Resized SpringShot

Whenever I see one of Adam Bell’s tweaks hit Cydia I get excited, because I know it’s going to be something innovative and/or fun to use. And Adam didn’t disappoint with his latest release, which is appropriately titled Springshot.

Springshot is a jailbreak tweak that allows you to pull down on the app switcher cards to dismiss apps using a slingshot effect. The WebOS inspired tweak is available free of charge from Cydia’s BigBoss repo. Have a look at our video walkthrough inside to see what Springshot is all about.

Once you install Springshot, open the iOS 7 app switcher and pull down on one of the app cards. You’ll notice the app card reposition itself like normal before shooting off into oblivion. You can also dismiss multiple apps at the same time using the Springshot gesture.

Springshot features a preference panel in the stock Settings app to disabled the tweak. There are no other preferences or settings to configure.

Of course, Springshot does nothing for you from an enhanced functionality standpoint, but it is still worthy of your time just because I think it’s fun to use. Here’s hoping that Adam includes some further options to increase the speed of the animations, which I think is the tweak’s primary shortcoming.

Head over to Cydia’s BigBoss repo where you can find Springshot free of charge, and let me know what you think about it after you take it for a spin.

Its a nice idea but it doesn’t really look like a slingshot effect because it stops for a second and then fly’s up, it would be good to have it in one smooth motion

    • I agree. I think Adam is working on that.

    • Isandro

I also want to make it more like slingshot

(Replies and says exactly what nasty just said)

Now just add the “weeeee!” sound like WebOS did when slinging cards closed on the TouchPad….

I saw another Cydia app that did exactly the same thing but on the Homescreen card to respring, forgot what it’s called, uninstalled it as I couldn’t get it to work after resetting my iPad mini retina…

      switchspring i think

      • ProfSpaceCadet

Yah. It’s called SwitchSpring and it alsp gives you the option to “Quit all Apps.” (though you just swipe up on the homescreen card like you would to close an app, you don’t pull it down).

I need help on my jailbreak

  • Casey H.

So glad this was released. It was so painful having to flick apps up with my thumb. Now I get to pull down! Wait, they are the same amount of effort? Nevermind, I dont need this.

  • Anthony Gilera

It’s stacks with MusicalSwitcher! It stacks very well. I can’t wait until it’s a smoother animation.

  • Barcelonian

It should be fast and there should be a cool sound effects that would be awesome! haha

  • oioile

I prefer Slide2kill 7, slide down and kill all apps

  • Rot Kelfer

I love that little bugger. Amazing how natural it is to use it. Great, simple idea.

  • ProfSpaceCadet

Hmmm…. Wasn’t that a feature of Card Switcher, just without the delay?
