If you’ve been looking for a wallet-case combo for a new iPhone 5s, or your current iPhone 5, you may want to check out OtterBox. The company just announced a new Commuter Series Wallet case.

The case will fit both the iPhone 5 and 5s, and combines OtterBox’s legendary toughness with the slimmer design of its Commuter series. And on the back, a space for your credit cards and money…

Here’s the promotional clip for the new case:

And here are some of its more notable features:

  • Multi-layer case guards against damage to your device
  • Slimline design hides contents, keeping them safe and secure
  • Self-adhering screen protector guards against scratches and scrapes to the glass display
  • Access drawer holds up to three cards and one bill
  • Audible click closure gives you peace of mind knowing your items are securely enclosed
  • Access Wallet drawer contents without turning case over

Finally, this clip shows how you install the case:

For some reason, OtterBox doesn’t mention the exact dimensions of the case, but it doesn’t look extraordinary slim. The good news, though, is that the Commuter line is well reviewed for its durability.

Sure there are other case-wallet combos on the market, like TwelveSouth’s BookBook, but this seems like a solid option. And the price is right, the Commuter Wallet is now available in 3 colors for $45.

Woah, this case seems like it falls somewhere betwixt silly and horrific!

    • Jamie Tilden

I’m sorry, did you seriously just use the word ‘betwixt’? And how would this case cause horror?

      • Eric Mason

He could mean horrific as in awful, terrible, or atrocious. Not frightful or fearful.

  • Cameron Nottingham

So when someone steals your phone, They get your money too!!

    • iBanks

If I’m going to steal your money, I’m going to steal your phone too. What’s the difference?

      • Cameron Nottingham

Well. If someone leaves their phone laying around i get there money without them even being there. If i steal there wallet I get there money there phone might not be on them. Plus phones offer a horde of personal data. Combine that with a stolen credit card and thieves have a gold mine

      • iBanks

These details doesn’t have much relation to your original post. Your original post stated if someone steals your phone, they get your money too. Nothing about it laying around. But I have nothing to worry about, they have to steal my fingerprint to get into my device, I don’t carry cash, my debit card can be deactivated at any point by simply logging into my acct.

      • iPhobia

who says that I need your fingerprint in order to get into your device? haha Watch out my friend ;)

      • David

But, why would you want to put yourself through all that when you could simply carry a purse or wallet for your cash and or cards?

      • David

If I loose my phone, the finder not only get’s the phone, but my money and my card too! It’s just not a practical idea when you can simply use a separate wallet!

      • iBanks

I’ve used a basic wallet case for over 6 months until the corner of the case broke, but never had any worries or issues. My phone is with me at all times, even when taking a shyt. If you’re going to get robbed, they are going to want you for everything valuable on you. And btw, I don’t use a wallet. I carry a single debit card (my simple card) and my DL, this case is practical for me but too ugly and bulky.

      • HD

unless you glue the phone to you, then you are never 100% sure it will be with you all the time.

      • iBanks

As I said… With me at all times. Only time not on me is when in the shower. Even then, it’s still with me. On the counter.

      • Nick Gercken

But if you lose your wallet, you don’t have a built-in tracking radar to get it back and give people an address where a good Samaritan might find you…

  • Question

    I see how she looks!!!

  • iBanks

    Too bulky!

  • idk

    Slow news day today..

    • CryptoCoin420

Always is on the weekend…nothing new here…….

  • Mark

You put money on it? nah…

  • Cameron Chao

way too bulky, do guys really pocket their phones like this?

    • David

Not only that, I several cards and they all can’t fit into this I sore of a device.

  • Joe Benning

I gave up on OtterBox along time ago. The inner rubber they use seems to stretch out too much. After a while, it got too difficult to put the case together. For a $50 case, I would expect better than that. I had the Incipio Stowaway case for a long time with no issues for the 4S and now I have it for the 5s. It’s a great case/storage/sidestand. They cost about $15-20 on Amazon.

    • Erny Carrillo

Knock off versions stretch out n get ugly. Original real otterboxes dont. Not saying u had a knock off but maybe u can get an exchange for 50 bucks!!!

      • iBanks

Trust and believe, original otter boxes does stretch and get ugly. We sold them all the time at VZW and people come back and the rubber doesn’t fit right around the plastic anymore. Especially if they tend to take it off and on often.

  • Abdl

Please its kinda urgent!! Anybody know if apple is still signing 7.0 now that 7.0.2 is out?

  • Khis Ariasaif

The one case to lose them all.

  • Yujin

    Fuuuuuuuuugllllyyyy

  • Modest

I’m so jealous for people who live in the US and they basically don’t need coins. I’m so sick and tired of them, it makes me to move countries just because of that.

    • Dri

      Use a creditcard.

      • Modest

If every shop would accept it, I would. But you still can’t carry only that.

      • Dri

Were i live every store accept cards so i dont have that problem.

      • Modest

I said that wrong. Where I go, shop or whatever – stores accept cards – but smaller ones always have a surcharge because you use a card. Some of them even £2 (around 3$). And what if I need only a pack of gum which is £0.55?

      • Dri

Damn. In Denmark they are not allowed to do that

  • El Arqui Tecto

Perfect to lose both, money and iPhone.

    • Tom

      hahahaha

    • CryptoCoin420

Only morons lose their phone. I hold on to my precious like its GOLD. Also its called find my iPhone. And if you have problems holding onto a phone that costs $500+ dollars maybe you need a cheaper phone. Just sayin.

      • Mahjikk

Oh, I can’t wait until you lose your phone, cause, you know, people don’t lose them intentionally or because they weren’t holding them tight enough. Just sayin.

  • Freddie

Might as well carry the moon in my pocket.

  • Question

Omg it’s such a slow news day today! I came to check if there’s anything new but no :(

  • Rastar-Marn

  • http://boyangeorgiev.tumblr.com/ Boyan Georgiev

Awful, it’s a crime to put your beautiful iPhone in that monstrosity. And soon we won’t even need physical money and cards, we already have the hardware – phone with Touch ID, the only thing left is good implementation.

  • Bob

Otterbox don’t do anything innovative and their cases are bulky/crap.

    • iBanks

How innovative do you expect a case to be? It’s an case.

      • Bob

Think outside the box my friend. The same question you asked could be applied to pretty much anything. There’s no limit to innovation.

  • trangalanga

If you lose your phone you lose all ur sheeeetttt

    • Dominic

except the phone has GPS so you’ll find it faster than if you lose an actual wallet

  • beharrys

Wallet cases are not as bad as people think, they can be very practical especially on nights out! If I loose my handbag I loose everything. Just need to make sure you don’t leave your phone lying around!
