gta sa 1

Rockstar’s wildly popular Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is now available in the App Store. The game, which first launched on the PlayStation 2 all the way back in 2004, is now available on both the iPhone and iPad.

Rockstar says that this is their biggest mobile port ever. The game features over 70-hours of gameplay, enhanced visuals, and—for the first time ever—support for Apple’s new Made-for-iOS controller technology in iOS 7…

gta sa 2

From the App Store description:

Five years ago, Carl Johnson escaped from the pressures of life in Los Santos, San Andreas, a city tearing itself apart with gang trouble, drugs and corruption. Where filmstars and millionaires do their best to avoid the dealers and gangbangers.

Now, it’s the early 90’s. Carl’s got to go home. His mother has been murdered, his family has fallen apart and his childhood friends are all heading towards disaster. On his return to the neighborhood, a couple of corrupt cops frame him for homicide. CJ is forced on a journey that takes him across the entire state of San Andreas, to save his family and to take control of the streets.

And some of the game’s top features:

– Remastered, high-resolution graphics built specifically for mobile including lighting enhancements, an enriched color palette and improved character models.
– Enhanced for the iPhone 5 series and iPad 4th Gen and above with dynamic detailed shadows and real-time environmental reflections.
– Physical controller support for all Made-for-iOS controllers.
– Cloud save support for playing across all your iOS devices for Rockstar Social Club Members.
– Dual analog stick controls for full camera and movement control.
– Three different control schemes and customizable controls with contextual options to display buttons only when you need them.

From what I’ve seen thus far, Rockstar has another solid port on its hands. The graphics look good, the soundtrack is [of course] good, and the game plays well once you get used to the controls (which are also customizable).

Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is universal for both the iPhone and iPad, and supports the iPhone 4s+, iPad 2 or later and the 5th gen iPod touch. If you’d like to check it out, it’s now available in the App Store for $6.99.

    Another misleading title..

    • Keir Dicus

How is the title misleading? It clearly states what this article talks about….

      • M 

        It’s still rolling out

      • Melvco

No, it’s in the App Store—see the link at the end of the post. It just may not be in your country yet.

Man, I get no credit for tipping. Why you no do me like this?

  • NaSty

Waiting for it to release on the UK store………..

    • Bangali

      it’s there now!

      • NaSty

Its cool, i grabbed it from the US store, I still had some money in that account 🙂

  • jack

wow I loved that GTA… tatoos.. gym.. lol so fun

  • ChildishGambinoGotThatSwagger

Imma download the cracked ipa and check this out. I hope the controls work fine.

    • Siv

Tell me pls also link me. I can’t find the ipa. Only turbonet is avail and turnonet is garbage.

    • Lucas Tres

I hope that, after you TEST the cracked app you pay for the one on the store, ok?! It’s not fair with the developers to use cracked apps!

      • ChildishGambinoGotThatSwagger

its not available in the US yet. when it is, I will buy it. I bought the other two. why wait. but anyway it doesn’t work, crashes on some devices ios 6 and under. i’ll wait for them to get the kinks out

      • Flex

Just confirming for anyone out there that this works on iPhone 4 iOS 6.1.3 Jailbroken.

      • jack

what if you are poor and don’t have the money to spare? should you be deprived from the fun?

      • Rowan09

Yes. Buy and support or developers won’t see a reason to make games. If you can’t afford something it’s not ok to steal it.

      • jack

Stop being melodramatic. When you steal something, you deprive the original person of the object stolen. Copying is multiplication

      • Rowan09

It’s stealing if you get something that not free for free. I’m not a fan of pirating games, developers spend time to make them so pay for it to support the developers or move on to what you can afford. It’s only $7 so if someone can’t afford it just save up. I would understand if it was a $60 game but it’s only $7.

  • awesome

  • Tony Trenkle Jr.

Entire ports of games onto ios, this is very impressive. GTA IV and V will should be on here in 3 years or so maybe sooner, who knows. I never got these games for the consoles so I’m glad they are coming out to iOS

    • pawfyd

We’re not going to see GTA IV anytime soon if ever on mobile. Belive me.

      • Brian Voll

That’s what they said about GTA3…

      • Tony Trenkle Jr.

I don’t know man with the way technology is going I wouldn’t doubt it. I mean if they can get 70 hours of gameplay in THIS one? Anything a possible in the future

      • mehrab

Whats crazy is it runs fine on the ipad2 which is soo bloody old. They just took advantage of the a6 chip and pushed it limits. they never mentioned anything about the a7 or 64 bit i dont thing they even touched it as most androids will be able to cope up
Btw 64 bit will make it much easier to port games and apps too

      • Yash Gorana

Not all games run on 64-bit architecture. Mostly they all run on 32-bit.

      • mehrab

Shocker really? Most gamingmpc”s are 64 bit tho?

      • NaSty

70 hours of gameplay? Not sure how long the original PS2 version was, but it seems a little low ( for some reason), maybe some parts have been removed?

      • pawfyd

Nah, it’s been something like this to complete GTA San Andreas. It of course depends on your playing style, because some people like to just explore the world for hours. 🙂

      • Bob

GTA IV has trouble running on my GTX680, maybe in 5-10 years or so but definitely not anytime soon.

  • bobism

    downloading now

  • Alex Yamil

i want to buy a MFI control but i don’t know which is better… Moga or Powershell …

    • Yash Gorana

What difference will it make. Hold it in your hand and buy the one you feel is better. Job done.

      • Alex Yamil

Actually, moga has the extended controlller support.
And in this game, full camera control.
