iTunes Radio (three-up, iPhone 5)

Folks in Canada will be happy to hear that iTunes Radio may soon be landing in the country. A new job listing on Apple’s website calls for a ‘iTunes Canada Music Programmer,’ who will be responsible for rolling out the music service.

Apple launched iTunes Radio last month alongside the redesigned iOS 7, and thus far it’s only been available in the US. But if this job listing is any indication, the company could soon be rolling out the music service to more countries…

Here’s the description of the position, first spotted by 9to5Mac:

“The Canadian Music Programmer will be responsible for the programming of iTunes Radio and the iTunes Music store in Canada. This particular role will report directly to the Head of Music for the Canadian iTunes store, and will be responsible for working cross-functionally across a variety of teams including Editorial, Label Relations, Marketing, Sales, Production & Engineering, and more.

The Canadian Music Programmer will be an editorial voice of iTunes Radio, and will be responsible for keeping the product current. This person must have a passion for and deep knowledge of music across numerous genres and decades, and must demonstrate the ability to objectively program content relevant to iTunes customers.”

The job responsibilities will include deciding what music to feature on Radio stations, entering music into the content management system, creating seasonal and relevant editorial collections, and generating incremental music sales.

In a recent interview with the Associated Press, Apple’s SVP of Internet software and services Eddy Cue said he has been ‘very pleased’ with iTunes Radio feedback thus far, and he hopes to roll it out internationally as soon as possible.

I dont know how, but I can use iTunes radio even though I live in Turkey. I use an US Store ID, that is probably how. So it is not based on location, but the Apple ID?

    • Moi

Same with me , I’m in Algeria with an us iTunes account so I can enjoy iTunes Radio , and that’s perfect , I’m not waiting apple to release iTunes Radio in my country , cause I prefer the us music really really

      • Umut Bilgiç

        Yeah! Same here 😀

      • Moi

So you’re from turkey , that’s super cool

      • Umut Bilgiç

Hahah that is? 😀 why would that be? 🙂

      • Moi

        I just like turkey , I think it’s a very beautiful country

      • Umut Bilgiç

Yay!! I do like the historical background and the foundations of our republic inspiring and beautiful. But the people whi are sitting it top of the hard earned republic, and destroying it as well, are horrible. The government in turkey is in one word: DISASTEROUS. 🙁

It makes me happy that you like it though! :3

      • Moi

I like it because once my country was a part of it so we still share some culture 🙂

      • Umut Bilgiç

Yep! We share a lot dude :)) we will be learning Algerian culture in a few months at school, it is not a part of the syllabus, but indeed it aounded interesting to pick up :p

      • Moi

In our schools we learn about turkey every year ( in history class )

      • Umut Bilgiç

Oh wow! I didnt know ! That sounds nice!! 😀

    • Martynas Linkevicius

will I work if I switch my store via settings?

      • Umut Bilgiç

I actually tried that with one of my friends iPhone 4. It didnt seem to work. Maybe you have to update using that account? I dont know. But make sure you give it a try for yourself, we probably did something wrong. If it does not work try rebooting or something. That could get it to work probably. 🙂

      • Martynas Linkevicius

I have switched the stores, went into the Music app and BAM! A wild iTunes Radio tab appeared.

    • Sukhpal Singh Bajwa

I am also having an U. S. iTunes account and living here in India and still have access to iTunes radio.

Definitely, its account based not location based !!!!

      • Umut Bilgiç

It seems strange that Apple would not do it based in your location. Anyway though, I still can enjoy iTunes Radio and that is what I care for the most part 😛

  • rosssimpson

  • Filipe Martins

i think Apple already took action about people who have and US Apple Store. I have one and i can use iTunes Radio for a couple of minutes. Then i get a message saying iTunes Radio is not available at the moment and to try later 🙁 didn’t try using VPN though

    • Filipe Martins
