Bad news for the creeps who leverage Vine to put their body parts on display as Twitter has decided to remove sexually graphic images from the service.

The mobile-powered video-sharing social network that lets anyone create and share short six-second clips has proven to be the perfect playground for individuals who shamelessly share their sexually explicit videos with the web at large.

According to Vine’s updated Rules and Terms of Service, the service will be proactively banning “explicit sexual content”, effective immediately…

Vine’s blog post explains that “a very small percentage of videos” on the service are not a good fit for the community due to their sexually explicit nature.

“We don’t have a problem with explicit sexual content on the Internet – we just prefer not to be the source of it,” the team remarked jokingly.

The new Rules bar you from posting content that is “pornographic or sexually explicit even if it is of yourself”. Videos marked as sensitive are also a big no-no. Should you violate this policy, Vine may suspend your account temporarily (permanently for repeat offenders).

Temporary account suspensions are eligible for account restoration provided you’ve removed offending posts and certified that your account complies with the Vine Rules.

A help document on Vine’s website offers more information in terms of what Vine deems explicit sexual content: sex acts (whether alone or with another person), use of sex toys for sex acts, close-ups of aroused genitals underneath clothing, art or animation that is sexually graphic (I’m looking at you, hentai!) and sexually provocative nudity, such as posts that focus on exposed genitalia or depict nudity in a context or setting that is sexually provocative, like a strip club.

And now for the good news: Vine isn’t necessarily banning nudity. The help document specifically states that depictions of nudity or partial nudity that are “primarily documentary, educational or artistic in nature” are OK.

“We also allow suggestive posts, just not sexually explicit ones,” reads the doc.

Purists who want to report explicit sexual content on Vine can do so by tapping the button with three dots at the bottom of the post and hitting the ‘Report this post’ button.

Vine is a free download from the App Store.

Have you ever stumbled upon pornographic content on Vine?

And what’s your overall stance on user-generated porn being easily disseminated via sharing services and social networks?

    • bobby_turner

Maybe you can use this opportunity to start thinking about becoming a fuller and better yourself.

Only beta males watch porn and that is usually in their teens. Any older than that is just weak sauce. Fight yourself.

      • highNiggaPie

You’re weird jerking off is fun

      • bobby_turner

I think you’re strange because we all know jerking off is fun BUT it makes you mentally weak.

Believe all you want “h4nd0fg0d,” I am backed by research, self-experimentation and the way you know you feel deep down inside.

  • Antzboogie

This is the dumbest idea in history next you cant curse in a vine clip. Very disturbing when they censor who you are.

    • felixtaf

Meh… Its a social networking site, Not a pornography site. You have plenty options for the latter!

  • Rares

Porn on Vine? How fast would anyone be to finish in 6 seconds? o_O

    • Fr0sty

  • Barcelonian

Thank you so much we want a clean community and cast the degenerate people out. Kids watch vine everyday, so we do not their minds to be ruined. It is the best choice they have made. People can be very disgusting.

    • Jonathan

      • h4nd0fg0d

Let u in on a lil secret, only a beta male is looking to point out beta males. Rofl,,.funny stuff. An alpha male wouldn’t concern himself with the status of other males. Girl much?

      • bobby_turner

Oh wow you’re so right. Maybe I am a beta male after all. Time to watch porn then.

  • Decio Arruda

Thanks to whoever it was at iDB that deleted that threat. Keep up with the good articles, you have been the only news website in my bookmarks because you guys are fast working, know how to control the comments, and because, with the two podcasts, it kind of creates a relationship between you and us the audience. cheers

    • bobby_turner

Don’t you think the “threat” may live deep down within if you feel that something online threatens you?

      • Decio Arruda

        I meant thread

      • bobby_turner

I have seen your responses in the thread that was deleted and could have easily thought you meant the former.

My apologies then. I don’t promote such a form of censorship, but one may argue that it’s a tech blog so I can understand.

I agree with you about what you said about iDB, they’re good at what they do and I’ve been enjoying them for a long time now.

      • Decio Arruda

No need to apologize, it’s my fault I misspelled.

    • felixtaf

Simply flag the offensive comments. U will see the flag sign beside the comment wil read ‘Flag as inappropriate’. Once its flagged, MODs can see it and will remove it ONLY if its offensive. Bcoz, they cant police in the comment section… So, flagging will help….

    • highNiggaPie

Yea ur still a butt nut though
