Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to hit iOS December 6

Last month, Rockstar announced that in celebration of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City’s 10 years, it was going to be releasing a special anniversary edition of the title on iOS and Android sometime this fall.

At the time, the studio was pretty vague on details surrounding the upcoming game. But yesterday, it published a blog post confirming its release date, price and other information. Details after the fold…

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City 10th Anniversary Edition will launch on both iOS and Android December 6. Both versions will be priced at $4.99, and Rockstar says that it will work on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

“This 10th Anniversary Edition brings the full experience of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City to mobile devices, with native high-resolution graphics and several enhancements unique to the iOS and Android platforms including updated character models and lighting effects, new and more precise firing and targeting options, a fully customizable control layout and native support for Retina display devices.”

In addition to the new game, Rockstar has also said that it plans to launch Vice City Anniversary-themed collectibles in its Warehouse. It’s a hotbed for game apparel and other merch, so expect more of the same.

Interestingly enough, Vice City’s December 6 release will come almost exactly a year after Rockstar’s last GTA title, Grand Theft Auto III, hit the App Store. And if it’s even half as fun, we’re all in for a good time.

As always, we’ll keep you updated on the game’s progress. So stay tuned.
