bing 2 4

Microsoft has posted a significant update for Bing for iPad this evening, bringing the app to version 2.0. The update includes a number of improvements, including an all-new design for iOS 7 and new SkyDrive bookmarks.

The new design features flat images and text, and a lot of open space (good news though, it’s not all white). And with the new bookmarks feature, you can now save bookmarks and images, and access them via SkyDrive…

Here’s the full 2.0 change log:

– A cleaner, simpler UI for iOS 7.
– Save the daily image to use as wallpaper.
– Save bookmarks and images and access them via SkyDrive.
– Share what you find on Facebook, Twitter, and more.
– Earn Bing Rewards credits for your web searches.
– Improved Maps search results.
– Updated Bing logo and color palette.
– Gift Finder – Find appropriate gift ideas for family and friends

Perhaps the most useful new feature, with the holidays coming up, is the new ‘Bing Knows’ Gift Finder. Accessed from the menu bar, the gift finder asks you a series of age/interest questions to help you narrow down gift ideas.

If you’ve never used Bing for iPad, it’s really worth checking out. It’s different than using Google, and not nearly as fast for impromptu web searches. But it’s very well designed, and presents trending content in an interesting way.

For those interested, you can find the latest version of Bing for iPad in the App Store for free.

  • Who (besides Spider-Man in the last movie) use Bing? I mean, it’s a beautiful app, but Google is way better to search…

    • do you know bing search engine still in beta

Do you know that I only use safari

I use it for image search, actually. Bing uses a grid layout that puts more images on the screen at a time.

I’m not religiously devoted to any search engine, though. I use Google a lot, too. They both have smart people behind them.

I can’t think of any reasons why anyone would prefer Bing instead of Google.
Is there some kind of niche market that only uses Bing as their search engine?, Google is pretty much king at what it does & I don’t see that changing at all lol

I can’t think of any reason why anyone would want to use Bing or Google. Just use DuckDuckGo or if you really must do a Google search then use StartPage.

DuckDuckGo? Explain why would I use DuckDuckGo over Google…. Or was that joke? And I completely whiffed on it..

No it wasn’t a joke I was being serious see here as to why you would want to:

I just checked it out and I completely understand your point. With all the NSA snooping, but I always stop to think if people have something to hide then services like DuckDuckGo is useful.

With all the social networks and the dot com era we live in, if the government or any ad services company wants to find something… They can. I’m not against DuckDuckGo or any services that help to defend our privacy, but it’s a tough battle to fight off.

Make a US iTunes account & download it that way. Works perfectly.
I do this all time, since Australian’s miss out on a lot of stuff too..
