A&E and History Channel apps updated with live TV streaming

A little over a year ago, A&E Networks updated its iOS clients with on-demand programming. It was a fairly big move, as it allowed users to watch their favorite episodes of TV shows like Duck Dynasty and Storage Wars while on the go.

Today, A&E issued another major update for its mobile clients, this time adding live TV streaming to both A&E and History Channel iOS apps. So now you can watch live programming from each of the channels on your iPhone or iPad…

Here are your release notes for version 2.0:

•Watch full episodes and clips of your favorite HISTORY series including Pawn Stars, Vikings, American Pickers, Swamp People and many more.
•Create a customized Watchlist of your favorite shows.
•See exclusive clips from HISTORY shows, never before shown on television

Now you can watch LIVE TV on your iPhone or iPad! Sign in with your TV provider and watch a live stream of HISTORY…anywhere, anytime!

As with most television network apps, there are a few caveats. For starters, most of A&E’s content is only available for streaming in the US. And even if you do live stateside, you’ll still need to be a paid TV subscriber to access live streaming.

Still, if you’re a fan of the programming on either of these two channels, I recommend grabbing the apps. You can find both A&E and History Channel in the App Store for free. The Lifetime app was also updated today, but it does not mention live-streaming.
