Poll: is iOS 6 everything you hoped for?

By , Jun 11, 2012

Though it’s too early to tell if it’s any good until we get our hands on it, iOS 6 was definitely the star of the show at Apple’s WWDC keynote that just got wrapped up. While we’re still digesting the announcements ourselves, iOS 6 definitely seems to be another worthwhile upgrade.

Granted, it’s an evolution of the world’s most popular mobile operating system rather than a revolution, but no one said it would be in the first place.

We also noticed that Apple really stick it to Google with the new Maps app which comes fully loaded with all the features one would expect from a mapping app.

So what about you, did you like the announcements? Please take a few second of your time to cast a vote in our poll, should be fun…

So we’re asking whether today’s announcements got blood pumping through your veins?

Feeling a bit underwhelmed, are we?

Here, cast your vote.

We’d love to hear your comments on iOS 6 as well so feel free to join the discussion right below.

I’ve been hoping for better https proxy support(the current is horrible, making apps like evernote unusable in my uni), of course it won’t be introduced in the keynote even if there is so I really wish someone who has a developer account could give it a try…

  • Ernesto Carrillo

Hell no! I have all this already except maps that i never use. Waste of time!!!

  • http://twitter.com/astereo Astereo

As I posted in the other entry… Maps is essentially the only new feature — which we all knew was coming. FB integration serves little purpose, Siri improvements only benefit 4s owners and is simply natural progression of the service, not a “new feature”. The passbook app will most likely be similar to find my friends — if no one adopts it it will simply die. Where were all the revamped stock apps? The phone app adding 4 new buttons isn’t revolutionary or even significant. I know Apple will save 1 or 2 new things for the official iPhone 5/iOS6 presser, but this was beyond weak.

      Nailed it.

PLEASE JAILBREAK THE HELL OUT OF IT!!!

  • http://twitter.com/binarydivided Filip Langer

Very, very minor changes. Was hoping for something better… I mean really? Maps and phone is basically the only new stuff… Even if I add the Siri upgrade, it’s still quite small and mediocre. :/ Little bit disappointed, but then, you’d be a fool to believe that Apple is going to make a UI overhaul before iOS 10…

    • http://twitter.com/binarydivided Filip Langer

I can totally see jailbreak being a necessity to most iOS owners ( ISX, Messages+/BiteSMS, XBMC etc.)… also, full navigation only for 4S + iPad3? Gah… sure, marketing is important, but no goodies for the 4? :( (

  • http://twitter.com/dault2 Derek Ault

I was really hoping for quick reply messaging

  • http://twitter.com/luiber93 Luis A. Bermúdez

A lot of useless stuff here however i like staying up to date. Too bad iPad 1 is not supported.

  • CashDolla83

Hell No! and I would love to know who the Sheep or Loons are who voted “Totally, they really hit the ball out of the park”

  • mordechai eliyahu

the only app they forgot to add to ios 6 is CYDIA

    • CashDolla83

      lol

    • HouseOfHouse

Thank Christ for Cydia. I’m dissapointed they didn’t touch the UI or some of the stock apps. Siri is a gimmick but the maps app looks awesome. They took DoNotDisturb from Cydia, pull to refresh Safari and the real dick move was what they did to the Airfoil app so they could claim AirPlay cross device for themselves.

  • Grant Lawrence

That is so stupid it’s available for the iphone 3gs but not for ipad 1. I dont understand that…

  • http://twitter.com/MrMattGaulden Matt Gaulden

Apple shouldn’t call that iOS 6, it should be 5.2!

  • http://www.facebook.com/jason.dieter Jason Dieter

What happen ended to the appletv update we were supposed to get? I heard it was going to add app support.

    • http://twitter.com/oneBurge Burge

Heard = rumour .. Rumour = someone made it up..

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=563922792 John Horton

I’ll never be happy until they have quick reply and SMS from anywhere like bitesms gives us. Until then I’ll keep on jail breaking and getting spoiled by that awesome community of devs!

  • Dylan King

It’s ok. I like the Facebook integration. But was I the only one who noticed its said “notification center API” on the mac SDK slide?

    • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=563922792 John Horton

Likely to do with the phone number / ID convergence for messaging and calls from multiple devices. My attempt at a guess????

  • http://twitter.com/redsymphony Red Symphony

a lot of these things i can do with my jailbroken iphone 4S smh and even being in Canada where is the Siri search oh wait there is a Jailbreak app for that as well man i really believe apple takes alot of these jailbroken tweaks and copy them hard.

  • http://twitter.com/aomia syler

Siri was about the only big thing i think that matters. i dont realy use the maps or facebook i was just looking for a new added feature not an upgraded feature

  • CamSince89

Wasn’t necessarily a dud but nothing too exciting.

The app developers getting access to Siri will be a MAJOR strength for iOS.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100000112990434 Soroush Bi

    No new iPhone!?! :|

  • http://www.facebook.com/ilkim.sezen İlkim Sezen

At least a fucking better Messages App! They should have implemented BiteSMS!

  • iXanczy

Siri for iPad (3) was the highlight for me atleast…

    • MohamedHassabo1

      Me too…

  • http://www.facebook.com/Imzy82 Imran Anwar

All the hype for nothing, they should of just called it iOS 5.6 :p

  • http://twitter.com/iAhmed_07  Aحmed Waحeed

IT’S BAAAAAAAAAD !!! I Waste 2 hours from my life

  • EricArmstrongg

I think Passbook is UNDERrated. I use my phone whenever I can, for things like plane tickets, movie stubs, etc. If this app runs smoothly, I think in the future we’ll see very few people using physical paper tickets.

  • Luke Row

Was disappointed that there still hasn’t been any radical changes.

  • http://www.facebook.com/JorgeMussaGuerraDemes Jorge Mussa

If only they had added NCSETTINGS like toggles and MESSAGES+ OR BITESMS like quick reply… :/

  • sasan akbari

    Very disappointing. :(
They didn’t release siri for iphone 4 and ipad 2.
Siri doesn’t have useful abilities and again we need assistant extentions.
There is no Q.C so we need bitesms.
    No support for https proxy.
No widget so I need dashboard X.
    No password protect for apps.
    And
    .
    .
    .

  • http://twitter.com/rud0lf77 Rudolf Lichtner

    iOS Updates were disappointing lately…

  • http://twitter.com/workaholocaust Michael

I’m a fan of both Apple and Google and I really don’t see any evidence that they are “really sticking it to Google.”

  • QuarterSwede

All I wanted was native Turn by Turn and Do Not Disturb. I think they exceeded on both (Siri integration for turn by turn and excellent options for Do Not Disturb). I also like full screen for Mobile Safari.

However, Siri won’t be great until there is a public API for it. It’s possibilities will only be limited by the apps you have at that point. I guess their servers just aren’t ready for that much use yet.

  • http://www.facebook.com/cubanno2031 Adrian Rodriguez

Apple say ,Features are subject to change. Not all features are available on all devices.
Some features may not be available in all countries or all areas. Flyover and turn-by-turn navigation will be available only on iPhone 4S and iPad 2 or later,no iphone 4…

  • http://www.facebook.com/cubanno2031 Adrian Rodriguez

Hell no turn by turn in my iphone 4!!!! Waste of timeee!!!!!!!

    • Jobran

      thats dump of apple !

  • http://twitter.com/GarrettCecil Garrett Cecil

It looks nice, I don’t think I’m that excited for it, though. I really wish they would have updated the YouTube app… The current one really sucks.

    • EricArmstrongg

The current one is literally worthless! I’m honestly shocked that they haven’t done anything about it, after all this time. I recommend ProTube, it’s not perfect, but it’s far better, I think you’ll be impressed.

  • sn0wbaLL

Been following their stuff. So far, everything announced has already been done on Android. Maps, Facebook integration….Facetime finally works over the cellular network (but still only to iDevices). Agreed, so far I am not seeing anything that makes me think twice about dropping the iPhone 4S for the S3. Frankly they could have just played the tape from last year. I really don’t see how anything is “new and revolutionary” Still same boring interface.

    -evilmoneky -mud314

Was hoping for something new, but it’s all catch-up so far.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Mateo-Mejia-del-Castillo/538808577 Mateo Mejia del Castillo

Dissapointed, I was hoping for better home screen personalization, althought I liked a lot FB integration and the new map app, I personally think iOS 6 does not have good upgrade, they should named it iOS 5.2….., and, no widgets, not good, al least they should add siri support for the ipad 2.

  • http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=1595420643 Simche Apple Konstantinovic

People brace yourselves, at least IPhone 5 is coming later this year… Oh and yes, This should have been named ios 5.2 instead :)

  • maurid

The last Apple release that blew my mind was the iPhone/iOS 4 announcement back in 2010. THAT was revolutionary. And who was in charge of that presentation? That’s right, STEVE JOBS.

In conclusion, Apple needs someone as strong, creative, revolutionary as Jobs, or people will start to wake up, and it’ll be all downhill from there for Apple.

    • http://twitter.com/redevil1987 Damian W

I dont think Jobs would change a lot in ios 6. As far as I can remember apple makes something revolutionary once in few years. We might wait another 2 years to get something close to our dream ( jailbroken) phone.

  • http://twitter.com/GuyBey0ndC00L eDDie

THING THAT SHOULD OF BE ADDING IN iOS6 – Better Music ( iPod ) EQ down load MyTunes you’ll here the difference. NC Setting or something like it. A way to kill notifications on lock screen. Really Twitter and Facebook Notification Center on but no Quick Reply or Quick Compose from NC what gives. New maps look cool but the reason behind it is Apple hates Google has much has they hate Samsung. True is all these companies need either. Go against Apple an apple will block u out. Adobe Photo Shop your next

  • http://twitter.com/GuyBey0ndC00L eDDie

Things that should of been included in iOS6. NC Settings for quick setting, a way to kill Notifications of lock screen. NC Quick Reply & Quick Compose for Messages. Facebook & Twitter NC but no Messages what gives. Better Folder Customization. Fully updated YouTube App I know you hate Google but come on Apple Really updated long over do. Reminder App still needs work. Better App Switcher and maybe just maybe Rotated Spring Board. iOS6 is a waste.

  • http://twitter.com/redevil1987 Damian W

iphone 4 is still a powerfull phone that can handle everything iphone 4s does, but Apple seems to be ignoring this fact and focuses its attention on making bucks. What a waste.

    • Aleksander Azizi

wrong, not “everything” the iPhone 4s does. (The “s” is Not there because of Siri)

      • http://twitter.com/redevil1987 Damian W

        ???

      • http://twitter.com/workaholocaust Michael

The ‘S’ is for speed and I had Siri on my 4 for 3 months using Spire and assistant connect. It ran perfect.

  • Wael Abdo

iOS 6 was but the wwdc 2012 not so much…

  • http://twitter.com/Protocol_L Tyler Ladner

    Not by a long shot.

  • http://twitter.com/blakeway66 paul blakeway

Find it funny how so many people are complaining about ios 6 before they even know wot all the other features are why don’t we just wait and see what the betas bring to table. I’ve seen other post already saying the navigation won’t work ant yet it seems to be supported by tomtom which is a pretty good navigation system.

  • http://www.facebook.com/tyler155 Tyler Chervo

Really, at the most this feels like iOS 5.2 than iOS 6

  • http://twitter.com/HeitorStifler Heitor Castro 

Definitely not. By the way, I don’t know who liked this iOS 6 features. Just small things, not big deal like iOS 4 and 5 was.

I have no reason to be excited to put it into my devices. The only [maybe] useful thing it’s the new Maps apps, just that, nothing else for me.

  • http://twitter.com/mwohrlin Mark Wohrlin

Disappointed with IOS6. Just like Iphone 4S was a disappointment. Have a feeling the new Iphone will follow suit.

  • http://twitter.com/Devin_Plebuch Devin Plebuch

I like what they are adding, but much of the new options are already done as well or better by the jailbreak community. So, while I am happy with their integrations on 6 and it will be more advantageous functionality wise for those who don’t jailbreak, I’m not intending to update until I can add my favorite tweaks. I’m patient. :)

  • http://twitter.com/EnvJones Tupacaveli

No Siri for THE Netherlands ? Makes no sense at all. People here bought 4s for nothing. Iphone 5 is allmost coming!

  • http://twitter.com/frebib Joe Groocock

    The new UI looks cool!

  • http://twitter.com/MCaudebec Maxim∑

    Macbook was incredible though

  • http://twitter.com/WhenThCome4Me Joseph Moore

“iOS 6″ could have easily been iOS 5.2. Apple taking advantage again.
