • Jim

Yes its on apple’s site, but that is for ‘contract’ phones. I am under contract so I need to purchase full price and it does not appear to be an option other than with T-mobile.

      • Rowan09

They don’t allow you to purchase it for Verizon on the website full price to my understanding. Only t-mobile since they don’t do contracts anymore .

      • Jim

Yeah, I am going to have to go to the apple store I suppose.

  • LMAOSTFU

it’s not water resistant like the “rumours” said. :)) so just a lil drop of fat people’s sweat, and it’s dead.

  • butterfield

It’s beautiful bit too damn big for me. I’m sticking with my 5S.

    • Brian 

I guess you’re never upgrading to another iPhone again! Better take good care of that 5S and start looking at an Android alternative to upgrade to eventually.

      • Kenrick Fernandes

huh? Butterfield is right. But that doesn’t mean he needs to shift to android. I’m using a 5 myself but the new iphones have no incentives to upgrade at all. It’s just a 5s with a nfc chip and bigger screen.

      • Brian 

What will happen when his iPhone finally stops working? Apple isn’t going to start making smaller screens in the future, the 5S will be the last with the 4″ screen so yes, he will have to shift to android after this iPhone.

      • Rowan09

Better camera, faster processor, better battery life and better screen. Aren’t all upgrades usually the same criteria?

  • GuyBey0ndC00L

No Multi-Windows, home button still getting over used. The leaks was right, both the i6 and i6+ still look kind of ugly.

    • Micaiah Martin

I’m glad they kept the home button. I hope they never get rid of it for a long long time. It’s more of a tradition than an actual need. Sure Apple could get rid of it, but that would be losing one of the iconic things of the iPhone. Also, home buttons aren’t as touchy as sensors 🙂

      • Kenrick Fernandes

Just because it’s iconic apple shouldn’t remove it? Mmkay?

    • mlee19841

Would have been sweet if they used some kind of slide method to bring the interface down. When you double click the home button.

    • Rowan09

Why should they get rid of the home button and Touch ID? Virtual buttons are horrible in my opinion and even Samsung say that a physical home button makes sense. Like @Micaiah said it is iconic just like when you see a oval home button it’s a Samsung phone and the round one is an iPhone. Multiple-window will be released when the iPad is announced next month and I would assume it’s going to be for the iPad(s) and the Plus.

      • GuyBey0ndC00L

Never said get rid of the home button, I like the home button. I said and I quote “home button still getting over used.” Still would like multi windows option at least for iPad.

      • Rowan09

Ok but the multi-window option will be released on 8.1 I assume when the iPad is revealed.

  • Chang in Charge

hands on with the new iphone 6 and 6 + at the same damn time! with alu-minium so thin it looks like paper!

    • gittlopctbi

I’ll bet you get awesome battery life, too!

      • Kenrick Fernandes

Where can i get a screen case for that !!!

    • ɑղժɾҽա

I want to print those out. Source link?

  • Rot Kelfer

I’m not super impressed. I have a feeling there was a room to really improve and go beyond the competition – to leave all the haters with their mouths shut. Bigger screen, slightly improved camera (the sample pics did not impress me much), slightly thinner, slightly improved battery life, that’s all. I’m a long time Apple user, but I can’t feel a bit disappointed. And the looks, well, it does remind me of an HTC phone, or some other phone I have already seen – the point being, it’s not innovative or one of a kind. Which is sad because that is what Apple used to be, 100%.

    • Matt Taylor

      Completely agree

      • mlee19841

Same here. Bigger screen with only a gig of ram. Guess we shall see.

    • gittlopctbi

      +1

Nothing revolutionary here. Samsung and other phones have had these features for years. Yes, it’s revolutionary for Apple, but not for the industry. Maybe some year we’ll get all the other goodies that were left out of this release.

      • mlee19841

Thought they were gonna have a killer camera and longer battery life for the regular 6 not match the 5s. Then let the 6+ have the better battery life. Anyway.

    • Kenrick Fernandes

my thoughts exactly. sad sad day for an apple user like me. This doesn’t give me an incentive to upgrade by 5 @ all

  • LMAOSTFU

Ok… let’s all stop whining and wait for the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6++.

  • Tom C

Apple sucks they are still using 3 year technology with dual core the only good thing about apple is their music chip

  • jack

Negative points: terrible keynote stream, uglier design since iphone3gs, no sapphire, no rf360 global lte chip, and no breakthrough battery.

    • Danial

      and same camera 4s has

  • JayDee917

1GB of RAM and 1.4ghz dual-core processor. Seems pretty outdated especially when compared to the 2.5ghz quad-core 3GB LG G3.

I don’t think the processor will be an issue. But I’m sure the 1GB of RAM will be limiting, especially once it’s jailbroken and it’s running additional processes. I don’t understand why they wouldn’t throw in an additional gig?

    • Danial

Tim cook only thinks about profit! why are they still selling iPad 2 , they changed iphone 5 to 5c cuz 5c cost less and still sell it at same price. iphone 6 $200 for 16gb but there is no 32gb version
they really thinks we are sheep , I have never had android before but im going to switch

    • They’ve gotta save the “innovative” spec bumps for the S series…I can imagine the S version standing for or Split-Screen (for true multitasking, which definitely would require double the RAM).

  • Chang in Charge

only thing that I’m worried about is when i go running its super easy for me to actually run with my iphone in hand and track my steps idk how easy it will be for me to do that with a 5.5″ device

    • George

It won’t be easy at all

    • Kenrick Fernandes

say goodbye to running. Start walking

  • Al

It’s amazing. People complained the Iphone wasn’t big enuff, now it’s too big. The innards could be better. Everything else is debatable. But that might make more people complain.

  • gittlopctbi

    Well…it’s true.

  • George

The iPhone has had the same camera since the iPhone 4s that was released in 2010. Sticking with my moto x until apple decides to get with the times.

  • Wild2nite

What’s the song on the third video ??

  • mlee19841

With th new 6 coming out. Any word on if we can attach different files other then pics to email? But is the phone slippery. If you go case less and get past a certain screen size. The phone is just asking to be slipped out of the hand.

  • ClaudieX X

Your joke doesn’t work with the iphone users… and I tell you why… even the 2013’s Galaxy S4 with one year of use isn’t as smooth as the 2011’s iphone 4s with 3 years of use. Retina Display ACA IPS LCD +300ppi screen was released on the 2010’s iphone 4 so the nexus came 3 years later… and even with less ppi… (iphone 4 326ppi vs nexus 318ppi). 16GB of capacity??? without external microSD expansion?? on 2012’s ??? come on… you match the 2007’s 1st iPhone !!!… Look what iPhone can do with 1GB of ram… what Android can’t with 2GB,,, look how android works after a couple of months with and octa core processor… and then look how iOS works after 3 years with a dual core processor… so… Moral of a fable: Is not what you have… is what you can do with that…

    • Hahaha, EVERY single excuse you made to defend the iPhone being inferior to the competition is pointing to any other device but the actual one in the picture! How asinine can you fanboys get?The truth is right there in front of you, yet you close your eyes to it and make BS excuses out of thin air…such iHypocrites.

Said a jailbroken iPhone 4s user who’s never used an Android device as a personal SmartPhone.

      • ClaudieX X

You always the same… This conversation is like… The iPad is not a revolution!! There were tablets many years before it…. !!!
An The person must explain that yes… The technology was there before but doing nothing but loosing money…
You think that 4 is always 2 + 2… And 4 could be the result of an equation almost as large as this page. So I see the specs, but you must see what the OS need to work. Tech nowedays is not how much horse power you have… It’s how fast can you go with less power… That’s the way 1.4 car engines can run as fast as 2.0 enfines. Sorry if you can’t take what I’m saying

      • Mindless zombies are really indistinguishable. They always fall to stuff along the lines of “it sells more so it’s better”, proving their ignorance right on the spot. I’m not gonna waste my time on this again, here’s a video (http://bit ly/1zZuSzR) of the truth about all this “it sells more” gadgets…take the red pill whenver you’re ready.

      • ClaudieX X

Thank you for the video… is perfect… and I think the same way… But due your lack of knowledge about the iOS and Android architecture, we are at opposite sidewalks…

    • BozzyB

The picture shows a Nexus 4. It is without any means one of the phones with the fastes userinterface right behind the Nexus 5. And your argument aginst Samsung phones or Android is also not convincing because they come with 100+ more functions than of an iOS device. True – they are not fast as a Nexus, but still faster than an iphone.

      • ClaudieX X

So by your style of thinking the nexus 4 is faster than the iPhone 6 because nexus is a quad core… So Intel core 2 at 2.0 have the same performance as the pentium 4 at 2.0…

  • @dongiuj

Funny how Ive compares both the new iPhones to the original iPhone. 7 generation gap…
