Pangu 1.1

The highly anticipated Pangu 1.1 update was just today released for both Windows and Mac users. Obviously, the big news here was Mac compatibility, as Mac users were left without a usable version after the initial Windows-only version of Pangu 1.1 was released.

But Windows users should be happy too, as version 1.1 of Pangu brings with it English text that makes it easier to follow along in the jailbreak process. The update also gets rid of the nefarious checkbox that allowed pirated software to be easily installed on your device.

Pangu 1.1 is a streamlined version of the original tool. If you’ve been on the fence about using it, then perhaps this latest update will ease your concerns. Check inside to view our step-by-step jailbreak tutorial for Pangu 1.1 on Windows.

How to jailbreak iOS 7.1.x with Pangu 1.1 for Windows

Step 1: Download Pangu 1.1 for Windows from our downloads page

Step 2: Plug your iOS 7.1.x device in to your computer’s USB port

Step 3: Open Pangu_v1.1.exe on your Windows machine. You may see a blue error box. If so, click more info and click Run Anyway (see video tutorial for more information). The Pangu app should open.

Step 4: Once your device is detected by the app, click the Start Jailbreak button

Step 5: Pangu will ask you to go to Settings > General > Date & Time and disable the Set Automatically toggle. You will then need to set the date to June 2, 2014

Step 6: Once the date is set, the jailbreak process will begin automatically. After a little while, Pangu will ask you to open the Pangu app icon on the Home screen of your iOS device. Tap the Pangu icon to launch the Pangu app and tap the Continue button

Step 7: The jailbreak will continue process. You will be asked to unlock your device after it reboots

Step 8: Once the jailbreak is completed, you should see Cydia on your Home screen

You now have an untethered jailbreak on iOS 7.1.x using Pangu v 1.1 on your Windows machine.

Be sure to follow our video tutorial above for complete step-by-step instructions that walk you through the entire process from beginning to end.

We also have a Pangu for Mac OS X jailbreak tutorial

Have you used Pangu 1.1 yet? What do you think about the changes?

  • coLin

    Thank you Jeff

  • RayRayBeav

Thank you Jeff, although I am running iOS 8 Beta 2, found this very easy to follow along with and now with Mac compatibility, it’s even better.

Can I ask though, do you know why we need to change the date to June 2nd?

    • firerock

because pangu team using expired certificate. you can look on iDB post last week I guess

      • RayRayBeav

Thanks firerock! I appreciate the answer, although I know it really doesn’t matter too much, was just curious.

      • firerock

Yeah I myself didn’t know much (still learning though)
but I’m pretty sure that this method do no harm to your devices.

        Btw you’re welcom 😛

      • Mason

Why is my computer saying dump catches failed

    • Micky Ganon

It does not matter, because once you do reboot. The date and time is updated automatically.

    • Jonathan

      Keep an eye on this.

    • sriram varadarajulu

wait this worked for you on iOS 8 beta ? :O

      • RayRayBeav

No, I did not get this to work on iOS 8 Beta… I was just saying that it’s very easy to use for iOS 7…

  • ScHeeR

    THANK YOU

  • Mr.Coolfreak

Still doesn’t fix the loop boot issue, one time it didn’t boot loop but the cydia icon wasn’t there( reboot didn’t help) but I have tried everything and still after it shows welcome to pangu it loops infinitely

    • Corey Wisner-Priv

Did you try updating to 7.1.2?

  • Tony

What should I do if I’ve already jailbroked with Pangu 1.0?

    • DEEPANGEORGE

LOL just leave it as it is…… No need to jailbreak an already jailbroken device

      • GL_R

        thanks

    • mike

Unless you’re having problems with stability, keep your jailbreak. No reason to restore and rejailbreak.

      • Tony

So it’s not offering some kind of bug fixes? Actually it was working smooth until today I noticed the loading icon in the status bar shows up to much and drains the battery..

      • mike

The only thing it changes is
        A) OS X support
        B) Updated for English, also removes PPSync
        C) replaces the i0nic’s exploit with one of their own

Tl;dr no code changes were made that impact the end user

      • Tony

        Thanks dude !

      • tlminhkhoa

Thank Mike. It is necessary to remove PPSync because PPsync in Pangu 1.0 is bulky.

      • Arjan Vlek

        What, they wasted ANOTHER exploit?????

      • mike

From my understanding, the exploit that replaced i0n1c’s was one that cannot be in the betas of iOS 8, such as the expired certificate bug.

    • DEEPANGEORGE

BTW just now iOS 7.1.2 is out so need to restore and jailbreak again as its jailbreakable….

      • Tony

I think I’ll have to wait a week and then I will update to 7.1.2 and then jailbreak. Hopefully the Pangu team will release a update that is more compatible with 7.1.2
        /Tony

      • DEEPANGEORGE

hmm you are right waiting is wise to jailbreak with a stable jailbreak official release of new pangu version also there is not much important improvement in 7.1.2… so waiting is the good idea

  • mike

You guys should really mention that the Pangu app appears on the /last page/ of your homescreen. I tried jailbreaking my iPad yesterday and the process kept timing out, without the app ever appearing.
If you only have one page of apps, (like most freshly restored devices), you’ll need to move an app to the second page so the Pangu app can be accessed. Otherwise the process will stop halfway through and timeout.

  • Jarrod Hogue

Cydia is not showing up on my phone….can somebody please help me?

    • Chris Wagers

didn’t show up on mine either.

  • Polo

This might sound stupid but, i hate the iOS 7.1.1 keyboard and the letters are too bold for my liking compared to the ios 7.0.6, is there anyway of getting the ios 7.0.6 keyboard back?

    • kommentelgeto

I think you should turn the bold font off. Go to Settings => General => Accessibility to do that. In iOS 7 the bold font is also applied to the keyboard.

  • rockdude094

Should I update my iphone 5s to 7.1.x?

    • Niclas

    • Bugs Bunnay

      • rockdude094

  • Chris Kringle

How do I download free apps after I JB?

    • Arjan Vlek

      Not. Buy them

    • Dan

you won’t get any advice here pirate

      • dan

some people would like to test the app before they buy it to see if its worth the money or not !

      • Dan

most people don’t, hence why there is no tutorial how to pirate apps on IDB

  • Rahimo

Thanx Jeff , but I got a problem with cydia after jb , it won’t let me download any tweak !! And it writes this error : “Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (2)” please help

    • Stevealot

I’m experiencing this same problem as well.
      Can not install cydia packages.

Jeff, I’m holding you personally responsible!
Also, my Windows Xp has been acting funny lately.

      • Rahimo

Take my advice man !! I re-restored my iPad 3 at the same firmware 7.1.1, and jailbreaked it using Pangu 1.1 , and every thing is fine, the problem was gone, and I’m enjoying it now! Go ahead and do what I did !!

      • Stevealot

I went ahead and upgraded to 7.1.2 and re jailbroke with pangu 1.1 and it worked great!
and now I can continue my love affair with my ipad!

      • Rahimo

        Good for you

    • a2cntryboy

      Got the same problem here.

  • Mark Alvin Castillo

thank you for this it worked on my iphone4

  • h4nd0fg0d

I’ll stay clear of this. My 5s is running silky smooth on 7.0.6 JB. No battery or crash issues. Just gonna stay put. Most comments here are indicative of some buggyness.

    • Niclas

7.0 vs 7.1 is night and day. Do whatever you want but be informed.

  • TonyC

I have to wonder about the necessity of doing a JB on 7.1. I am on 7.0.4 (JB) and it seems to be doing fine. I plan on completely cleaning house with 8.0 and doing a new JB and Cydia reload at that time. Is there really anything in 7.1 that I couldn’t/shouldn’t live without until then?

    • Dan

it’s smoother (from what I’ve noticed) and is more secure (so I’ve heard), since we might have to wait a while for the 8.0 jailbreak I went ahead and got it.

  • Ninos E Dinkha

after i jailbroke the pangu app was still on my device along with cydia! help please!

    • hadi

      Perhaps you’ve done sth. wrong
Do it all again . must work !

  • Amy

I am completely new to jailbreaking and would really appreciate some help. (Please don’t laugh if this is a stupid question haha) I am aware that some tweeks are not compatible with ios7.1.x but how can I tell which ones are safe for my phone? I installed one and it corrupted and caused problems with cydia so my boyfriend had to sort it for me on his computer. I have seen the list on idownloadblog which is very helpful but how can I be sure that a tweek is compatible? If the description says ‘compatible with ios 7’ does this mean that I can use it? Thank you!

    • Niclas

If it says “compatible with ios 7” it does not mean 7.1 compatible.
Don’t install anything not tested to be compatible with 7.1 specifically.

  • Levani

it says : “injecting bundles, please wait” but i think it stuck on this step please anyone help meee :(((

    • Al Gomez

      the same problem also

    • hadi

And be sure not to have a passcode on your device

      • Levani

its not working my iphone is not activated its locked on at&t network and i think thats why its not working it needs to activate by at&t sim

  • GL_R

Do i need to Jailbreak my phone again using this update? Or is it okay to skip this, since i already installed the 1 version of Pangu?

  • Corey Wisner-Priv

You’re right, it is really straight-forward. I would much rather jailbreak with evasi0n, but I’ll take what I can get

  • Bruda

Mines says Please make sure you have a proper internet connection and I do… so…

  • Al Gomez

block on injecting budles please wait, someone to help me plz

    • hadi

  • Sean Cua

  • ♡✨Chīnεsε [♍]✨♡

if i already installed iOS 7.1.2 on my iPhone, can it still be jailbroken?

    • DEEPANGEORGE

Yes it can be jailbroked if the firmware is updated by iTunes and not OTA and the same pangu v1 is enough to jailbreak it

  • Preetika Priya Dass

mine says loading resources please wait … what now?? please help

Can someone please tell me how to get rid of Pangu and restore my iPhone ? I have tried all of the usual methods including Recovery Mode , DFU Mode , editing the ‘Hosts file’ in Windows 7 , closing security software and wiping the dns cache. I’m not impressed with the jailbreak apps etc , I want to go back to standard iOS but continually get the 3014 and 3194 error messages.

  • larry pfaff

So I bricked my phone trying to add some cydia tweaks and had to wipe it and start over. not happy with that. today I see the 7.1.1 jailbreak works for the 7.1.2. I tried it. I didn’t receive any errors, but no cydia installed. tried some research but nothing different out there. I followed the video directions, which had you running the pangu app as admin. now when it ran through, still no errors but pangu was still installed. I continued running the app several times and pangu not removed and cydia no where to be found. finally I deleted pangu and ran it again. Bam, I got new messages, pangu removed and cydia installed.
    thanks and good luck

    • Jonathan

  • Non-Specific Action Figure

What if you do the date-trick before you start?

    Will it still work then?

If not, I suppose it’s easy enough to switch back. I’m just lazy like that.

  • Chris

I tried jailbreaking for first the time on my 4S with Pangu 1.1.X and having ios 7.1.1 and then again with 7.1.2 on my phone. Both times after running Pangu as Administrator on my phone I had a constant loop of the boot screen showing the Pangu logo and then from the top down it wiped the logo clear and restarted the phone and continued the loop of booting over and over never stoping. I had to recover my iphone through itunes both times.

Has anybody else had this issue and if so what do I need to do to jailbreak my phone? What am I doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone for the help.
