May 11 is the Mother’s Day holiday here in the United States so MacPhun, a San Diego, California developer which makes fine photography software for digital artists of all skill levels, is conveniently running a massive Mom’s Day promotion that offers notable discounts on its many Mac photography apps. These apps usually don’t come cheap but starting today and through next Monday, May 12, you can download them on the Mac App Store and save up to 40 percent on their regular prices.
I’ve included download links and a short description of each app right below…
The following Mac apps by Macphun are now on sale:
Focus 2 focuses (pun intended) on adding selective focus and tilt-shift effects to your photos to create depth-of-field effects, without having to use expensive camera lenses.
There are five different aperture settings to choose from, each fine-tuned for specific types of photography, adjustable blur effects, professional presets for Portrait, Nature, Architecture, Macro and Tilt-Shift and more.
The app even features face recognition in the portrait mode and supports gestures to rotate, pinch, zoom, move and adjust your blur strength.
And thanks to Macphun’s partnership with MILK Tailor Made Books, Focus 2 includes a built-in Order Prints option to turn your images into fine-quality postcards, folded notecards, framed gallery prints or wrapped canvas prints. Normally costing $9.99, Focus 2 is now available for $6.99.

Featuring a comprehensive set of professional presets and an rich set of detail enhancement tools, Intensify – as the name suggests – helps make your photos stand out from the crowd.
Intensify is no toy: the app has 16-bit image processing with RAW format support, can open layered Photoshop files, includes powerful layering and masking tools and contains presets developed by pro photographers.
It lets you create vignettes with Luminosity control and the ability to place the center point, change filter behavior with additional options (for example, Micro Sharpness has a Dehalo feature, Structure has a Softness option and so forth) and more.
Intensify recently earned Best of 2013 honors from Apple and has been consistently in the top 5 of the crowded photography category on the Mac App Store. Macphun has discounted Intensify deeply, going from the usual $24.99 all the way down to $17.99.
FX Photo Studio Pro
I reviewed this app for my previous employer back when it debuted in 2011 and came away pretty impressed. Packed to the gills with powerful photo editing tools, various filters, frames, borders, effects and what not, FX Photo Studio Pro will take your photos to the next level.
You also get over 170 photo effects and filters that can be layered to create your own styles, pro-grade masking with effects and the color splash tool, integration with Aperture, Lightroom, iPhoto and Photoshop and lots more. It normally costs $19.99, but is now available for $14.99.
A less powerful FX Photo Studio is available for $6.99.
The iPhone edition is available free and FX Photo Studio HD for iPad is $2.99.
If you need an image healing software, look no further than Snapheal. You can use it to make advanced touch ups, fix skin blemishes, remove unwanted objects and people from your photos – even restore scanned photos and make other imperfections vanish instantly.
The app is focused on ease of use so you don’t need pro photography skills to use it. It also offers plug-ins and supports Adobe Photoshop Creative Cloud, CS5 and CS6. Normally retailing for $19.99, Snapheal is now available discounted to $14.99. How’s this for an inexpensive alternative to Photoshop?
This app for creative color editing allows you to create images with selective colors, draw with new colors, selectively enhance background or foreground, add creative blur, special effects, vignette and more.
You just pick a part of the image to leave in color and the rest of the photo gets turned into a monochrome snap. It integrates with iPhoto and Aperture, so you can easily export pics to your libraries, supports iCloud and more.
The app’s been downloaded over a million times and is now 40 percent off, going from its regular price of $2.99 down to just 99 cents.
This nifty little app can help you re-discover forgotten photos memories locked away in years of email. Lost Photos does this by cleverly scanning your email to surface every photo ever sent or received. You can then export discovered images to a Mac folder, iPhoto or share via Facebook, Twitter or email.
It supports all popular IMAP accounts, including Gmail, Hotmail, Yahoo, iCloud and more. The free version will discover up to a hundred images, with an optional one-time $2.99 In-App Purchase unlocking the ability to find an unlimited number of photos from multiple email accounts.
Download Lost Photos for free.
Fun fact: there are approximately 144.8 billion emails are sent and received every day across the globe. Again, these deals are only good through May 12, 2014 so act fast before the apps return to their regular prices.
