Absinthe 2.0 released for iOS 5.1.1 untethered jailbreak

Ladies and gentlemen, the wait is over. Absinthe version 2.0 has been released to the public, meaning you can now jailbreak iOS 5.1.1 untethered.

Absinthe is compatible with most recent iOS devices running iOS 5.1.1, including the new iPad (iPad 3), the iPhone 4S, the iPad 2, the iPhone 4, iPod touch 4th generation, iPhone 3GS, etc.

A Mac, Windows, and Linux version are now available. Check inside for the full download!

    I have a Jailbroken IPad 2 at 4.3.3. If I fresh restore my ipad for Absinthe to work, will I lose all my data forever? Because restore my backup after I JB will take away the JB right?

      Nope. Backup in itunes, restore it to new. Do the JB, then restore your files and apps from the backup.

    Tried to jailbreak my iPad 3, uk gsm and it does nothing. Goes through the whole process with no error messages but doesn’t jailbreak the device.

    I keep trying to jailbreak my iPad 2 on 5.1.1 and it keeps restoring and finishing the break but cydia is no where to be found. What am I doing wrong?

      You may have an iPad 2,4 The jailbreak will not work on this model.
      You can go to app store and purchase (.99) Geekbench 2. This will tel you exactly which model you have. If you have 4,2 you’ll have to continue to wait for a jailbreak.

    ~ Sprint iphone 4S~ Windows 7 x64. *How I Got It To Work*

    Errors I first got were Absinthe crashed on my computer, Couldn’t get Jailbreak to complete ” something went wrong error”, Jailbroke but Cydia Missing.

    How I got it.

    1. Set absinthe to run under Windows xp compatibility and check Run As Admin.
    2. Reset iphone back to factory default in itunes.
    ** It WILL jailbreak now, with no further needed BUT cydia will be missing unless you do as followed SO Don’t do it yet.

    3. Select English.
    4. Select United States.
    * Wait Til Activation Completes* ** DO NOT SETUP ANYMORE**
    5. Close Itunes.
    6. Jailbreak.
    7. Finished. Cydia Installed, Opened.
    8. Restore Backup of iphone from itunes. Couldn’t do icloud restore.

    Jailbroke my iPad 2 with Absinthe 2.0.1 and my iPhone 4 with Rocky Racoon Untether. Both were flawless and done in a matter of seconds. Great job pod2G and everyone that took part in this jailbreak :D

      Did you setup the phone after restoring with itunes? Don’t set the phone up. When it comes on for the first time close itunes and then jailbreak. If it is CDMA you can go through setup only to activation screen then stop and jailbreak.

        Its an iPad sorry, I’ve tried to do this but still get nowhere, cydia icon shows on the iPad but doesn’t open, I’ve jailbroken before setting up, the first time I Jailbreak it comes up with recovery complete, second time it goes through ok, but then cydia won’t open

    Its not fucking working!!! im losing my fucking mind.. I have an iphone 4s and a ipad 2 both on 5.1.1 and everytime i open absinthe 2.0 it say error detecting device lockdown error 256 or some fucking bullshit.. ive been jailbreaking for years now and ive tried everything in the books and i cant fucking figure it out FFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!

      Do a clean restore with itunes, close itunes and then jailbreak BEFORE you set the phone up.

      Do it again. This time make sure you absolutely do not touch the iphone once the restore is complete and make sure itunes is closed before the jailbreak. This happened to me first also.

    as many have said before. GUYS:

    - RESTORE THROUGH ITUNES(MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE LATEST VERSION) FIRST.

    - THEN OPEN ABSINTHE, CLICK JAILBREAK, DONT TOUCH THE IPHONE. THEN ON THE ABSINTHE PROGRAM IT WILL SAY “DONE, ENJOY!

    for everyone who is having problems with 5.1.1 4S, here are the steps
    1. Backup Iphone
    2. Connect phone to comp ( Restore using button below Update)
    3. Once restored from Itunes, Run Absinthe 2.0
    4. Iphone now jailbroken
    5. Restore phone to backup you just created. (You may have to manually add apps and Music back to Iphone) But it will restore everything else.
    6. Done
