I don’t think anyone in their right mind would seriously question Apple’s motivation to reportedly market and sell bigger iPhones this year.

Moreover, many pundits and watchers are in agreement that Apple will indeed enter new product categories this year with a rumored iWatch wearable device, said to combine health and fitness functions.

What’s unclear though is the timing for these product launches. We already know it’s going to be action-packed Fall, but you’d be wise not to keep your fingers crossed for a simultaneous launch of both new iPhones and iWatches…

A write-up by GforGames, based on a post on Chinese micro-blogging platform Weibo [Google translate], suggests that we’re unlikely to see the Apple smartwatch or iPhablet before December.

As a result, only a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 would apparently launch in September, with new iPads said to be coming the following month.

The source suggests that the highly-anticipated iWatch will be released alongside the larger iPhone 6, so as of yet, it seems that the 4.7-inch model could be all by itself when the time comes to hit the stage

The theory is supported by a pair of previously published rumors.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo speculated recently that Apple may have pushed mass production of the wrist-worn device back more than a month, into late-November. I myself opined that we may not see the rumored fitness/health device from Apple before Spring 2015.

As for the 5.5-inch iPhone 6, Chinese media last week said the phablet-class device is slated to enter production in September alongside upcoming new iPads. The 4.7-inch iPhone 6 is said to have entered mass-production earlier this month.

Further corroborating the claim that we won’t see a double-iPhone launch in September like last year: we have seen virtually nothing in terms of leaks specific to that device as all of the leaked parts and components seemingly belong to its 4.7-inch counterpart.

See and hold but see it announced is most likely.

  • Tony

I’m still hoping Apple announces the 5.5 and releases it within a month of the 4.7. I really don’t want the 4.7, would rather take the bigger (bigger) screen. Guess we shall see, official announcements will be made soon.

God this sucks…it doesnt really make any sense cause of people with 2 year contracts. I’m already getting tired of my iphone 5. I’m held back getting a new battery case because I didnt wanna waste my money for only 2 months of use. Now I might rethink my strategy.

    • Jack Wong

I was on the same boat as you, but I don’t really care about the contract, I am more concern about the “locked” phone, I travel once a year, I don’t want to bring 2 phones with me…

So I have switched to the at&t off contract plan, I would rather pay full for my phone and gave up the “unlimited data”(5GB).

      • Rowan09

T-mobile might be a better fit since they offer international unlimited data and text.

      • Jack Wong

I bought the iPad Air with Tmobile service last year, and I went to Hong Kong, Taiwan, and China in last Nov, it did not have service signal at all…

Same thing happen to one of my client… no service no matter if we were indoor or outdoor, then we called Tmobile and they said they cannot guarantee the signal and we just did not have even 1 successful connection…

I would rather buy the local sim card, and just make sure we have the unlocked devices.

I will stick with at&t as long as I have good reception at my home and work, since I spend most of my time in these 2 places.

      • Rowan09

Wow. I buy my phones straight up so my iPhone is factory unlocked anyways if you purchase the t-mobile version. I went to Turks and Caicos which is unknown by most of the world and had perfect signal there with t-mobile jumping on Digicel’s network. I’m surprise a country like China especially Hong Kong not having signal.

      • Jack Wong

I have also changed my at&t to off contract plan.

Moreover, Apple has a marketing strategy with those carries, unlocked phone will be very limited at the beginning, and at iPhone 5 launch, as I remember, they did not have the unlocked iPhone on day 1.

      • Rowan09

Yes but now if you purchase the t-mobile version it is the unlocked version. I purchased my iPhone 5s as the t-mobile and if you purchase the phone straight up it’s always unlocked now.

      • Jack Wong

As for iPhone 5S, they already have unlocked version on day1 but limited stock… even the locked version, it took me a month to get that.

Tmobile, as I know, there are 2 kinds, one is locked and the other one is unlocked, I am not sure… I can’t catch up with all these changes anymore… like the Verizon iPhone 5 GSM is unlocked but not LTE, then the Verizon iPhone 5s is fully unlocked, they have something new every few months

Anyway, my 5S will be out of contract by Sep, or Oct, and I will go for unlocked version for sure this time. I do not mind to pay for my phone in full price if my plan is off contract.

I’ve lived in NY, SF and a few other cities in the US. I am now stationed in Hong Kong and travel quite extensively. HK is so small you can find a signal anywhere (subway, elevators) and 4G speeds are amazing.

I’m betting that both the 4.7 and 5.5 inch iPhones drop at the same time with the 5.5 inch having limited availability upon launch. I think considering the size of current iPhones that most people will want that 4.7 inch on launch with weaker but still strong demand for the 5.5 inch. Either way I’m waiting for that 5.5 inch.

    • Tony

Really really hoping that’s the case! At first I didn’t want the 5.5 but if this is my last iPhone for at least 2 cycles I want the biggest one I can get. Hoping for 32gb standard as well, none of this 16gb nonsense.

      • Adam

I’m giving up on that. I’m betting they keep the status quo stay with the base model at 16gb and keep charging us a $100 premium for each level of storage upgrades. Not to mention we continue to get the short end of the stick when it comes to iCloud storage space.

      • Rowan09

iCloud storage is significantly better with IOS 8 giving more data for a cheaper price.

      • Adam

Depends on how you view it. The base storage hasn’t improved at all. You’re still getting 5gb of storage which makes little sense when your lowest level of physical storage for the average user is a 16gb model in any device. I know the 8gb exists in some products but it is far less common. So for most people your starting with a 16gb device and you get about a third of that in cloud storage. Lets says you have multiple apple devices it gets even worse because they aren’t throwing you an additional 5gb for each device. So for me the storage options are better but not significantly better.

      • Rowan09

You’re talking about free storage which I don’t expect anything free, but I’m speaking about the paid options. I believe the lowest will change to 200GB and I forgot the price, but it’s way better than what they offer now.

  • Lordrootman

This will mess up my day I always wish to see 5.5″ and 4.7″ launch on the same date so we can decide which one to go with

  • Rowan09

Not a fan of huge phones but I would like to see the 5.5 before purchasing the 4.7. I hope they give us a preview of what’s to come if they aren’t released the same time.

  • Michael Perry

if the 5.5″ phone takes longer because they had to make it more perfect. than I’m fine with that. you can’t rush apple. because that’s what happened with iOS 7 release

  • Dan

These rumors keep confirming and contracting themselves almost every day of the week. Zero credibility. Just wait for the phone to come out people.

  • 🙁 sad face

  • Eddie Hines

This is why i broken down and got an LG G3

  • ClaudieX X

I prefer to keep my iphone 5s and a new future ipad mini. Since I got my ipad mini, I use the phone only for talking, texting and seek urgent things on the Internet

  • James Gunaca

Every other week it’s the same thing. 5.5in is delayed! 5.5in will be released alongside 4.7in. 5.5in is delayed!

I swear. It’s just page view fodder around the Internet. Enough! Get here, September.

  • chris125

So last week it was launching same time as 4.7″ and now this week it changed again. Go figure and next week it will be back to launching “on time”

  • thomas

I seriously doubt they won’t announce the iPhone 6 and iwatch together. they’re like made for each other
