Sn0wBreeze 2.9.5 brings support for iPhone 4 on 5.1.1 build 9B208

By , May 27, 2012

iOS hacker iH8sn0w has released an update to his popular Sn0wBreeze jailbreak tool for Windows. Hot off the heels of version 2.9.4 comes version 2.9.5. This latest update brings supports for the iPhone 4 5.1.1 build 9B208 that Apple stealthily released on Friday.

Sn0wBreeze 2.9.5 also includes a fix for the iPhone 3GS (iPad Baseband users) location services. Check inside for the download links to this staple jailbreak tool for Windows…

Again, it’s worth mentioning that Sn0wBreeze supports A4 devices and below only. A5 devices are not yet supported, as brought out in our previous post. If you need to jailbreak an iPad 2, iPhone 4S, or the new iPad, it’s best to stick with the Absinthe jailbreak tool.

Head over to our downloads page to download Sn0wBreeze 2.9.5.

Can anybody clarify the difference between 9b206 and 9b208 other than the name? There must be a reason why apple released it

No, you can jailbreak it. Read the title if the post.

      SAM

      • Anonymous

SAM doesn’t work anymore. It only works if you were already using it and saved your unlock tickets.

How would I do it If I have the activation ticket saved?i really want to update to 5.1.1

      • http://twitter.com/MichaelEspiri2 MichaelEspiri2™

very true.. you would need your saved tickets from the specific sim you unlocked for.(thats if you unlocked any in the first place)

Just used sn0wbreeze to update my 6.15 baseband iPhone 3GS to 5.1.1. It worked flawlessly! :)

I have a problem. Yesterday I was trying to update my iphone 4 to 5.1.1, I put my phone in DFU mode, but I gets stuck on “verifying Restoration with apple” and get over and over the error 1602. I tried snowbreeze, custom firmware made by myself, but nothing seems to work. Tried ireb 5.

    Any suggestions??

    • http://twitter.com/CVthegreat Braun Buffel

Restore or update via itunes does not need to put your idevice into DFU mode. Just plug-in your idevice to PC or Mac, fire-up itunes and click the “Restore” button. That’s it dude!!!

Also, (if you have tiny umbrella) check if the box “set host to cydia” is *not* checked if it is unchecked I had the same problem but iTunes gave me the error “this bundle is not compatible with this iPhone” but I just unchecked and it worked “brilliant” like british people say :P

You forgot…..worth to mention Sn0wBreeze preserve baseband jailbreak tools. It’s safe for unlocker to jailbreak with this awesome tool.

    • D P

I am totally lost with jailbreaking, preserving, unlocking and the massive amount of tools which in my eyes do the same thing.
      I have an iPhone 4, baseband 1.59.00 on iOS 5.0.1 (9A405).
I think I need a custom firmware which doesnt upgrade my baseband, and jailbreaks and unlocks at the same time? Which tool can do this ?

      • http://twitter.com/Mrarkon Lady Mrarkon

Sn0wbreeze will help with the custom firmware and jailbreaking, but you have to jailbreak before you unlock. You cannot do both at the same time.

      • D P

is there any way to make this happen at this point in time?

      • http://twitter.com/Mrarkon Lady Mrarkon

Yeah. You can unlock with ultrasn0w after jailbreaking if you have the according baseband.

      • http://profile.yahoo.com/S4DAM3A4MNONUPA3UXOQVTDD44 Phish Phish

Dude you have the only truly unlockable baseband for the 4. You have the baseband that apple shut down after a month so your baseband is super rare and sought after (at least it was prior to AT&T’s announce to perm unlock or the SAM method).

Anyway youre going to make a custom firmware with a NO BB which tricks the servers when using itunes and they dont even know its there so as a result youll be Upgraded but still riding out on 01.59.00 which is “Gold Jerry,Gold!”. So you need to download 5.1.1 firmware and because you have an iphone 4 go ahead and grab the 1st version of 5.1.1 which ends in 206 vs the newer version 2 which ends in a 208. Save it to your desktop and USE Chrome or Firefox. Do not use IE. Now take the firmware on the desktop and run Sn0wbreeze (the newest version) and follow what the program tells you to do. As I said you need a NO BB in order to preserve the baseband. Now you need to go into Redsn0w (latest version works) and run as administrator. Click the “Extras” button and then put the phone in Pwned DFU so when you insert the custom firmware itunes will let it through. So now your screen is totally black and open itunes, once open plug in to USB and then get ready to insert the custom 5.1.1 NO BB firmware. Once your ready to go ahead and restore by holding down SHIFT (windows) and simultaneously click the RESTORE button while holding SHIFT and a screen will pop up and this is where you insert the Firmware you made so find and double click the firmware on your desktop and allow itunes to restore
And then update to 5.1.1 NO BB custom ipsw. Obviously you will backup your phone (right click your phone icon in left margin of screen and click backup) and remember this happens fast! You pwnDFU will enable you to backdoor your NO BB as though Apple never saw it. Good Luck! Also remeber there are 2 versions of 5.1.1 you want the first one which ends in r2206.

Thanks for the info, im a total noob to this though. Is there any way i can maybe contact you on an IM program?

I have jail broken my iphone 3gs on 5.1.1 and have installed UltraSn0w to unlock it but it is not picking up the SIM it searches for some time and then says no service, can anyone advise what could be done….

because ultrasnow was not supporting ios 5.1.1 but it is supporting it right now, and be careful to not update your baseband.

maybe you installed ipad baseband 06.15.00 and your iphone 3gs was produced at 28+ week of 2011, so you brick your baseband. try to install a clean restore.

Anyone know of a sn0wbreeze coming out to support 4S 5.1.1?

  • http://www.orionweb.net/ Russ Offord

I was wondering what exactly was the ‘fix’ for ‘location services’ for 3GS with this release, so I found the following info on @iH8sn0w twitter account:

‏@cewong2 asked: “just out of curiosity what is the Location Services Fix that you mention for 3gs on 6.15?”

@iH8sn0w replied: “Some issue where location services would freeze when in use for iPad baseband users on iOS 5. Its not the GPS issue.”

It is also worth mentioning that iH8sn0w told one twitter user that “the GPS issues are unrelated to the location services issues in iOS 5.x.x.” and told another twitter user that “location services is usually determined by the device’s IP address (WiFi/3G), while the GPS issue is hardware related.”

can anyone tell me how can i know that the iphone 3gs was produced week 28+ of 2011?

My iPhone 4 iOS 5.1.1 Upadate resnow Jailbreak installed ok but no network coverage no service How to problem solve this
    please …

I have a jailbroken iphone 4 with 4.3.3 as iOS & BB – 4.10.1, unlocked with Gevey SIM.
I am planning to upgrade the current iOS to 5.1.1 with preserving the Baseband. I am not sure how do i go about the upgrade.

my plans are as below –
    – Download the 5.1.1 ipsw file
    – Use Sn0wbreeze as the tool for the upgrade and to preserve the BB
    – Create custom ipsw file.
    – Restore the custom created ipsw file with the itunes.

Now i am bit confused here, because after restoring the custom ipsw file (that was created using sn0wbreeze) should i need to jailbreak it again? if yes, how should i?

    -Regards,
    Sudesh
