App Store on iPhone

The start of the week marks the return of App Recap, a daily column that promotes new, updated and discounted apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. This roundup serves as an extension of the comprehensive app coverage that Lory, Christian, Cody and other writers provide during the daytime, highlighting everything from updates to popular apps to hidden gems on the App Store. Read ahead for a look at today’s selection of apps…

New Apps

VoiceSnap app

VoiceSnap allows you to take photos using simple voice commands, solving the problems of not being included in a group photo or having to run back and forth between your device and the location you’re taking a picture. You can also control the app remotely with another iOS device or Bluetooth accessories.

The app has a beautiful design and a number of other options that can be configured, including adding a grid to your photos and adding a timed delay to the voice commands. VoiceSnap, developed by Derek Maurer and designed by Cristopher Cobble and Joshua Tucker, is $1.99 on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

PureContact App Store iconPureContact makes it easy to connect with your contacts across several different platforms. Using swiping or double tapping gestures, you can get in touch with your contacts by text, call, email, instant message on WhatsApp and more. The app is fully customizable and includes a number of colorful themes to choose from. PureContact is 99 cents on the App Store for iPhone.

The Flapply TortugaJust in case you needed another Flappy Bird knockoff to keep you entertained, The Flapply Tortuga has arrived right on cue. The app has the same objective as the original Flappy Bird, that being to navigate a tortuga while avoiding obstacles. There are dozens of alternatives available for free, but The Flappy Tortuga is 99 cents on the App Store for iPhone and iPad if you so really want it.

Mutated Sea appMutated Sea appears to be an exciting new action-arcade game based on a sea full of angry sharks and mutant fish. Collect up to six medals as you feed seagulls, spear sharks and shoot fish with a minimalistic, retro feel. Mutated Sea is 99 cents on the App Store for iPhone and iPad. I haven’t given this game a spin yet, so I can’t guarantee it is a quality app, but let us know how it plays if you decide to fork over a dollar for it.

Updated Apps

The Amazing Spider Man 2 iconThe Amazing Spider-Man 2 was updated over the weekend to resolve an issue where the game would stall at 45 percent while loading. Gameloft recommends users be patient, as the game may still hang on 45% for a few seconds. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is an open-world adventure game based on the movie of the same name, requiring you to save New York from city-wide gang war and more. The game is $4.99 on the App Store.

Apps On Sale

Minigore app icon

Minigore is free for a limited time as game studio Mountain Sheep celebrates two million downloads of its new slicing game KingHunt. Minigore is a classic iPhone arcade shooter that debuted nearly four years ago, in which you must help John Gore avoid his enemies in the dark wilderness of Hardland. The sale has been on since the start of the weekend, so grab Minigore while it’s free before it returns to 99 cents.

Live Cams Pro icon

Live Cams Pro is a multi IP camera viewer app that has just been discounted from $5.99 to $3.99 on the App Store. The app, which has over two million users, provides H.264 video and two-way audio, hardware motion detection, audio and video recording, multiple viewing modes, audio histograms and more for most or all Foscam camera models. Hundreds of other popular camera brands are also supported. Live Cams Pro, the top-rated webcam and live surveillance app, is now $3.99 on the App Store for iPhone and iPad.

Blek app iconBlek is another app that was discounted over the weekend, from its regular $2.99 price tag to just 99 cents. Blek is a very interesting gesture-based game where you draw a line that then moves by itself, with the aim of collecting all colored circles and avoiding black holes. With multiple solutions of varying difficulty for each level, the game promises unique and long-lasting gameplay for both iPhone and iPad users. I recommend watching the official video for the app to gain a better understanding of how it works. Blek is 99 cents on the App Store for a limited time, so take advantage of the sale while it lasts.

DataMan Next app

DataMan Next is free today as part of an AppGratis promotion, discounted from its regular $1.99 price tag. The app helps prevent overage charges through real-time tracking of data usage on the iPhone, with a clean design and advanced data usage forecasts. Choose from weekly, monthly or any 30-day plans and four custom alert thresholds. DataMan Next is free on May 5th only, so get downloading on the App Store now.

As always, we will be sure to update this post through the day if need be.

I am still getting the 45% error everytime I try to play Spider-Man… Gameloft says if you get the first time it should get right for the next times, but nothing. I just keep it because this game is a joy when it works.
