Refurbished iPads now available for as low as $279 on Apple.com

By , May 7, 2012

While purchasing a new iPad (third-generation) will still cost you a minimum $499, Apple is doing everything it can to make its tablets more affordable.

Earlier this year it announced that it would be lowering the price of the iPad 2 to $399, and now it’s slashing the prices of its factory refurbished models…

As noted by 9to5Mac, you can now purchase an iPad for as low as $279. Now, mind you that’s for an original 16GB Wi-Fi refurbished model. But it’s still a heck of a deal. So is the $319 refurbished iPad 2 (also 16GB Wi-Fi only model).

For those of you who aren’t familiar with Apple’s refurbished products, they are some of the best in the business. The iPads come with a new battery, back and the same one-year warranty that new products do.

At the time of this writing, both models are still available, but as these type of fire sales are known to deplete stock quickly, we recommend that those who are interested act fast.

What do you think? Deal, or no deal?

My iPad is close to unusable because safari crashes every 30 seconds. I can not believe Apple would sell this product with iOS 5. It makes me question my fanboy status.
