RedSn0w Updated With iBooks Fix in Tow

By , Jan 15, 2012

Hot off the heels of the Corona iBooks fix, MuscleNerd tweeted that RedSn0w has been updated to 0.9.10b4 to incorporate the fix for Apple’s mobile book app.

The good news for current RedSn0w users is that all you have to do is rerun the new version over your existing jailbreak in order to receive the fix.

For those of you without access to a computer, or who don’t feel like bothering with RedSn0w again, you can always install the latest version of Corona that we posted about earlier.

The Dev Team goes on to say that like the update to Corona, the latest version of RedSn0w includes a fix for the sporadic launchctl issues as well.

Of course, if you’ve still yet to jailbreak your iPhone 4 or other A4 device, check out our RedSn0w page for the full scoop on how to do so.

If you already know how, mosey on over to our downloads page to download the latest version of RedSn0w — 0.9.10b4.

I had the same thing, just let it run, it will jailbreak anyway.

      • Mine never jailbroke, i had to restore my iPad and do a fresh jailbreak. Worked like a charm, plus my iBooks is fixed now 🙂

    I saw redsn0w updated to …. and I presume that it’s the A5 jailbreak.

    • Just a couple hours after they show us the first demo? When has that ever happened?

      • Anonymous

      • I thought of the same thing… Lol

  • Well this is cool. I like using redsn0w more than Corona. Personal habit.

DON’T USE redsn0w 0.9.10b4 OVER YOUR OLD JAILBREAK! You’ll get “no successful firmware download after 60000 ms” ERROR! Wait for the bug to be fixed. Jeff, you should alert people about this bug.

  • Deselect install Cydia.

I have never ran redsnow over a existing jailbreak. If I deselect cydia and run redsnow will all of my existing cydia sources/packages still be there or will have to reinstall everything?

Can’t you just restore the 5.0.1 firmware and then use the new redsn0w b4 to jailbreak. This way you can select Cydia and had a fresh jailbreak iPhone?

Oooops! My bad. I forgot that. Thanks for reminding me.

Didn’t work on mine iphone 4.
I had previously tried ibooksfix 2. It acts like after applying the cydia tweak.

Anyone who has done the jailbreak of iPhone 5.0.1 with iBooksfix on your iBooks will have two icons on your iPhone. The new one works and the original one that you download from App Store will not.
Applied Redsn0wb4 and UNSELECT install Cydia. After Redsn0w did its trick, the one from App Store works and the one from iBooksfix will not. Go into Cydia and remove iBooksfix then the icon that does not work will disappear and now you can move your iBooks icon back to where you want.

  • Worked like a charm!

  • anyone, a solution now for ….giving up… error?
I installed Corona and ibooks works but because i used redsn0w b1,b2,b3 i want to install b4, too even though corona would work for me.
