Earlier this year, it was believed that the iPhone 5S would go into production in March ahead of an early summer release. But after rumors of manufacturing issues began to circulate, the handset’s expected arrival time was pushed back to the fall.

And a new report out of the east this morning corroborates that theory. A Japanese newspaper is reporting that Sharp, one of Apple’s primary panel partners, is gearing up to begin mass production of LCD displays for the iPhone 5S next month…

Google translation of report from Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun (via AppleInsider):

“Sharp also begin in June the mass production of the next model for the liquid crystal panel of the (multi-function mobile phone) smartphone that Apple is planning on. Appears to have embarked on production readiness of consecutive holidays from May Kameyama Plant No. 1 of Apple smartphones LCD dedicated plagued by sluggish occupancy rate since the beginning of the year.”

So essentially, the report is claiming that Sharp will begin mass producing iPhone 5S display panels in June at its Kameyama Plant No. 1, in Mie Prefecture, Japan. And it goes on to say that Apple has ordered panels from LG and Japan Display as well.

Industry chatter regarding Apple’s next generation handset has been fairly consistent throughout the months. All reports seem to point to a familiar-looking phone with internal upgrades, a better camera, and possibly a built-in fingerprint sensor.

The only detail of the device that seems to change with the weather is its release date. Some pundits believe Apple will show off the 5S at its WWDC event next month, but if reports like the one above hold true, we won’t see it until August or September.

    • yahmed

Yup definitely can’t wait for the new design + iOS 7 as well

      • Ahmadjoon

I love to se. IOS 7 but i wont upgrade until the jailbreak for iOS 7!

      • Dylfo

Do you think that the new ios will slow down a 4s noticeably?

      • Ahmadjoon

Although, it will make it faster!

      • yahmed

No way! I would upgrade without the jalbreak if it is good

    • Gorgonphone

yup i will get the 6 as soon as it is jailbroken

  • Dylfo

Do you think it will be worth upgrading from a 4s?

    • yahmed

Yeah I think it probably would be, but I depends on you.

For you it would be and that’s what Apple intended. So if you were to have a 4 then you would have upgraded to the 5 and if you have a 4S then the next S model was intended for the S model customers.

    • Gorgonphone

i am skipping the 5S only cause there is no jailbreak

iHope Apple releases the iPhone 5S sooner than later. When you’re with an iPhone 4, you’re just tempted to upgrade constantly (especially to the iPhone 5)

    • Kaptivator

Hold out just a little longer… You wouldn’t want to upgrade to the 5 when you know the 5s or 6 is on the horizon.

I’m in the exact same predicament

yes the iphone5 is phenomenal especially with a jailbreak

  • @dongiuj

I went past this Sharp plant last week. Pretty big place. Also Samsung invested over $100 million into it. Good investment….maybe.

  • Gorgonphone
