Square Enix posts screenshots of upcoming Final Fantasy VI iOS port

Final Fantasy VI (teaser 001)

Back in October, Square Enix director Takashi Tokita announced that his team was working on a mobile version of its popular Final Fantasy VI title. The game, he said, will be landing on iOS and Android platforms “this winter.”

Unfortunately, that’s about all we know right now, and the winter timeframe means we may not see anything until mid-March. But luckily, Square Enix decided to throw FF fans a bone this week and has posted some screenshots…

Square Enix posted these two gameplay images to its website this week (via PocketGamer):

Not much can be gleaned from these screenshots, but they are the first we’ve seen of the game. Square Enix says that this won’t be a direct port of the 1994 console game, but rather a remake with enhanced visuals and controls.

As usual, we’ll let you know as soon as we have more details about the release of Final Fantasy VI. In the meantime, feel free to check out these recent FF releases: Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy IV: The After Years for iOS.
