See who you’re talking to with Messages Conversation Photos

If you’re looking for a jailbreak tweak that embeds your contact photos into your native Messages app, there’s several options to choose from. Just off the top of my head, I can think of Copic, ChatPic, and xMessages.

Today, we’re adding another one to the pile with Messages Conversation Photos. And like the others, it takes the images from your contact list and applies them to your messaging threads in the default Messages app…

If you’re wondering what sets this tweak apart from the others, it’s definitely not features. There’s no Home screen icon here, or even options to configure in the Settings app. Once you install the package, it goes to work.

And for Messages Conversation Photos, that work involves embedding contact images into your text and iMessage threads. It pulls the photos directly from your Contacts list and inserts them via a Path-like chat bubble.

A few things: I like the way the tweak embeds photos—circles are better looking than squares for some reason, and I like how lightweight it feels. That comes at a price, though, as it’s way under-featured compared to the others.

But that may not bother some folks. And otherwise it’s a pretty solid tweak. So if you’ve been looking for something like this, it’s worth checking out. You can find Messages Conversation Photos in the BigBoss repo, for free.
