SpotiSearch Spotlight

I love Spotify and I don’t think that’s a secret. So can you imagine how happy I was when I stumbled upon this new jailbreak tweak in Cydia?

SpotiSearch is a brand new tweak that allows you to search the entire Spotify library using Spotlight search. That’s right, you can search for your favorite artists, albums or songs directly from the same Spotlight search that you use to search your local iPhone.

I’ve taken SpotiSearch for a thorough test-drive on video. Join me inside, as I showcase how this awesome new jailbreak tweak works.

Once you install SpotiSearch, you can configure its settings via the stock Settings app. SpotiSearch’s preferences contain settings for your local region, and select track action—which can play a radio station, or play the track directly (premium Spotify iPhone customers only). There are also result limits, which can individually limit the amount of albums, artists, or tracks returned via a search.

The great thing about SpotiSearch is that the search is fairly instant and it happens natively within iOS’ Spotlight interface. You don’t even have to launch the Spotify app to start searching the entire Spotify library.

Spotlight Search SpotiSearch

If you’re a Spotify user and you’re jailbroken, then I highly recommend SpotiSearch. It’s a quick and easy way to incorporate Spotify searches directly into native Spotlight, and it doesn’t hinder any of the normal Spotlight functionality. You can still rearrange and order the Spotlight search categories, including the new categories for Spotify track, artist, and album search.

SpotiSearch is $0.99 on Cydia’s BigBoss repo, and comes with a recommendation from this hardcore Spotify user and fan. If you decide to give it a try, then please share your experience with the tweak down below in the comments.

Siri integration would be good too. In the past I know there was similar tweaks for Pandora with Siri.

Also, you need to change your theme, it’s pretty yuck.

Where would be a good place a request for a cydia tweak?
I’d like there to be a tweak where when I swipe away Notification Center, it will reset it’s view. What i mean by that, is when I open NC and scroll down, then close NC and reopen it, it’s still scrolled down. I’d like it that when I close NC and reopen it, it’s back at the top.

Out of all things to complain about, that’s it? Wow. The answer to your I don’t think there is.

      • Jonathan

lol. I’m pretty happy. It’s just the little things.
I have this bigger request which would be cool.

Have 2 devices with the same tweak installed. Launch them both, then put both devices in landscape mode and sit one one top the other. Then Once you launch the app, it will combine the 2 screens as 1 so I have a large screen. 😀 I can tap and interact with both, it just syncs over Wifi/Bluetooth in real time. That would be the awesomest tweak ever. If someone is willing to make this, and charge for it, I would so buy it.

more like mirroring option? yeah that’ll be pretty cool, I think there is an option for that. Not as detailed as your description, but there is.

      • Jonathan

No, not mirroring. One half of the screen is on one iPhone, and the other half is on the 2nd iPhone, so your screen in a war is twice as large.

      • Derp

That’s what the jailbreak community is for. So we can have iOS exactly how we want it.

      • Mescudi

yeah completely understandable mate, but there are somethings that aren’t really necessary.

Please make a version combatible with Rdio! Such as awesome tweak

  • Brent Shelton

Killer tweak. One thing that jumps out is that after you click on a track in Spotlight, it takes far too much time and is rather clunky to have to close Spotlight, open Spotify, jump to the track in Spotify, then start playing. Beggars can’t be choosers, I know this, but if it could just start playing the track without leaving Spotlight that would be perfect!

What does Jeff use to make video’s like this?

Looking forward to this one getting updated for iOS 8
