Multiple reports have pointed to Apple’s fifth-generation iPad adopting design cues of its little brother, the iPad mini. Wednesday, another evidence surfaced suggesting that the iPad 5 indeed has the skinnier side bezels much akin to the iPad mini. Additionally, the gizmo is said to also borrow the iPad mini’s thin appearance, be lighter and resemble its aluminum design. Here’s a pair of photographs said to depict the device’s front panel which has reportedly leaked somewhere out of China…

Looks like the screen size will remain the same 9.7 inches as on full-size models though the form factor may have shrunk as a result of the noticeably narrower bezels on the left and right side.

The alleged part was republished by the French blog, which previously leaked legitimate iPhone 5 and iPad mini parts ahead of the device’s respective launches.

We still have no clue when Apple might release the iPad 5.

According to yesterday’s DigiTimes report, Apple’s manufacturing partners are ramping up production of the device for the rumored July-August release. However, the reliable KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo thinks the iPad 5 is due this Fall.

Note that Apple refined the iOS multitouch technology in order to dismiss accidental touches when holding it in one’s hand due to the narrower side bezels.

What do you think?

Does this part look legit to you?

  • I think this years products including iOS 7 are going to be a game changer for Apple.

    • I fuckin hope so! Loved iOS 5 changes!! iOS 6 was lacking! iOS 7 needs to be a ‘Goodun’

Same though i have here. Just a feeling i have, haha.

  • The glove makes it a little more convincing to me.

    • GuyBey0ndC00L

If the glove don’t fit you must acquit. Lol jokes

  • It looks like an iPad 2/3/4!!

    • And if you rip off the front of an iPad Mini, that would also look like an iPad 2/3/4. It’s iconic. The back is the part that can be changed.

    • You want it to be with two doors and a key? I don’t understand you 🙂

  • Seems legit, but smaller bezels on top and bottom would be great too.
I understand that they need some places where we can rest our hands without touching the screen… but.. just a tiny bit smaller would be possible, I think…

    • They also need space to hide the parts and the battery.

      • iPad parts and battery are placed in the back of the screen.

      • When I took my ipad apart there was stuff on the sides too.

      • Antenna system, speakers, Camera and Home button. But if the iPhone can make it smaller, im sure the iPad can too.

What do you think is behind the screen, thin air?

  • @dongiuj

Wow, looks so damn amazing! Like nothing anyone has ever seen before, right in your hands. Imagine if they made one in black too! THAT would frickin awesome, right!

Lets be serious, the day Apple redesigns products into something completely different, the world would stop and blow up.

It’s beginning to be quite clear that these devices Apple put out are being brought out of trend, not innovation. What was the last innovating thing that we have seen from the iPhone since the first one and the iPhone 4?

Dudes need to pick up their balls instead of letting them slide on the floor thinking it and their company are so big and move with the time Competition is right next door, it’s name is Google.

I think the side bezel needs to be a little thinner. Still looks somewhat fat.

  • more taller screen ….

  • I was going to update my MacBook Pro this year, but I think I may actually get an iPad instead. I could keep my MacBook Pro as a workstation/casual use for home, and bring the iPad to school and work. I mean, the iPad is definitely more portable. Considering that I’m an avid iPhone user, I can’t wait to see iOS 7 and how Apple implements the software on iPhones/iPods versus iPads, especially when it comes to multitasking. I feel that the iPad could make use of a mission control styled multitasking update while the iPhone would benefit from a style more centered around Auxo. Just my opinion though. Any thoughts, anyone?

To me the S devices are where the iOS is improved

  • Apanizo2

Is that a flash on the front next to the FaceTime camera ?

  • smtp25

If the bezel is thinner – does that mean the screen is going to be bigger or the whole device will be narrower? Either works for me 🙂
