Folks who use Steam, the popular game distribution platform for the Mac and PC, will be happy to hear that there is now an official iPhone client available in the App Store.

Dubbed Steam Mobile, the app will allow users to perform a number of tasks that were previously reserved for the desktop client, including chatting with other Steam members and browsing through Steam’s Game Catalog…

The app’s description reads:

“With the free Steam app for iOS, you can participate in the Steam community wherever you go. Chat with your Steam friends, browse community groups and user profiles, read the latest gaming news and stay up to date on unbeatable Steam sales.”

It appears that the app is still in beta, but Steam is sending out testing codes to users interested in trying it. If you want to get the ball rolling, you can download Steam Mobile from the App Store for free.

Will you be trying out Steam’s iPhone client?
