While the App Store was a little quiet to start this week, things are starting to heat up again. Facebook has made its Snapchat competitor Slingshot available for international users, expanding beyond the initial launch in the United States last week. Slingshot is an app for sharing photos and videos that disappear with friends, although you must send something back to the other person before you can see anything. Slingshot is free on the App Store for iPhone.
While it launched on the App Store almost a week ago, SBK14 is a hidden gem worth mentioning. This motorcycle racer is the official racing game of the 2014 Superbike World Championship, featuring console-quality graphics, 27 life-like riders competing for their countries, 16 racing teams, 9 control sets and more. SBK14 is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
The Rhythm of Fighters is a new rhythmical fighting game that features several fan-favorite tracks from many of SNK’s traditional game series like The King of Fighters and Samurai Shodown. Unleash your favorite special moves and combos following a frenzied rhythm to earn the highest score possible. Rhythm of Fighters is 99 cents on the App Store for iPhone.
The award-winning game Plants vs. Zombies 2, released last August, was updated yesterday with part one of the Dark Ages expansion. There is also a new rare gem called the Rock-It Blast, which arrives just in time for Independence Day, and performance enhancements. The app is now at version 2.4.1. Plants vs. Zombies 2 is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
Listen to a non-stop party mix, curated by the world’s largest community of DJs, with Crossfader for iPhone. The app was updated to version 4.0 recently with a built-in Crossfader Radio feature for listening to crosses in a seamless mix. The radio features three channels: Top, Fresh and Featured. Crossfader is free on the App Store for iPhone.
The cloud storage app Google Drive for iOS was updated this morning with a new incoming view for seeing files that have been shared with you as they arrive, an activity stream for viewing changes to files and folders made by you and others, the ability for anyone with a link to comment, edit or view files and folders and more. Google Drive is free for iPhone and iPad.
If there is going to be an update for one cloud storage app, there might as well be another. Microsoft has updated its OneDrive app, formerly known as SkyDrive, with improvements to camera backup, integration with Office apps on iPad and bug fixes and performance improvements. The app is now at version 4.2 OneDrive is free on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.
For those wanting to live a healthier and more active lifestyle, look no further than Fitbit. The app was recently updated to version 2.3 with the ability to add a photo to your Fitbit profile, track run stats in real time, track food faster, track exercise easier and more. MobileTrack can now sync in the background. Fitbit is free on the App Store for iPhone.

Dark Lands is an endless platformer game in which you run through enemies and dangerous traps. Developer your hero to survive an infinity battle and run as long as possible. The game is a mix of an infinity runner fantasy horror game with a dynamic combat system. Dark Lands is free for a limited time on the App Store, down from $2.99, for iPhone and iPad.
True Skate is an authentic skateboarding simulation game that TouchArcade says will be discounted from $1.99 to free, although not until later tonight or tomorrow. The game features realistic touch-based physics, allowing you to flick your board and drag your finger on the ground to push forward. True Skate is a universal app for iPhone and iPad on the App Store.
