Plants vss Zombies 2 (teaser 001)

At this point, it seems like we’ve been waiting on ‘Plants vs. Zombies 2′ for forever now. First previewed back in March of this year, the sequel to PopCap’s popular tower defense game was supposed to launch in July, but was delayed until ‘late summer.’

Then a few weeks ago, the title was soft-launched in two countries: Australia and New Zealand, with no explanation when we would see the title stateside. But never fear, the wait is over. ‘Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time’ just hit App Stores worldwide…

From the App Store’s description:

“The zombies are coming… back. It’s about time! The sequel to the hit action-strategy adventure with over 30 Game of the Year awards is here. Join Crazy Dave on a crazy adventure where you’ll meet, greet and defeat legions of zombies from the dawn of time to the end of days. Amass an army of powerful new plants, super charge them with Plant Food and power up your defenses with amazing new ways to protect your brain.”

And here’s your official PvZ trailer:

As you can see, the game has virtually been rebuilt from the ground up and there’s new plant food and power-ups, new levels and new zombies. It also takes advantage of newer technologies, like cloud saving, which lets you sync and save across multiple devices.

You’ll also notice that the title is now a freemium app, meaning it’s free to download and play, but at some point or another you’ll be encouraged to make in-app purchases. The developers say, though, that everything in the game can be unlocked via gameplay.

Speaking of gameplay, here’s a clip:

If you’re interested, you can grab ‘Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time’ from the App Store. It’s universal, meaning it works on both the iPhone and iPad, and of course it’s free.

about time! have been playing this for a couple of weeks now and i cant get enought! the game is just amaizing i have to say! :) the grinding ist that bad as many ppl say, i found it awesome to fail a level multiple times just to learn the right strategy and own that stage! i curently aced the 1st level with all 3 stars and no “in game buy” needed :) 5 of 5 from me!

    • Xee

Same here, my daughter and I couldn’t wait so I downloaded it from Aus App Store. Reckon I’m about half way through the game now. No iAP used.

      Great game!

  • Cameron Nottingham

    Finally ! :)

  • Mohammad Ridwan

    iAP… Enough said…

    • Raúl Díez Martín

Using iAP will ruin the game…

  • ItzEddie

Unfortunately this is not that good, after playing for a while it will get to the point where you can sort of tell the developers are basically trying to force you into making an in-app purchase. Some games get along quite well without requiring it but you genuinely can’t get passed some levels without making an in-app purchase.

    • Nir Tal

Bullshit. I finish all the levels with 3 stars without using any iap.
      So stop with the whining

      • ItzEddie

Not whining just pointing out a fact as these games will always push you towards IAP, don’t get the wrong idea. The part I am talking about is the second locked (behind the key) set of levels where it absolutely just throws zombies at you, and protecting your four plants at the same time isn’t that easy. So lose the attitude and stop acting all high and mighty.

      • Lance Baker

Just because there is a challenge doesn’t mean they are forcing you into IAP. I completed those levels without.

    • Xee

Not come across any levels yet that are so hard that would require iAP.

    • 3aloo1

Nope i finished the game without a single purchase

  • Abhishek

First app with io7 support :-)

    • ItzEddie

Not strictly true, they fixed a Spotify bug in iOS 7, so its not like the developers are not working for iOS 7 at all.

      • Abhishek

But it has a text !!

  • Dri

    Looks borring. Just my opinion

  • Markus Hudobnik

Beat the game already using my other Australian account. :p

  • batongxue
