Great news gamers! Gameloft has made its recently-released ‘Asphalt 8: Airborne’ game free for a limited time. The developer made the announcement yesterday via its Twitter account, saying that the title would be free through the weekend.

Asphalt 8, which as the name suggests is the eighth installment in the popular racing series, made its debut just a few weeks ago in late August. The game features over 40 licensed cars, an extensive Career mode, and an all-new physics engine…

Touch Arcade gave Asphalt 8 a perfect score of 5 out of 5 stars:

“When you combine that with the impressive graphical sheen and the large amount of available content, I can’t really think of a reason why you shouldn’t check outAsphalt 8. The iOS platform has quietly become a haven for great racers, and Asphalt 8 looks to be leading the pack right now.”

And CNET gave it an ‘Excellent’ rating at 4 out of 5 stars:

“Asphalt 8: Airborne is the best arcade racing game I’ve played in a while and the best so far in the franchise. With tons of cool cars to unlock, tracks with several shortcuts and alternate routes, and high-speed, flipping-through-the-air, nitro-boosted racing action, this game is great for a quick adrenaline rush.”

Still not convinced? Here’s the official gameplay trailer:

Sure, Asphalt 8: Airborne is normally just $0.99, and it does have some IAPs—though they aren’t required like they are in free-to-play titles. But we still think that at $0, it’s worth downloading. To find the universal game in the App Store, click here.

Will you be picking up Asphalt 8 this weekend?

  • Victor

I knew they would do this so I didn’t buy it when it first came out.

    • Smuys

      sadly… I did.

      • rasengan720 .

I feel sad for you bro but hahaha 😛

      • Piyush

you should be proud , you did great job , you supported the developer .

      • JulianZHuang

gameloft earn so much through IAP that they use cash to start the fire every time they barbeque.

      • Piyush

still this game is not bad at all , do you want gameloft to be making game like rr3.

    • Razick Rilshad

      Me too

  • JulianZHuang

Downloaded it, got it on iCloud, deleted. Haha no more space.

    • seyss

you cheap bastard. (I did that too)

      • Moi

We’re all cheap , I did it too

      • ClaudieX X

        I did it too… and I do it everytime….

    • bob

      I don’t understand

      • Tardroid

he saved it in iCloud for later download.

    • Razick Rilshad

      Same thing I did

    • haridsv

Why not just delete it as soon as it starts “Loading”? What is the advantage of also getting it on iCloud?

      • JulianZHuang

well, it wont be free after this weekend. I got it on my icloud because I want to download it free again when I got a bigger size iphone.

      • haridsv

Once you purchase it, it is in your history and you can always redownload it from appstore. When the text under the app icon changes from waiting… to loading… you can be sure that the purchase is already done.

  • Sam Wizla

This game is absolutely rubbish I wouldn’t recommend wasting time downloading it as I guarantee you will delete it after. How can they boast about a ‘physics engine’ when the cars do stupid impossible 360 spins and barrel rolls that look so tacky and unrealistic. And don’t even get me started on the ‘drifting’ its thats what they can call it, it actually makes your car go faster than driving normally (because of the totally awesome ‘physics engine’). Just get Real Racing 3 the graphics and gameplay are much better, and if your jailbroke you can actually use iapcracker (which doesn’t work in Asphalt 8)

    • Danuel Carr

I agree. Real Racing is far and away the best racing sim on the AppStore.

    • Dan

Most Gameloft games are, they look nice on the outside but are empy and tacky on the inside.

      • Piyush

Yeah there games are like no soul in it , but they are improving a lot nova 3 and mc4 and even asphalt 8 are good fun game at cheap price.

    • Sean Clark

You clearly have never played an Asphalt racing game. It’s supposed to be over the top and unrealistic. Their goal was never to build an accurate racing simulator.

If you want a realistic racing experience, get the one with “Real” in the name. In the mean time, tell me what you think about Mario Kart.

      • seyss

I agree.. I played Asphalt 1 on the original iPhone and it was more like a fantasy-type racing.. if you want real go for Real Racing which is great

    • notewar

The only racing game i enjoyed was ‘Need for Speed:Most Wanted (2008)’….Sadly it doesnt support retina = (

    • seyss

In my tests LocalIAPstore works in more games than IAPcracker.. check it out (my latest test was on Jelly Splash, that little cute and evil game)

    • Adan

Couldn’t agree more. But mind you’re words… there’s so many nazi’s on the blogosfere who would crucify you for having a different opinion 😉

      • Sam Wizla

lol let them crack on I couldn’t care less what fanboys of this shit think, i’m just pissed that I actually paid for this game what a waste it turned out to be

      • Adan

WASTE and SHIT. Yes, two words I’d describe this game as.

  • omrishtam

are u fking kidding me gameloft?

  • bob

    no thanks

  • Kurt

Got this yesterday thanks to felixtaf

    • felixtaf

      Welcome 🙂

  • Yasser Kaskas

Aww man one of the few times I actually paid for a game and it goes free a week later…guess I deserve it

  • rasengan720 .

To All those faggots that were giving me argumentative comments when this game was first released.. In your face!!! Your lose bitches!!!

    • Adan

      Oh… a homophobic redneck… how novel.

      • rasengan720 .

        Why you do this?

  • workin

Thnx 4 the free tip! It’s good, though I’d tired of them after 4 or 5. A – is it’s a bit slot car formulaic, derivative Most Wanted(who then copied Asphalt…)
It this is only game u can do a spin-off a bridge ramp-and this iteration is def an upgrade.
    I keep wrecking though.

  • Sai

I have a question. How do I install a paid app onto an iPod touch with out being jbroken. Can’t u do something with the ipa?

    • rasengan720 .

Nope installing the ipa won’t work without being jail broken unless you have the apple Id details of the person who originally owns the ipa you downloaded

    • imra qyasif

No, it wont work that way. just launch app store on your brothers ipod, log into your own id, go to Purchased, find the game and install.

  • Riley Freeman

already paid for it the day it came out.

  • Adan

I have to point out, that this game looks shite on iPad 3… no retina graphics!

Basically, it looks nothing like the pictures they use to advertise it. Downloaded and DELETED!

  • Anonymous

It’s not free on android 🙁

  • O. Bakerman

What a waste of time. 🙁

  • Downloaded it because it was free. Played it a bit then deleted it.

  • Sai

So I downloaded asphalt 7 when it was free but recently I deleted it. But when I sync my ipad with iTunes and go to the app section asphalt 7 is still there and it allows me to download. Can I take that ipa and download to my brothers iPod touch 4gen ios 6.0.1 ( non- jailbroken) by dragging the ipad to the mobile apps folder on iTunes on his account. Oh by the way I’m using windows 7 fyi.
