T-Mobile announces new iPhone pricing: $0 down for 5c, $99 down for 5s

T-Mobile iPhone launch line

Folks hoping to score one of Apple’s new iPhones on the cheap may want to check out T-Mobile. The carrier has announced its pricing for the smartphones, which will allow customers to get an iPhone 5c for as little as $0 down, and the iPhone 5s for as little as $99 down.

Of course, those are just the up front costs. You’ll have to pay off the rest of the device via monthly payments. The 16GB iPhone 5c, for example, will cost you $22 per month for 24 months, and the 16GB iPhone 5s will require you to make 24 monthly payments of $22.91…

Still, that equals out to be about a $20 discount off the standard iPhone 5c price, and even the 5s model is a few dollars cheaper than what Apple charges. And don’t forget, T-Mobile is one of the few US carriers still offering unlimited data—plans start at just $50 per month.

As with other carriers and retailers, T-Mobile will begin offering pre-orders for the iPhone 5c on Friday, September 13 at 12:01 am Pacific Time. The iPhone 5s, however, will not be available for pre-order, but it can be purchased from the provider starting on September 20.

    That’s damn good

  • Weak Sauce

Poor americans. You get such crap deals. Whilst here in the UK we will get iPhone 5s £0 £35 per month Unlimited Calls, Texts and Internet.

    • Darryll4sh0

Metro pc has the same thing in America for about 30£ so cry on….

      • Luke Mulholland

I thought MetroPC didn’t do iPhones? I know they good unlimited plans but don’t sell iPhones. Swear I read that somewhere?

      • Y2J

Yeah, Metro doesn’t have iPhones. I don’t know how the service is, but Virgin Mobile has iPhones with 300 minutes, unlimted text and data for like $35/month. I’m happy with my T-Mobile though.

      • Julian Gigola

        T-Mo is great!

      • Y2J

People complain about it, and I’ll be the first to admit that it’s not AT&T or Verizion, but I live out in a very rural area, and my iPhone 4 only gets edge, but my sister’s phone (I can’t remember which one) gets 4G consistently out here. Personally, I’d sacrifice a little bit of speed for unlimited data any day. On a not very related note: I can’t wait for the 5s!

    • Maxim∑

      we do have LTE though

      • Luke Mulholland

        So do we. (UK)

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

Europe in general wins in 3G and LTE 4G coverage agains US.

This is one of a few things that we can be proud. Maybe only Japan (and other few Asian countries) can kick our asses.

      • Maxim∑

I agree, I am not pure american lol. Overall Europe’s plans are less of a rip off than here

      • http://twitter.com/int3nsive Int3nsive

What bothers me, at least in my country, is to see that instead of competing, all carriers have almost the same prices and offers.

A policy completely corrupt and anti competitive. Because we could get even better prices.

And the authority that regulates the system says that there’s no signs of any deal between them…

    • Tom Brady

Who cares. We live in america you tea drinking sissy

      • Brit

Tea drinking sissies huh? Well at least the average person here doesn’t take up 5 seats on the subway fatty.

      • ConduciveMammal

Haha good job you and are on the same page :D

      • Tom Brady

Lol don’t start with the fat jokes. And besides we are now the second fattest country. Thank you very much

      • ConduciveMammal

True. But at least we ain’t the fattest country in the world, eh Fatty?

    • ConduciveMammal

What network’s that on? I checked in EE and O2 today but they had no details until the month’s end

  • Darryll4sh0

I gonna pick up a 5s but I don’t know if tmobile stocks the 32gb in stores. When the ip5 launched tmobile only had 16gb in stores.

    • Tobias9413

I sure hope they do though because that’s what in going for since I have tmobile. My unlocked AT&T iPhone 5 doesn’t run 3G and the area I live in only has 3G and very limited lte so most the time I’m on edge which sucks.

If Apple wants to win the marketshare war, they need to get rid off iPod Touch and make the iPhone5c at the same price range. 299 at least, without any contract. Most of the people who buys the iPod Touch it’s because they can’t get any iPhone and as a smartphone, they buy some Android phone.

Don’t know about the US, but this is a reality at least in Europe. No wonder why Samsung here sells like hot cakes.

    • chumawumba

I was thinking the same thing. $299 off contract would kill the iPod touch

  • FrankensteinBlack

Wait, isn’t AT&T NEXT “$0″ down (except for taxes) across all models?

    • Luke Mulholland

      Yup, it appears that way.

  • Arthur

Ok.. So here’s the thing. Apple made an iPhone 5c and they say is the “Cheaper” option.. My b*alls! What Apple is doing is just discontinue the iPhone 5 and make the people that doesn’t research about Apple think that it’s a brand new iPhone when it’s not! It’s just an iPhone 5 with the C at the end, plastic and crappy colors. Plus a $99 with contract? Really? That’s the iPhone 5. $549 without a contract? That would be the iPhone 5 at any Apple Store. Apple never losses money and never will. Same processor, camera, ram. Apple do something interesting with your products! And I’m writing this from my iPhone 5 and I totally love it! But I hate when Apple makes these type of things.

    • Ignacio Irigoyen

Not much diferent from samsung and the galaxy minis

    • Ted Forbes

      Yep!

  • Jason Masters

tmobile is extremely deceitful this 99$ down in the micro super tiny print you have to pay the full amount of taxes on the full retail cost so that 99$ balloons up dont be fooled you will pay way more then 99$
