Last month, Marvel announced that it was giving away a bundle of over 700 first issue digital comics for free through its iOS and web apps. The offer included origin editions for well-known superheros like the Avengers, the X-Men, and Spiderman.

Unfortunately, the promotion was so popular that it crashed ComiXology’s servers within hours of going live, forcing Marvel to call the whole thing off. But the good news is, it has resurrected the deal today with a much better contingency plan…

Here’s the announcement on Marvel’s website (via MacRumors):

Sign up now for your free account for access to the Marvel #1 promotion and get:

-Over 700 Marvel comics that you can read anywhere — on your computer or compatible mobile device – available for free for a very limited time.

-Exclusive comic book offers, special sales and new release emails

-Access to over 10,000 digital comics powered by Guided View technology

If you’re a big fan of comics, it might interest you to know that Marvel launched its Marvel Unlimited subscription service on iOS last month. It’s $10 per month or $60 for the year. And it has features similar to Spotify, like the ability to create playlists.

But if you’re just looking for free comics, you’ll want to sign up on the promo website between 9:00 a.m. EST on April 8, and 11:59 p.m EST on April 9 with your email address. You’ll then get sent an invitation that can be redeemed starting this Thursday.
