Absinthe 2.0.1 now available to address bugs [Updated]

The Chronic Dev Team just pushed Absinthe 2.0.1 for Mac, Windows, and Linux. This release contains fixes for a small subset of bugs.

According to @pimskeks, version 2.0.1 is for “fixing a hang that could occur in certain situations.”

It’s advisable that you download the latest version of Absinthe from our downloads page if you plan on jailbreaking your iOS 5.1.1 device…

 

Have you tried Absinthe 2.0.1 yet? Have you noticed any differences?

    i’m having trouble wiv jailbreaking my two ipad 3′s (the new ipads) the first wifi only and second is wifi + cellular. i always get error detecting error -5 or -3 on both devices. I can’t solve this out. Can anyone help please? Thank you

    Jailbreak went thru with little problem. However now when I log into Cydia I cant access any repos including BigBoss. Does anyone know what the latest BB repo is?

    Ok. I’m on an iPod touch 4g 5.1.1 and when I begin the jailbreak it gets stuck on starting the jailbreak and my antivirus software pops up saying a Trojan was being quarantined. Help will be appreciated

    Hi bros! finally the 2.0.1 update works like a charm! Thanks to Chronic Dev Team for the great job!! my device is ipad2 wifi clean and newly activated with full erase of content and setting. About halfway thru the jailbreaking you should see the apple symbol with a horizontal update line below. It then update and a sounded once then another and the device is jailbroken with cydia on it! works like a charm. It should not hang halfway as in 2.0 version. Cheers!

I’ve tried the normal restore method of holding home and power but doesn’t help. Anyone have an ideas on how to help? Thanks

      if you have tinyumbrella make sure you uncheck set host to cydia…

    I did a clean restore, then installed as the directions say. The jailbreak worked but cydia has no packages inside any of the sources. Anyone else having this issue? I already tried redoing the restore and doing this again and its still doing the same thing. Any help?

      you have to refresh cydia in order for the packages to load…it will take a long time right now since everyone just JB…give it a few days or try when everyone is asleep when the server isnt getting hammered.

      same issue here with Iphone 4 gsm. i’ve restored twice, started as new iphone, and still getting the same device not supported message.

        If you updated to the new gsm release that apple pushed out last night than you have to wait for support for that. iOS

    I would like to confirm that this absinthe 2.0.1 version worked perfectly on my 3gs (year 2010) 16gb . It definitely solved the “…waiting for process to complete”…error I was having with the initial 2.0 release.
    Thanks guys. You guys should be serious independent contractors..and don’t work for the corporations like apple..ms…fb..etc…just keep doing what you are doing..

    I’m running win7 64bit. I’ve restored my iPhone using the ‘in house’ delete and absinthe 2.0 didn’t work. Absinthe started and the dialog box stayed on-screen for about 30 secs then disappeared like a crashed app. I then restored via iTunes, (iTunes downloaded the 5.1.1 update, installed it; and when the phone entered set-up I started the jailbreak, as advised by the website), and the very same thing happened again.
    I do feel let down, a bit more time could’ve been taken to make sure it works. I’ve visited many a forum where people are upset about this JB. I know it’s free (only if you do not donate), but if you advertise something (even if it’s free ….. ahem, especially if it’s free), it should work!

    So I just realized after updating to 5.1.1 and rejailbreaking, All my music has vanished on my 4s. All the music is synced but the phone shows music as “No content”.

    hi, absinthe 2.0 and 2.0.1 runs for ages then said absinthe setup.exe has stopped working. ive done a restore too and still no joy. ran as admin tto. its an ipad 2. ive done my 4s first time no issues :(
    anyone know how to sort this?

    apparently I have totally screwed up my jailbreak and desperately need help. Here’s the path of my stupidity:

    - did a back up of the phone first
    - have an iPhone 4 (NOT S) on AT&T, and it was already jailbroken and working fine on untethered 5.01. been waiting for 5.1.1
    - attempted to run Absinthe 2.0 this morning and it says that the device is already jailbroken. (i’m new to this, i knew i was jailbroken but i thought i still had to run this app if i wanted to go to 5.1.1).
    - when that didn’t work i made the assumption that i just needed to do a firmware update. so i went to the idb download page and downloaded the newest 5.1.1(build 9B208), then i option-clicked the “update” button (not “restore”, i specifically used “update”) and it seemed to install it just fine
    - phone came back up working perfectly except not jailbroken (or at least there’s no cydia or any of my jailbroken apps)
    - tried to run Absinthe 2.0 again but now says the device is not supported anymore
    - tried to run Absinthe 2.01 and same error
    - put it in dfu mode and tried redsn0w, starts the process of jail breaking but fails half way through. phone resets and it’s back to the main screen and works fine but not jail broken.

    what did i do? what can i do to get myself jailbroken again?

    please help!

      You have to wait till they add support for new version of 5.1.1 apple released last night for Iphone 4 GSM

    Struggling now. Managed to jailbreak 4s after 2.0 hung first time around. Second time worked great. Can’t get 2.0 or 2.0.1 to work on my iPad wifi. Program runs for a bit then stops responding. Using windows 7

    Hey you guys, just did the jailbreak with absinthe 2.0 and it installed cydia, however repos aint showing any info (tweaks nor apps), i’ve read that the servers are really busy, is it becuase of that, that the repos dont show anything?
    or was it a problem with the jailbreak itself? appreciate it

      I think you have the same firmware version as me 5.1.1 (9B208) if so yeah it says its not supported :( not even with redsnow

    I restored and set up as new on 5.1.1, then used absinthe 2.0.1 The jailbreak works fine!!! However, can I delete the rocky racoon package? Or will that make me loose the untethered part??

    I’ve a problem, I can’t restore or update my iphone 4s from ios 5.0.1 to 5.1.1 then JB it.
    after connecting the iphone and ask the Itunes to restore/update the software and after finishing the downloading then processing the update a message appears with an error saying (( the network connection is timed out)).
    I tryied the ( update ) and the ( restore ) option from the itunes and don’t know how to fix it.
    help me please I wanna to update it the JB.

    another thing If I go to UR download page and download the 5.1.1 firmare from there how can I use it and update the iphone??

    Not working on mine at all (Sprint 4s 5.1.1) Ive followed the instructions explicitly( used itunes to restore) It seems like its working but when its done, no cydia at all.

    I’m a novice to jailbreaking! I have a iphone 4 and it was a tethered jailbreak and I updated to 5.1.1 and I keep getting on absinthe 2.0.1 that my device is not supported! I followed instructions on disabling all my start up programs and still the samething! Iv’e tried turning off device and changing USB ports to no avail, can somebody help me with this, it will be greatly appreciated! Also I received

    This is really stressing me out!!! I haven’t been able of jailbreaking my iPhone 4!!!!! I have downloaded every version of Absinthe that has come out, my iPhone 4 is in iOS 5.1.1 and I have done everything that I have read in blogs to try and make it work but Absinthe just keeps crashing half jailbreak!!!! I jailbroke my iPad 2 first try with not a single issue, it was perfect but when I tried my iPhone 4 at first it was giving some errors including the lockdown error but I did everything I could to fix them…. now Absinthe just crashes everytime… I’m on Windows 7 and the programs stops working so I have to close it via Task Manager!!! WHAT DO I HAVE TO DO!???

    I tried to delete an app but when I click the “X” the icons continue to shake but nothing happens & the phone won’t respond for about 3 mins. Then it resprings and the app is still there. It does this with any AppStore app. Anyone have any ideas?

    Iphone 4s 5.1.1 when jailbroken with absinthe crashes when try to delete apps and wont delete app! also have noticed when i slide to unlock cellular signal drops out and then get no service and if lock it again signal returns after few minutes but back to ne serice when slide to unlock

    i need help, i jail broke my iPhone 4s using absinthe and i could turn my phone on and off and such but its battery died and now it won’t boot back up and all it does is show the apple logo and I’m not sure how to boot it tethered using absinthe the only option it has is to jailbreak but i can’t re jailbreak it because it won’t show it being connected and i put it in the restore mode and it won’t show up on the absinthe but it does on iTunes, so I’m not sure what to do can someone help? e-mail me brandonblk01@yahoo.com
