If you thought Rovio teaming up with the folks of NASA to create Angry Birds Space was cool, wait until you hear this. The studio has just announced a new partnership with American punk rock band Green Day.

Green Day has sold over 65 million records worldwide, on the back of major hits like “Good Riddance: (Time of Your Life)” and “21 guns.” So it’s only right that they be forever immortalized as bad piggies, right?

From the press release:

“Rovio Entertainment, creator of Angry Birds, and multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning band Green Day have teamed up to launch a new musical episode for Angry Birds Friends. The episode features 10 never-before-seen themed levels, as well as all new bad pig characters inspired by band members Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tre Cool.”

Fans will also be able to access special Green Day content, including the band’s latest hit “Oh Love,” and other exclusive songs. Rovio says that this partnership is the first of its kind, and will offer users an innovative blend of music, video and gameplay.

The Green Day episode is expected to launch “later this fall,” a timeframe the studio has used for a number of its projects including Angry Birds Space: Red Planet. Get ready Angry Birds fans, the next few months are shaping up to be rather interesting.

So, who’s excited?

I think a NASA partnership was cooler than a green day one. This is angry birds not guitar hero. Although it does seem to be losing its popularity just as fast. People are getting angry brided out
