Readdle’s ‘Scanner Pro’ goes free as Apple’s App of the Week

Scanner Pro Readdle

Apple has named Readdle’s popular ‘Scanner Pro’ its App of the Week for this week. This means that through next Thursday, you’ll be able to pick up the application for both your iPhone and iPad, for free—a sizable savings of $7.

For those unfamiliar with the app, Scanner Pro essentially turns your iOS device into a portable scanner. It can scan documents, receipts, notes, photos, and more, and then upload them to Dropbox, Evernote, and other web services…

From the App Store description:

Scanner Pro transforms your iPhone and iPad into portable scanners. It allows you to scan receipts, whiteboards, paper notes, or any multipage document. Scanned documents can be emailed and printed, uploaded to Dropbox, Google Drive and Evernote, or simply saved on the iPhone/iPad. The application incorporates special algorithms that remove shadows, make scans sharper, correct perspective and make them as readable as possible.

And here are some of the app’s top features:

Scan documents – Scanner Pro scans any type of document, ranging from a receipt to multipage documents. All scans are saved as a PDF.

Process images smartly – automatic edge detection and advanced image processing help you to get great scans blazingly fast. You can also adjust the crop area manually, by tapping on the screen.

Real-time border detection – while making a scan, borders are detected visually and in real time. Thus you can choose the best position to get a perfect scan and skip manual borders adjustments.

Scan documents into a PDF file – all scanned document are produced as industry-standard PDF files. You can add new scans, delete or rearrange pages within a PDF file.

In addition to uploading scanned files to the web, you can also quickly email or print them with a single tap. Scanner Pro also supports iCloud syncing, meaning a document scanned with your iPhone can be accessed using the iPad app.

Scanner Pro is widely regarded as one of the best, if not the best document-scanning app for iOS. First introduced in 2009, it’s collected a number of awards and it’s currently rated a 4.5 out of 5 in the App Store on nearly 8000 ratings.

I’d recommend grabbing the app even if you don’t plan on using it right away. Scanner Pro is available in the App Store, for a limited time, for free.
