real racing 3 ss

I’ve been looking forward to the new Real Racing title, Real Racing 3, ever since Firemonkeys first unveiled it last August at the EA Summer Showcase press conference. The graphics in the trailer they showed off were very impressive.

We haven’t heard much about the game since then, as it seems like the developers are really taking their time with the racer. But judging by this new Developer Diary video the team just posted, all of that extra work is really going to pay off…

The main focus of Real Racing 3 seems to be its upgraded graphics, which will include realistic reflections, customizable cars, and improved details down to glosses and finishes. And as you can see in the above clip, track features will also be enhanced.

This will be the first game out of the new mobile development studio Firemonkeys, which is made up of Firemint and the Iron Monkey staff — two independent game developers that were acquired by Electronic Arts’ mobile gaming division late last year.

Real Racing 3 was actually scheduled to be released at the end of 2012, but obviously that never came to pass. The new expected release date is sometime at the end of February.

So, who else is excited about Real Racing 3?

  • Johnathan Jennings

Too bad it’ll cost like $10

    • lol i

    • Naw it’ll prob be 6 or 7 bucks just like most wanted
      For iphone that is
      For iPad maybe yes 10

    • What’s wrong with paying $10 for a game that obviously has decent graphics (enough to rival gaming systems, by the looks of it) along with time and effort put in by the developers…. You don’t think they deserve $10?

      • Johnathan Jennings

They deserve more than $10. But I hate paying money for games that I don’t play. 10 could buy me 3 gallons of gas instead.

      • I am a little confused as to what you’re trying to say.

The game should be less because you have other (I assume, more important) things to purchase or because you won’t play it for a long period of time…or you believe the game should be more then $10?

      • Johnathan Jennings

Like, they’ve put in months if not a year for this game. That’s what I meant

      • Right… With you now.
        Time vs. Effort

Don’t fancy forking over a tenner for a game that will be very hard to retro game.

        If at all.

There are a bunch of old iOS games that won’t play anymore on never devices and iOS versions. Especially thanks to Apple deprecating functions in every new major release of iOS.
Similar to OS X it’s not built to shoulder retro games at all.

That’s why I keep my serious gaming to Windows, at least that can still run super old software.

iOS is merely a game platform for casual gaming and a few exclusives for me.

      • That’s not Apple’s fault mate. That’s the fault of the developers who won’t keep up with the versions of iOS released.

      • Falk M.

I could write a long reply, instead I’ll refer to Windows and the possibility to run executables that are as old as I am on the latest version.

It IS Apple’s fault, as much as I love Apple, but it is.

You forgot the “I will grab it for free on installous” part. Oh, but wait…Yea, too bad…

  • I’m so excited for Real Racing 3! Hurry up and release it already Firemonkey!

  • Falk M.

I really really wanted this very badly back in fall time when it was demoed on Apple’s media event and I still do, but the hype got replaced with disappointment by now especially when I read that it’ll likely arrive in late February… *yawn*

    just one word: wow

  • wonderboydave

still liking my most wanted. no offense.

  • Dan

Everytime I get excited about an IOS game, I end up getting bored after a few days and never finish them (Ie: Nova 3, Wild Blood, Shadowgun…).

Think I’ll pass on this one unless it’s in the 2-3$ range. The graphics looks great though.
