On par with the launch of any device from Apple, third-party case makers have taken rumors, maybe a little insider knowledge, and some guessing to theorize what the design of the next-generation iPhone could be, long before the launch.

YouTube channel Unbox Therapy got its hands on one of these cases floating around, and compared it alongside the iPhone 5s and iPod touch. The striking factor for the purported iPhone 6 case wasn’t the height difference, but that its thinness matched up with the iPod touch, perfectly.Β

Past the 6mm thinness, the purported iPhone 6 case shows a button design similar to the iPod touch, ditching the volume buttons first introduced on the iPhone 4. This move would be Apple matching the design to other devices in its line-up, including the iPad Air and iPad mini.

In related news, a posting on the MacRumors forum on Monday showed a possible volume button for the iPhone 6 that uses a flatter design compared to the iPhone 5s.

Is this a legitimate case? There’s really no telling, but it’s always fun to theorize.

You need a space between “gen” and “iPhone” πŸ˜›
Guess someone was in a hurry. xD

    • Jake Smith

      thanks, i was πŸ˜›

      • Jonathan

        lol no problem. =)

  • Maximβˆ‘

I was thinking of waiting for the 6S but I dont think thats going to happen lol…

  • Laszlo Gaspar

    The thinner the better

    • Jonathan

      How’s this?

    • Osama Muhammed

      thats….. not what she said

      • DevXav

        Perfect. lol

  • Totally dig the thinness, battery should be fine if we finally get igzo panel and/or new sapphire glass along with new A8 chip

    • Maximβˆ‘

Yeah, and the battery is pretty thin on the 5S, so Apple “just” can use the extra surface area to increase battery life. Internally it will probably look more like an iPad with most of it just being battery

    I’m so hard rite now!!!

  • Likii111

I would be more happy with bigger battery than with thinner Device

    • gittlopctbi

      Yep. +1

    • Umut BilgiΓ§

Dont forget that they are able to reach that thinnes by making the phone bigger (thus larger battery)

      • Likii111

Maybe thay can make same battery capacity in thinner device but what about bigger screen that will consume more power?

  • Guest

Oh no. The lock button is on the side. Why APPLE!? We’ve learnt all these years that the lock button is always on the top. Why must you change that? I have the HTC One m8 and the lock button annoys the hell out of me.

    • jack

you talk like if this rumor is the truth. relax

    • smtp25

I have S5 and always knock the lock button on the side, “your holding it wrong”. Keep it on top

    • Antonakis Kipouros Nikopolidis

People with smaller hands will not be able to use the phone with one hand, if they increase the size of the screen. I think this is the reason for the side button.

    • mahe

I remember how I complained about the button on my first iPhone and that it would be better located on the side …

Now I’m used to it and they change it …

      lol xD

  • jack

they’ll need new materials to overcome structural problems that’ll arise if they reduce the phone’s thickness

I think a lot of these leaks are completely plausible. When the iPhone 5 leaks came out two years ago, a lot of them turned out to be completely true; we all actually saw the exact design of the i5, detailed on our very own iDB, months before Apple unveiled it. That fact, coupled with an obvious move to make the device thinner (something Apple has continually done in its iPhone evolution), makes me easily buy into this new purported i6 design.

  • Jamessmooth

I like the iPad Air “look” myself. 4 years of the same style phone, time for a change. However, I keep my phone in my back pocket and if it IS supposed to be that thin, I will worry about it’s safety!

  • chris125

What is this craze with every new iPhone has to be thinner than the next? Can we get a battery that actually lasts all day for a change? Battery life>>>> thinness.

  • Vijay Panjwani

The people here saying they need better battery life should think for a minute about the iPad Air. Having even a smaller battery, it retains the excellent battery life of its older brother.
I think the main work here will be at chip level. Apple also knows that its customers need an extended battery life (as per the leaked docs), so, its not that dumb to reduce the current battery life!
And the bigger size=more room=slightly bigger battery.
I bet, its gonna be improved by 1-2 hour.

  • gittlopctbi

When it gets too thin, it gets too impractical. Current thickness is just fine by me. I would rather we have longer battery life. Of course, if it happens with a thinner body, so be it. But really, how much thinner does it really have to be?

  • felixtaf

So, there will be a camera bump…. (I hate that!!!). Except thinness, I like the design.

  • blastingbigairs

Great article. Can’t wait for a larger screen, absolutely elated.

  • Girish

i charge my 5s once everyday,,,,
its actualy enough for me to get through the day,,,
so for me design matters more than battery life πŸ™‚

  • Nicolas Cage

Maybe this is the case of the new iPod Touch
