iphone 6 5-5 lcd

New evidence of the larger iPhone 6 surfaced online this morning. 9to5Mac has posted a pair of images believed to be a display component for Apple’s oft-rumored 5.5-inch smartphone—one of two handsets the company is believed to be launching this fall.

While we’ve seen plenty of case and part leaks for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6, physical evidence of the larger model has been far more scarce. These photos, in fact, are said to be the first showing an iPhone 6 component that matches the 5.5-inch device rumors…

9to5Mac explains the implications of the photos:

Today, Sonny Dickson has exclusively shared with us a pair of photos claimed to be showing the LCD display component for that larger iPhone with 5.5-inch screen. The photos show the display attached to a ruler that indicates a screen with a diagonal measurement of approximately 14cm.

That 14cm converts to the 5.5-inches heavily rumored for the next-generation Apple smartphone. While these photos do not provide us with any breakthrough information about the new iPhone, the photos, at best, do show that Apple is already producing components for the larger sized phone and this means that production is likely nearing.

For reference, here are 5.5 and 4.7-inch iPhone 6 mockups:

In addition to larger displays, both iPhone 6 models will get refreshed shells with rounded corners, a new antenna design, and a thinner profile. The parts we’ve seen thus far have also pointed to elongated volume buttons and a relocated sleep/wake button.

As far as internals, the new iPhone is expected to sport an improved camera, a faster A8 processor and various other performance bumps. Code in early iOS 8 betas have also indicated that the handset will feature multiple new sensors, including a barometer.

We’re looking for the iPhone 6 to launch sometime in September, though it’s been rumored that the 5.5-inch version may be delayed a few months due to production issues. It’s also been speculated that Apple will charge a $100 premium for the larger model.

why is it in a car and not a factory?

    • Ваше Онтатиле Масвибилили

      i think it was stolen

      • Kelvin Lieu

idk the guys car looks pretty high end. i don’t think a rich guy would work in one of those companies LOL

      • @dongiuj

        Factory owner?

      • highNiggaPie

It’s an Infiniti so it probably is a worker

      • mlee19841

looks like a older infinity or bmw from the cup holders.

      • Probably one of these fanboys who would pay a worker to leak such stuff.

      • Brian Brown

        Lol. Wild

    No, it’s really happening

The 4.7″ mockup doesn’t look too bad IMO. The 5.5″ looks way too big but I’d be more than happy with a 4.7″ iPhone 6…

    Sonny Dick-son.

  • Trix

How much trouble can you get in if you’re caught leaking this stuff?

    • @dongiuj

Apple most probably want/need these leaks. It helps keep as many customers from buying different devices. Apple probably encourages it.

      • daftcinema

I wouldn’t say encourages it, but it’s not like they are out to get these guys for leaking. It allows for people to continue to have interest in their product.

  • Anthony Antunez

Or it could just be a 5.5 inch display, you know, for the other phones that already have one? Just because the guy says it’s for an iPhone doesn’t mean it’s happening yet people.

    • Antzboogie

Not really I love the leaks keeps me guessing and stops me from buying the s5 which is to late 😉 I’ll be back for the iPhone 6 for sure!!

  • Alain

Great Screen. Ugly Back. I really hope these are not real 🙁

    • John

It’s only the screen part, not the whole phone, you wouldn’t see the back in the finished product.

      • Alain

I know. But iDB posted leaked photos of the iPhone 6 screen and back. You may have missed them.

5.5″ iPhone wont work. I mean, it’s too big. If we gonna make it 5.5″ the we better (the following message may be shocking to fanboys) put in some of the amazing Note 3 features. Like the S-pen. And don’t say it isn’t usefull, because I actually use it, so I have some experiance.

    • Kurt

And split screen multitasking, an IR blaster, and 4K video! I think the 5.5″ won’t be as good as the Note 4, but 4.7″ iPhone could be best in its class. Hope these phones will get OIS

      • daftcinema

Man, if iPhone had 4K video! I was hoping someone would bring up the s-pen. That thing is awesome. Lol, it’s great for snapchat, and just general use.

      • Kurt

4K video is needed because (on all mobile devices) 1080p uses 1 pixel of information 4 times. So for every 1 pixel, 3 others are using the same info. So when you have 4K it does the same. But when you down sample it to 1080p, all pixels have it’s own information. So it’s far sharper and the only way to get the sharpness of 1080p video from a mobile phone/tablet. Also, panning in post production is great! Very nice to have. I’m very happy with it and hope iPhone also steps up its game and gets it.
