Polus

Polus—the brand new Control Center QuickLaunch tweak for iOS 7—is available right now on Cydia to download. The tweak, which we covered extensively a few weeks ago, allows you to customize various aspects of the QuickLaunch shortcuts appearing in Control Center, including the amount of shortcuts, size, and shape.

You can even assign Activator actions to each QuickLaunch shortcut, including a single tap and a tap-and-hold gesture. This allows you to do interesting things like assign a tap-and-hold gesture to the Twitter app shortcut in order to launch the compose-new-Tweet sheet. When it comes to Polus your only limit is your imagination. Step inside to review our full video walkthrough of the tweak in action.

Polus is available for download on Cydia for a reasonable $0.99. I went ahead and purchased it myself to see if anything major had changed with the final build, but from what I can tell thus far, it looks very similar to the version I walked through on video above.

But it’s not like the tweak needed any additional features to warrant a purchase. Along with the ability to add custom Activator actions, you can add up to six QuickLaunch shortcuts and select from over 300 glyph icons to represent the apps you select. Even better is the fact that additional glyph packs will be available for download to expand the visual app representation.

If you’re looking to get more out of Control Center, then Polus is a tweak that you should consider trying. Be sure to let me know what you think about the release down in the comment section below.

CCToggles does quite the same thing, with also toggles and free..

    • Matthew Cleveland

A3 Tweaks developing a tweak that’s already been done then charging for it?! Unheard of!

      • Diego Milano

Not only that, but it’s also really buggy. The tap and hold functionality doesn’t work very well with a mix of settings such as custom “glyphs” and also when no activator action is chosen but no activator action is selected; I also found that the amount if icons displayed gets reset every time you add a a new app to the list.
To me, this looks like a (late) beta or nightly build in my opinion. But this is exactly what happened with Auxo so I’m hoping all these issues get cleared soon- yet I have to mention that, when it comes to the reputation of A3tweaks, I think QA is a weak point. Either they add more beta testers or a better QA process.

      • Matthew Cleveland

I remember how buggy Auxo was when it came out and how long it took them to finally get it to not crash. That’s a good reason for me to stay away from their tweaks.

      • Diego Milano

I never really found Auxo appealing on iPhone anyway. Way overrated. Design is not just good looks but also usability and having those tiny little icons and a small snapshot (sometimes blank) was definitely a fail in design adding no benefit to the usability of the device.
Like I said, I’m just waiting for Apex. It’s innovative and -at least- not a ripoff. 🙂

      • DeAndre Enrico

QuickActivator does what Polus does and it does it very well. I’ve been using it for awhile now. If you want a less buggy solution, check it out.

      • Diego Milano

Honestly, I think their most innovative release has been Apex. I am certainly not impressed and actually very concerned about the instability A3tweaks can bring into the game when it comes to “breaking” your iOS to the point you need to either uninstall the tweak or restore as a whole.

    • DeAndre Enrico

CCToggles still isn’t as good as QuickActivator IMO, which does do almost exactly the same thing as this Polus.

      • a3yu

maybe, but i don’t use activator..i totally hate it.
        CCToggles is simplier 🙂

  • TWITTER IS DOWN D:

  • Chun-Li aka ThunderThighs

    *cough* CCToggles

    • DeAndre Enrico

      QuickActivator is better IMO.

  • J. Rockwell

*cough* QuickActivator – and you can add your own icons!

    • Ken

um this video just explain that it has the same exact actions you mentioned lol

      • J. Rockwell

Lol – kind of my point, this tweak has been out for 2 months.

    • TiLT

…for what did u need cctoggles when u use quickactivator?

  • Mike M. Powell

    CCToggles all day baby :3

    • Jomar 

Plus CCIcons to give some nice icons 🙂

  • KariNeko

CCToggles here too, does toggles plus quick launch and it’s FREE.

    • Jomar 

Adding CCicons…. is the same + free

      • mav3rick

        What Repo for CCIcons?

      • Johann Medina

ModMy bro is a theme for winterboard.

      • Johann Medina

do you really like it no? hehe btw how you set it to CCToggles?

      • Jomar 

CCIcons is not a Winterboard theme. ModMyi put it like a theme in there repo. You add apps to your QuickLaunch section on CCToggles and if CCIcons have a icon for that app, it would applied to it on QuickLaunch section.

  • David Buenrostro

Everyone here loving on other tweaks, here’s some love for Polus; the icons are all nicely designed and fit perfectly into control center and with each other. All other Control Center tweaks with quick launch icons are horribly ugly and incomplete or worse, they just use the actual icon@2x. Functionality and uniformity should always go together on iOS.

    • Mike M. Powell

      Expect CCToggles :D!

    • Jomar 

Polus uses the same icon@2x method. I already check. You can trie CCToggles + CCIcons = Free.

  • Jomar 

Polus does the same as CCToggles and adding CCIcons to it… and its free. 🙂 #JustSaying

  • Diego Milano

There are some noticeable bugs and I was expecting way more features since they’ve been pushing the release back for more than three months.

I think people buy for the eye-candy, but I’m not sure what’s the point in releasing three or more variants of the same tweak and just put a different name on it.

I’m sorry, but the more I read and experience, the more I believe that A3tweaks is totally overrated.

At this point the main and only tweak I’m excited to see an upgrade for is Apex.

  • Ted Forbes

Ok I bought this tweak and installed it on my iOS 4s, 5 and iPad 2. It installed nicely but some of the apps are displayed as empty squares. How do I fix? Is there an update?

  • DeAndre Enrico

So this is basically just QuickActivator.

  • Xahi Shahid

POLUS rocks ! works with prowidgets on ipad , CCLoader doesnt work with prowidgets on ipad ! So POLUS is my saviour ! great WORK !

  • Ellyn IsfeelingThelove

It won’t work. It’s enable and does nothing on my phone.
