Folks with a jailbroken second generation Apple TV should check out this sweet little deal going on over Stack Social. The deal site has the popular ATV software suite aTV Flash (black) on sale right now for under $20.

For those unfamiliar with Flash (black), it’s a popular software package that extends the capabilities of your Apple TV with tools like a web browser and a weather app, and it can play a wide range of different file types…

We cover a lot of aTV Flash news and announcements here on iDB, and I can say that it’s very impressive software. It’s well designed, has a number of useful features, and the team seeds updates on a fairly consistent basis.

Some key features are:

  • Play Additional Video Formats – MKV, AVI, MP4, WMV, and many others without conversion
  • Surf the Web – HTML5 browser/Google Search without mirroring displays
  • Weather Updates – Stay on top of the latest forecast directly through Apple TV
  • Create Video Playlists – On YouTube and enable unlimited entertainment opportunities
  • Stream – Rock out to tons of radio stations
  • Transfer or play media from a Mac, PC, or NAS device

And here’s a video demo:

Now, normally FireCore’s aTV Flash (black) costs $30. But for the next couple of days, Stack Social will be offering the software suite for just $19.99, a discount of 33%. That includes an activation license, with free updates.

Remember that your Apple TV must be jailbroken to install aTV Flash, and it must be a second-generation model. For those of you who aren’t jailbroken, we have a step-by-step tutorial. For more info on the deal, click here.

  • Sucks windows 8.1 computers have no good support. Infuse works fine on iPhone but not on AppleTV. It streams only when accessing the remote share, but when I set it as a favorite, it gives me an error 13. So it’s definitely the latest version of the infuse software. This did not happen until I upgraded to 5.2. Of the OS.
Anyone have any ideas?, I’ve tried everything. I currently have it running fine on my Mac. Gonna just go back to running Ubuntu and SMB as it’s easy to do and has no issues.

    XBMC is a great alternative.

I don’t see the benefits of FlashBlack. You can jailbreak for free, you can install NitoTV for free, you can install XBMC for free and with the XBMC HUB wizard add-on you can do lots of stuff –> For free … And 2 be honest, browsing the web on an AppleTV isn’t that simple, so no advantage for me.

I’ll probably get downvoted for asking such a stupid question, but I am honestly clueless the advantages when it comes to jailbreaking an Apple TV. Before you judge me, I know all about evasi0n, computers, etc, just this. What are the advantages?
