Apple Watch Milanese

The Apple Watch is as much about individuality and customizability as it is about technology. Tim Cook and company proudly showcased the many customization options available for the Apple Watch, and it is quite impressive.

Whereas other wearable have launched with perhaps a handful of self-identifying options, the Apple Watch features a gaggle of possible combinations. It’s quite possible that everyone in your circle could buy an Apple Watch, and all of them would look vastly different.

The Apple Watch comes in 3 collections, 6 different finishes, a plethora or bands, two sizes, and nearly a dozen faces. Its a mix and matcher’s dream, and certainly one of its biggest selling points. Check inside, as we break down all that the Apple Watch has to offer when it comes to personalization.

Collections

To start, the Apple Watch comes available in three different collections. The collections are as follows:

  • Apple Watch
  • Apple Watch Sport
  • Apple Watch Edition

Apple Watch

The Apple Watch

The Apple Watch is the basic style of Apple Watch, a baseline, if you will. The standard Apple Watch comes with highly polished scratch-resistant stainless steel and a space black stainless steel case. The watch’s display is covered in sapphire crystal for added protection. There are 18 different models in the Apple Watch collection.

Apple Watch Sport

The Apple Watch Sport

The Apple Watch Sport is for the more active user. Its cases are fashioned out of lightweight anodized aluminum in silver and space gray. The display one-up’s the standard Apple Watch display when it comes to durability, as it is protected by strengthened Ion-X glass. There are 10 different models in the Apple Watch Sport collection.

Yellow Gold Edition Apple Watch

Apple Watch Edition in 18-Karat Yellow Gold

Lastly, the Apple Watch Edition caters to the business professional, or at least, those who care most about style and grace. The Apple Watch Edition will likely be the most pricey of all of the Apple Watches available, seeing that it comes wrapped in a case crafted from 18-karat gold, which has been developed to be up to twice as hard as standard gold. Like the standard Apple Watch, the Edition comes covered with polished sapphire crystal. The Apple Watch Edition will be available in both yellow and rose gold colors.

Finishes

The Apple Watch comes in a total of six different finishes.

Apple Watch finishes

Finishes include stainless steel, aluminum, and gold, and each finish comes in two styles. The different finishes, a total of six, are as follows:

Stainless steel: Standard, and Space Black

Aluminum: Silver, and Space Gray

Gold: 18K Yellow Gold, and Rose Gold

The stainless steel finish is available on the standard Apple Watch, while the anodized aluminum is relegated to the Apple Watch Sport. Finally, as one would expect, the Apple Watch Edition, with its pricey appearance, uses the gold finishes.

Bands

The Apple Watch comes with a whole host of different bands, allowing wearers to assert individuality. The bands are special because they require no finagling to change them out and replace then with other bands. Each band has been created from a variety of materials for a truly personal look.

Apple Watch bands

The bands include the following six styles, and outside of the Milanese Loop, each features multiple color options.

Sport Bands:

  • White
  • Black
  • Blue
  • Green
  • Pink

Classic Buckle

  • Black
  • Midnight Blue

Milanese Loop

Modern Buckle:

  • Soft Pink
  • Brown
  • Blue
  • Bright Red
  • Rose Gray

Leather Loop

  • Stone
  • Bright Blue
  • Brown

Link Bracelet

  • Stainless Steel
  • Space Black Stainless Steel

Sizes

The Apple Watch comes in two face sizes—a 38mm version, and a slightly larger 42mm version.

Apple Watch sizes

Women traditionally wear watches that are smaller than men’s watches, so this should ensure that there is a watch that works with everyone’s style on launch day.

Faces

Finally, the Apple Watch comes with a variety of different watch faces. These watch faces are of the digital variety, and can be changed on a whim via its software.

Apple Watch Faces

There are 11 faces to choose from, and the faces include the following choices:

  • Chronograph
  • Color
  • Modular
  • Timelapse
  • Solar
  • Astronomy
  • Motion
  • Utility
  • Mickey Mouse
  • Simple
  • Photo

The Chronograph watch face is the more traditional looking face, while you can assign a photo, or perhaps a slideshow to the Photo watch face.

So, in a nutshell, there are two different face sizes, three different collections, six types of finishes, a dozen and a half bands to choose from, and eleven different watch faces! I don’t think there’s any question that the Apple Watch, from day one, features many more personalization options than any of its competitors. What say you?

  • Micky Ganon

      • Yujin

Is ok. Some people don’t have Taste and think that by buying something it will come naturally

      • springer85

Taste?Galaxy 1-5 has had the SAME design for 6 years!!

      • Micky Ganon

I’m pretty sure you do not have an iPhone and would never have an iPhone ..

IPhone 6 is ugly in relation to the iPhone 5S

      • Beat Modz

        nah

    • YES! I was just going to say this! The watch is ugly, what the hell is up with that font choice, and the iPhone 6? It looks like they took 10 minutes to design it.

      • springer85

Iphone 6 design is miles better than the 5s!

      • Oh how I wish I could tell you this is true

      • maverickmax

        lmao

    • It actually looks like a refined iPod nano 6th gen. Not ugly at all IMO. Very sleek and sexy.

    • CAS

      Humans are afraid of change.

      • Micky Ganon

Maybe you still do not know, but it’s just a phone ..

It’s not that you go live tomorrow morning in another country, because it really is a big change ..

Here we only talk about personal taste ..

      • CAS

If that is your personal taste, please don’t say it’s ugly only because you don’t like it, I love the Apple Watch, yet I know some people will prefer a Moto360 or whatever samsung names their watches.

      • Micky Ganon

        i prefer seiko my friend

      • iBanks

Actually, it’s not just an phone. It’s an iPhone. “An breakthrough phone, Internet communicator and iPod” and more at this point. 😉

    • maverickmax

      iphone3 Aphone3s ANhone4 ANDne4s ANDRne5 ANDROe5s ANDROIe6 ANDROID6+..slowly… but definately

  • Ara Rezaee

Not feelin’ it, not at all

  • August Ebbesen

  • svartkuken

Okay so my eyes are still exposed to some of these new things, I try to look away and cry some but I was out getting drunk instead of watching the keynote so… where can I find the full thing RIGHT NOW?

  • Jony Ive isn’t delivering anymore… I take it he thinks he can slack off as lead designer. Android may be in my future…

    • springer85

Go to SAMESung then and quit crying!!

      • Samsuck is not where I would be switching… I’d go to Nexus or Motorola if anything

  • highNiggaPie

At least they made a smaller version for us skinny niggas

  • Nuff Said

Apple Watch design: 3 collections, 6 finishes, 18 bands, 2 sizes, 11 faces & a whole load of garbage.

    • springer85

Go to SAMESung then and quit crying!!!

      • Domodo

You’re the one constantly crying about Samsung. You are acting like a child.

    • Beta382

All that for only $349! 😀 (/Must/ purchase iPhone separately)

      • And if you pay an extra $499 we will include a genuine leather case (shipped separately)

      • Beta382

Like, really for real GENUINE leather? I’ll take twelve.

On the cool though, this Apple Watch could have been really good. It has nifty functionality, but from what I can tell from the images of it, the visual interface looks… weird, the watch itself isn’t especially attractive, and it has that bulge on the underside (how can that possibly be comfortable?) And it is super expensive.

I can see next year’s Apple Watch 2 being a hit, once they learn from this year’s (egregious) mistakes, and offer phone+watch combos at like a $150 markdown (bringing the price of the watch to a “reasonable” $200). (The only reason Apple is able to continue selling products at the ridiculously high prices they sell them at is brand recognition. If they were a totally new contender in the market, and entered with what they announced today, people would say “Whoa, those are cool devices, but they aren’t worth nearly that much”).

  • Aviorrok

I thought that iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are equal only with a different screen why no have iPhone 6 plus with 4.7″?

  • Supafly_Boy

Looks like Jony Ive has completely lost his touch. Without Steve Jobs to point the design team in the right direction, Apple is now pumping out ugly designs. First iOS 7, now the Apple watch.

    • springer85

      LMFAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • springer85

LMFAO at the peeps crying in here about how ugly the watch looks……….WHO CARES?
It will sell Millions and Millions and destroy the crap SAMESung came up with so a win win fr Apple!

    • The people “crying” aren’t Apple, so its not a win for us. We don’t care how much money the corporations make. We just want a product that suits our needs and is practically designed.

  • siddique

bad iPhone ever and very bad design of watch

  • Andy

Whatever way you put it, the watch is ugly.

    • springer85

So what!!!Will STILL DESTROY the crap SAMESUNG came out with!

      • Stephen Hagans

Dude, what kind of consumer are you? Who cares who “destroys” who… I care about what I want to buy. .. are you being paid off? lol

      • springer85

No you are a SAMESung guzzler, go to their website and blow one off to the phone that has kept the SAME design for 6 years!!
        LMFAO!

      • Beta382

He’s a troll. If you don’t feed them, they eventually dry out and shrivel up.

      • Stephen Hagans

My apologies, you’re right.. had a weak moment… carry on.

      • springer85

Awww do not cry as the Iphone 6 and Apple Watch will DESTROY SAMESung crappy S5 and plastic watch!!
        LMFAO

      • “LMFAO” i can find that in almost everyone one of ur comments

      • Beat Modz

haha Samesung ? how about the iPhone? it just change OS after 40 years lol .. atleast samsung tries to do stuff people would not use but atleast you try to make some people happy

  • Past0rB

Can’t wait to preorder the iPhone 6 and get my hands on the Apple Watch. Both look amazing to me and incredibly functional. Once again Apple is leaps and bounds ahead of the rest.

    • springer85

      Preach it!!

    • Andrew Roth

Says the person who was probably bashing Samsung for having a5.5″ screen last year…

      • Past0rB

I’ll actually be going 4.7 and whatever Samsung does barely hits my radar. I’m Apple invested and true. Never been disappointed except with my Mac Mini. Otherwise I love me some Apples.

      • Jessica Lynn Guyton

I’m with you. I LOVE my apples. I have a macbook pro laptop I just got this year (first one I’ve ever had) and my iPhone 4s I’ve had 2 1/2 yrs (first iPhone) and LOVE it. I will never go back to android or PC ever again. I actually got the galaxy S4 last year. And HATED it. With a passion. I sent it back and got my husband the HTC One and took my 4S back. lol I didn’t care for the 5 or 5S but can’t wait to get my 6 when they are released next weekend. And super excited for spring to come so I can get my watch 🙂

  • Elvin Topalov

I think the new iPhones are amazing, especially the Plus variant. But the Apple Watch is terrible in design tbh. The rectangular display clashes with most of the watch faces since they are circular. Would love if the Moto 360 worked with iOS. Still hate the fact you have to choose most smartwatches based on your phone’s OS.

    • springer85

The Apple Watch will change next year just like all Apple products do.
This is a test to see what the consumer feed back is, if everything else is loved apart from the display then next year they will change t.

      • Elvin Topalov

That is the usual. Apple can easily add more watch faces that look more professional with software updates if they wanted. And the Apple Watch is in the same situation as the Moto 360. It’s a great watch but Motorola has to figure out a better way to implement the sensors without having to add a black bar to the bottom of the display. They most likely will implement that into next years design for it. They have minor design problems since they are the 1st gen. The 1st gen is almost always a test.

  • CAS

I just fell in love with the Apple Watch

  • Merman123

Everyone says things until they actually get their hands on one. Stop pretending like you’re all designers staying on your iPhone 5s. You will buy the 6 AND the watch before you know it.

    • springer85

      EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Judging a product on PICTURES!!
      LOL

    • AndroidWatch

The Apple watch design is ugly and boring. Steve Jobs would have agreed. Check out the Moto 360. Compared to the Apple watch, it looks better. The Apple Watch is mostly a squarish, clunky, and bulky device with a screen that go on your wrist. It mostly does things your phone does, and it mostly relies on your phone for a good portion of their functionality! It cost is a whopping $350!

      • The original Galaxy Gear watch was a MUCH better deal at $300, right??
I mean, you still needed a galaxy or note… & it didn’t really do anything other than act as a Bluetooth, and it was bulkier….
        But that’s ok, right?

    • Speaking for your iSheep herd I see…

  • Matt

Love the design of the watch. Love the attention to detail. Not so much with the phone I feel like the back of it makes my eyes bleed especially the protruding camera.

    • springer85

Go to Apple .com and it explains why they did the protruding camera in description.

      • Matt

I’d much rather have an older camera than one that protrudes.
But then agin I’m not going to judge since I won’t be buying a new phone until 2015 when my contact ends when the 6s will be available – and it better be a success otherwise HTC One, here I come. (That did rhyme)

  • Hyr3m

Oh, wow… Can I puke yet?
Fungliest Apple design to date! Oh… wait… forgot the iPhone 6 xD

  • aw81

I really like the black stainless one now I’ve had a better look at it.
It’s nowhere near as ugly as everyones saying in my opinion.

  • Charlie

You all wanted the “precious” iWatch. And Apple delivered. You can only do so much with a Watch. Did you really think Apple wouldn’t have made it high cost apple after all the media and speculation around it? It’s time to Pay up or shut up.

  • Lance Baker

Guess I’m the only one that prefers it square. It’s not a typical watch so it shouldn’t look like one.

    • Jakob Voogd

I totaly agree with you, I also love the watch

    • Jessica Lynn Guyton

I agree. I like that its square. I’ve never been big on round. Probably why I don’t currently own a watch. and havent for a VERY long time. The last one I did use was a DKNY square one with a red leather band. LOVED it. till it was stolen 🙁 Looking forward to getting this next spring.

  • iBanks

Reminds of when I had my iPod nano w/ watchband and I loved it. And everyone was interested in what was on my wrist. This is awesome. Can’t wait to purchase.

  • JayDee917

I really wish this watch had the chamfered edges around the face the iPhone 5 introduced. Those edges made the iPhone almost feel like fine jewelry, it would have been beautiful here. I’m not a huge fan of design overall, but it’s far from ugly. IMO, the shape would have been better if it wasn’t so bulgy and rounded, it kind of reminds me of the original iPhone. A nice, sleek, flat design would have fit this watch better.

I’m glad they allowed exchangeable bands, and come in different finishes, but I wish there was a way to change finishes without having to buy a whole other watch.

  • xavier

I like the applewatch and will be getting one.. Thats just me i know a lot of people dont like it but..

  • Vighnesh Manick

See, I’d buy it, but I’m too cheap… So only iPhone 6 (maybe plus). Besides that, I like a rounded display more than the square; its kinda over done

  • MacGuru17

I fail to see what’s so hideous about this watch, or the new iPhone. I think it looks great.

    • Jessica Lynn Guyton

I love the look of the watch, and I’m a very picky person, especially when it comes to watches. Which is probably why I havent had one in YEARS. lol I think most these ppl just have bad taste. Also think it has a lot to do with the Apple haters. Ppl that hate something so much it doesnt matter what comes out of the company. They will ALWAYS find something negative about it. I think the watch and the iPhone 6 look amazing. And will be getting mine as soon as they are available. Doesnt matter what others think. As long as your happy with it, thats all that matters. Screw them. Opinions are like A**holes. everyone has one 😉 lol

  • Kevin Osborne

    Typo:

    Bands

The Apple Watch comes with a whole host of different bands, allowing wearers to assert individuality. The bands are special because they require no finagling to change them out and replace then with other bands. Each band has been created from a variety of materials for a truly personal look.

“-and replace then with other bands.”

    Just helping out. 🙂

  • Oceans

Where could I find a gold band for the watch.??
