Finnish mobile games developer Rovio announced earlier in the month plans to bring its social Facebook game, Angry Birds Friends, to iOS and Android devices. Today, developers confirmed on Twitter that Angry Birds Friends will be hitting iOS and Android devices this coming Thursday, May 2, a year following its launch on Facebook in May 2012. The Facebook version now sees 60+ million monthly installs and has over 1.2 million daily users…

Angry Birds Friends will reportedly have in-app purchases, the norm these days.

Because it’s being conceived with a strong social aspect to it, Angry Birds Friends will let you invite friends to play, create bird avatars, gift power ups to friends and more. It wasn’t immediately clear whether the native mobile edition of Angry Birds Friends will require Facebook Connect.

And per Rovio’s previous announcement, there are also weekly tournaments for the bronze, silver and gold crown on the levels, daily rewards and more.

Rovio has been milking the Angry Birds franchise for all it’s worth.

All together, the Angry Birds titles have seen nearly two billion downloads across platforms, helping Rovio report 2012 sales of $195 million, with a net profit of $71 million.

A whopping 45 percent of Rovio’s revenue now comes from merchandising and the four major games that it released in 2012.
